View Full Version : Matt Leinart = AZ's QB of the Future

Leinart is an idiot. Here he is "priming the pump" of a girl not yet of legal drinking age. Yeah, he's really learning from his "mentor" Kurt Warner. UGH! Say what you want about young players and parties, but he can't be serving alcohol at his house to those not yet legal. I suppose I should be glad he's not using his throwing arm to hold up his beer bong.

I thought perhaps the injury would make Leinart realize that he has to make the most of his NFL career. Obvoiusly it didn't teach him a damn thing.

What is with the 2006 NFL Draft class? Vince Young, Reggie Bush and Matt Leinart were amongst the most hyped pro prospects ever yet they don't seem to be interested in working hard to improve their games on the field, none of them are even close to being elite players at their position.

Did anybody really take Leinart seriously? I have always had the feeling he plays football for the Fame and chicks. I honestly believe the reason he stayed in college for his senior year was to party and be big man on campus again. I don't think he loves football as much as he loves being famous.

Look at his facial expression in those 2 photos and it is exactly the same -- he looks absolutely wasted. So much for today's NFL stars who "train" year-round.

It brings to mind a famous quote from the Italian downhill skiing superstar Alberto Tomba (if anyone remembers him from the 90s). He was noted as being infamous for his playboy status and lifestyle, and when asked if he was changing his ways and maturing as he got older, he said something along the lines of "oh yes. Before, when I was younger, I used to (party) with 3 women up until 5 o'clock in the morning. Now that I am older, I (party) with 5 women only till 3 o'clock in the morning" :p:p:p

Good times, good times!

I really dont see how an injury has any bearing on either this off-field/personal/private situation or what you perceive as maturity.

Sometimes it takes an extreme situation (i.e. season-ending injury) for a person to realize what's important in life, and re-direct their focus. Obviously Leinart is not one of those people. That was my point.

I think all of that needs to be put into perspective on an individual basis. There's absolutely nothing wrong with doing that as many of us have done the same thing. The problem with Leinart is that his young pro career has been marred by a lack of preparation and focus thus far, and doing crap like this, with zero reports of him become more dedicated to the game, really makes you wonder if he's going to get it or not.

This has to be the knee-jerk, over-reaction post of the year..

As I said, this isn't about young players partying. This is about our QB of the future (who has shown very little inclination to bust his ass or perform on the field) using bad judgment again. The girls were underage at his house. He is a high-profile community "leader."

you guys are making way too big a deal about this, they guy is young, rich and famous...so let him enjoy his luck and success while he can. You think he's the only pro-athlete having fun in the off-season? That said, he's a an overrated bum who won't last too long in the NFL, so I say enjoy it while you can.

[What is with the 2006 NFL Draft class? Vince Young, Reggie Bush and Matt Leinart were amongst the most hyped pro prospects ever yet they don't seem to be interested in working hard to improve their games on the field, none of them are even close to being elite players at their position.

and how do you know Bush and VY aren't trying? You know it wasn't too long ago your homeboy Eli was being crucified at the stake by Giants fans, the NY Media and the NFL all around. I say give them time and give them a chance.

He's had a pro-career marred by the fact that he got drafted by freakin Arizona Cardinals.

Why are we assuming these girls were underage? Because they look young?

People can throw stones all they want, but if I was a 24 year old millionaire who was good looking and famous, I'd be having fun with it. I don't know if I'd let pictures of my holding a beer bong for a girl show up on the net, but that's life. He's a celebrity, and he has been one for years now, he can handle it.

I'm sure Kurt Warner would never condone this behavior being a Christian man. Even though you mentor someone, they still have the freedom of choice. If they choose to make mistakes then they take the hard road in life.

:eek:Why can't Matt have fun in the off-season? This didn't happen the night before a game!! Because he is a NFL QB he isn't allowed to throw parties at his own house? It's funny that so many people think sports athletes sole reason for living is to put our lives ahead of theirs.

Easy there tiger. My concern isn't that he's partying, it is his poor judgment. Can't he party with someone over 21? Hell, if he provided any of the liquor he's breaking the law. I wish he'd just put down the beer bong and pick up the play book.

If in fact they were under age that would be a very stupid decision, I 100% agree. Though, I'm sure he spends a lot of time learning the playbook but thedirty.com or any other gossip Web site doesn't post those "Boring" pictures. If he has a bad season again people will continue to lash out at his lifestyle and if he leads them to the playoffs they will turn the other cheek:rolleyes:.

Honestly i think alot of this stuff is dumb to report and to take pictures what he does in the off season in his free time is weak(though the pics of the girls are nice). I mean i can see if it was during the season and these pictures were taken the night before the game. Yes his career has been a disappointment so far but going back through the history of the game look how many have been successful and look how many have been a let down.

Oh my god, arrest 90% of the ****ing country then.

Just curious, did you ever go to college? Since I mean, 95% of anyone I know in college drank from ages 18-20.

I think youd find it hard to find any player [especially a QB] that is an elite player at their position inside of three years pro. Never confuse hype with ability.

umm. I Think Matt was more hyped then Adrian Peterson and no one in there right mind could have thought Peterson was going to have the year he had. I personally dont think Matt will be a elite QB in the NFL, Bush will be good, and I honestly think Vince Young will do what Michael Vick couldnt(win a superbowl or at least get there). Although I dont have a problem with Matt living life or whatever but it does take a mature player to become an elite player(I know their are exceptions so dont jump on me) All Matt did this past year besides get hurt was cry about his starting job.

This is so lame. When you disagree, go for personal attacks. Moreover, as a 11 year season ticket holder of a terrible team, I just want them to improve. Leinart is the #1 guy who needs to get better.

As I said in the first post, this isn't about partying, this is about bad judgment. But if you don't agree with me, just ask the team. They issued a statement criticizing him as well.

As for the other comments, of course I went to college. Leinart is free to party, but be smart about it. Keep the girls 21+ for instance. Remember that he is no longer a college frat boy, he is a graduate and paid a ton of money to be professional and prepared. The beer bong isn't exactly the leadership he needs to exhibit.

I live in Az and this is the problem with Leinart, He is very very immature. Last year when warner got put into the game you saw Leinart standing on the sidelines like a baby with his helmet in his hands. Leinart needs to grow up. There was a story in SI last year about how his parents take care of his bills for him. The guy better grow up quick or else he is done.
