Hokay, so I've got the new Mattel DCU Series 1 on its way to me, and I'm planning on changing my duplicate Batman from blue/grey to black/grey. That much I'm fairly confident I can do.
But I also wanna get a big, fat Frank Miller-ish bat symbol on his chest instead of the yellow oval one. This I don't think I can pull off with paint. I tested out on idea on an old figure of mine- I cut a bat symbol out of duct tape, painted it black, let it dry, and then slapped it on. As I'm sure you can imagine, it looked like crap.
Has anybody got any neat tricks or tips for me?

Black Electrical tape...probably easier to cut in certain angles as well so that it conforms to the chest better than duct tape.

how about finding a low-tac sheet of acetate and make a stencil?

You can use blank water slide decal paper to create a decal of the bat symbol. It'll look a lot cleaner than painting it.

Decal would look the best, I know alot of people use them for sport customs.

If you click on my sig, you can see some of the sports customs that I've done. Names, numbers and logos were done with decals.

You should be able to find decal paper at just about any decent hobby shop if you have one in your area.

I swear by decal paper. Just be sure to custom work the graphics with photoshop in 300dpi for some nice sharp decals.

Man. I really like that S3 Batman sculpt from the Mattel line you posted..but what happened to his head? it's so hideous. I love the textured outfit and clothing detail, but the tiny waist and twisty head is just awful. I think im going to combine parts from two Batmans to make a better one

Finished. Painted all the blue bits black, replaced his cape with a cloth one, and added pouches onto the utility belt. I used a postage stamp for the bat symbol. I'll try to see if I can get some pics tomorrow.
