I looked at many threads about the Halo 3 series 2 figures and most people said "arbiter looks dull" - "they painted arbiter with 1 color" - "plain". I thought so too so i emailed spawn saying arbiter looks dull, so does the energy sword. They replied saying i hope u like the new arbiter. sorry if i ruined arbiter for some and ur welcome if i helped some.... Cant wait 4 series 2!!:)

Is there any chance someone could post some comparison pictures? I don't believe I've seen the two different versions ...

AoC might have the original pics saved.. he's good like that.
just picture an old use nickel you found that was sitting out in the sun for 10 years.. and that's what the old one looked like.

I do have 1 of them... and I think I can still find some from the Toy Fair coverage because they had the silver one up the first night.
lemme do some digging

that's one, still looking for more...
edit: ok here's a link to a gallery with some photos of the original paint job before they swapped it out with the gold paint master during Toy Fair and it's a very different paint job than the photo I've got posted. the armor is much more metallic with an aged look to it.

I think that the one they had at Toy Fair before the swap was really good and matched the color I know and love from the game. Apparently he's really gold, but I'd always heard that the reason for the gold tinting in some of the outside levels was because of the light and reflections from the graphics engine and not part of the original design for 3. that's a bit depressing

thanks for the pics. I'm at odds with the figure really - the sword is too dark, and the feet are so big that they look goofy. i love the armour design though, not sure which version i like better. posable mandibles would be sweet.

I think that's more the fault of the model than the sculptors-Arbiter has always had rather large feet in all of his iterations.
It's hard to pull off an Energy Sword anyway. I prefer this to a clear one like we got with Joyride.

I like both. It wouldn't surprise me if we see both variations released.

I think that he'd look fantastic if the used the same paint scheme they did for the Steel CQB

I think something between the 2 would be the best. The copper color is not 100% accurate and the silver version does not have proper wear on the armor.

I prefered the first one because It is closer to what it actually is. Making it more aged and metallic without changing the colour completely would have been better imo.

That one, IMHO, is much better. I don't know if it's just the lighting or whatever, but me likey that one more.

It always bugged me that the Arbiter got those mandible guards outta no where. I mean, he clearly didn't have them in the second one. . . then, at the start of the third game, he does. I guess it's not a *big* deal, especially since he looks better with them. . . but I dunno, still bugs me.
AND the fact he totally got shafted on the active-camo. Bad enough that it was so limited in 2, but to have it swapped with a friggin' flashlight in 3?! But now I'm totally off topic. . .

Those are pretty cool, Joe. . .though, it bugs me that the guy didn't include the mandible armor "on purpose."

Closer but still no cigar. The copper color just isn't it. The arbiter has silver armor. The only time in the game you see a different shade to the armor would be due to reflections from the environment around him. Here check out this screenie. This is in a section of game in direct sunlight so this would be the most accurate.

Agreed. Maybe with the bronze edging here n there, like the dirt on the chief.
