OK, I am planning on customizing a couple of my Transformers because, well, the colors kinda suck. I have Evac and was thinking of painting him into Blackout. I have Incenerator and was thinking about painting him black period. I am also going to customize a Cliffjumper into a Bumblebee (since i can't for the life of me find a '09 Bumblebee at retail:mad:).

Anyways, should I use flat black for these applications or would it be better to use gloss black. A combination? Any advice would be appreciated because I want these to look good.:)

I'd use a combination. IMO it'd look best because there'd be more visual interest.

It would be easier to just buy a blackout then repaint a evac. I would use both flat and gloss black but I think flat black looks better.

flat black would definetly be better but dont go forgetting the washes and dry-brushing....these transformers, specially Voyager and Leader Class, have such a lot of detail in the sculpt thats lost in the crappy paint job.

First head over to my site and brush up all on the guides, especially the Transformers Painting Guide if you haven't already

You could get away with doing him in all flat black if you added details like the dryrbushing the inside of the robot parts, adding some shading to the wings, or lining in the panels with gray.

Great work. I didn't see the painting guides yet so I'm heading back to check it out. Right now, I'm simply trying to paint Cliffjumper yellow and make him into Bumblebee but the yellow paint is not working. It is too thin and I'm getting fish eyes:mad: Maybe I can get some ideas from your site. Thanks.:)

I need to learn more about this dry brush technique. You talk about it but how exactly is it done? I saw some of your TF's and you could see all the lines and details. How do you do that?
