View Full Version : 5 Retired players from your favorite team for Cooperstown series..

I got to thinking about future "Cooperstown" lines. I have Cooperstown in quotes because I don't believe that every player in the line has officially been in the HOF at the time of their figure's release.
Anyway, here's my idea...List 5 players you'd like to see in the Cooperstown line eventually. I would say, 4 players who deserve to be in based on stats and one FAN FAVORITE that you think would sell in at least YOUR city.
Here's my list for the Cubs....
1. Ernie Banks (should have been done before Ryno, but he'll get one)
2. Ron Santo (He'll be in eventually)
3. Andre Dawson (So will he)
4. Fergie Jenkins (Led the team in Ws multiple times)
5. Mark Grace (While he likely won't make the HOF, he led the majors in hits in the 90s and Cub fans loved him. He'd sell really well HERE.)
Well, that's my take. Let me know what you think or who you'd put in your series.

WOW!! Charlie Hough with a cigarette would be funny!! I remember when I was a kid, going to get autographs at Comiskey. Charlie Hough always signed and you'd see his smokes in his pocket. First time I ever realized that some baseball players smoked.

4) Steve Garvey (Sorry Dodgers fans but when he came Out of the Blue in 1983 and hit that homerun against the Cubs in 1984 he cemented his legacy as a Padre ... not a Hall of Famer but Hall of Very Good player)
5) Randy Jones (Crafty Left hander with a great hair that would be fun to sculpt)

Others have posted about my favorite team, but I'll add my opinion as well.:)
New York Yankees:
Lou Gehrig
Thurman Munson
Whitey Ford
Goose Gossage
Phil Rizzuto
Alternates:
Ron Guidry
Graig Nettles
I hope all of the above players get made at some point. It was very difficult for me to choose only 5 Yankees (hence the "Alternates" section;):D).
Honorable Mention:
Lefty Gomez
Tony Lazzeri
Red Ruffing
Dave Righetti
Earle Combs
Casey Stengel
Probably more guys I forgot that will come to mind after posting this:o:D
*I think guys like Wade Boggs, Rickey Henderson, and Dave Winfield would only get Yankee figures as chases, so I didn't choose them, since I prefer the Yankees version to be the regular figure.
