The Animax satellite television network confirmed in a Tokyo International Anime Fair 2008 press conference on Thursday that its Ultraviolet: Code 044 anime is based on Kurt Wimmer's 2006 live-action Ultraviolet film starring Milla Jovovich. The anime was pre-announced in a press release for the event. Famed director Osamu Dezaki (A****a no Joe, Aim For The Ace!, Lupin III movies) will supervise the animators of Madhouse and Tezuka Productions. Dezaki's longtime collaborator Akio Sugino (A****a no Joe, Aim For The Ace!, (Black Jack The Movie, Golgo 13: The Professional) will design the characters. Romi Paku (Fullmetal Alchemist's Ed, NANA's Nana Osaki) will voice the main character "044." 044 is a female warrior genetically engineered with high combat skills and ordered by the government to annihilate a vampire army. Madhouse founder Masao Maruyama will produce with Sony Pictures Entertainment (Japan). The project will premiere on Animax on July 1 to mark the anime network's 10th anniversary. (Source ANN)

Yeah. The only way you could make that flick suck even more was to turn it into anime.

I like his technical art. I hate the way anime people look. Before I saw "CEOT3K" I thought that was what aliens would look like.

Hayao Miyazaki accounts for roughly 0.01% of all Anime out there... so it's really no bearing on the fact that making a ****ty idea into an anime will likely result in a ****ty anime.
It's also a good example as to how even the Japanese Animation world are remaking everything they can get their hands on.

Huh, kinda odd, generally it's the US who recycles tired old **** from Japan with crappy remakes, now it's the other way around.

the point he was trying to make is that they're doing something more to a movie that already sucks to begin with
Thus there really is no need to re-visit it

I really don't see this as good news.
I couldn't stand 18 miliseconds of that movie.

The original is not going to win any oscars but I thought it was a pretty damn good action flick. It was a way beter Aeon Flux movie than Aeon Flux turned out to be.

I am not sure if I understand your point. Are you saying all Animation is crap or just crap that gets animated remains crap?
