I have been twice. First time my seats were in the middle of the backstretch. 2nd time we were between turns 1 & 2. I liked the seats between the Turns a little better. I love going to Charlotte. Word of advice. Make sur you find a place to park that is on the same side of the track as your seats. Both times I have had to walk all the way around the track. Not fun.

I love how the fans booed him when he got out of the car. Cant he take a hint that probably less than 2% of the people there are fans of him? Anyway.. I was hoping Harvick would pass him, or punt him.
Harvick's just saving it for tomorrow :p.
I think Kyle likes being the bad guy. Everyone hated Kurt and he is still trying to clean his image over. Kyle got most of his hate from Kurt's profile and has certainly added to it, but Kyle seems to not care. If the people don't like you, you might as well take pride in your hatered. If you can't be the fan's hero, you might as well be their villian.
Right now I'd say it's a 4 person race for the top villian.
1. Jimmie Johnson
2. Kyle Busch
3. Kurt Busch
4. Greg Biffle

I agree. What's the whole point of strategy, getting your car handling great, and all that, when someone can just almost wreck you at the end? I blame that whole mess of Busch/Kenseth, Kenseth/Gordon on Dale Jarrett! He was holding everyone up, and from what they said he wasn't even racing for position! He should know better than that!

my thoughts on the race:
Rubbin is Racing is the saying and its the way Nascar was built before any of us were watching it. 160,000+ fans twice a year can't be wrong!
Waltrip is an idiot, plan and simple......getting into debris doesn't explain why you plow so hard straight into a wrecked car (reminds me of Gordon's move two years ago early in the season)
Biffle had a right to come back after all he only got one luckydog pass, the others were earned and he had the strongest car early on.
Busch's celebration was *** but at least it was different and pertinant to the weekends weather, so I thought it was funny.
If I had only seen the first lap, it would have been alright by me. That made my day just to see the whiney baby have trouble right from the start.
Gordon impressed me with his temper, but Kenseth was coming over to apoligize.
Jr. is on the move fellas, he is looking better than he did in '04!
Brent Sherman had to have had the worst day of all..........I counted four different spins that he took by the top 35 guys punting him. I wouldn't be surprised if he had a concussion!

It was an interesting race last night. The thing about Bristol is this. There's a big difference between first and second place. I can't stand Kurt Busch as much as the next guy, but I can see why you would do a bump and run to win the checkered. But there's not much of a difference between third and fourth. Gordon made a clean pass on Kenseth and he just came back and knocked him out of the way to regain position.
I can't be too mad at Kenseth b/c he completely realized he was in the wrong and totally apologized for it. But a move from 3rd to 21st is pretty crazy, and it's just not something you do.
Now Gordon bumping Truex out of the way, he said it was his fault too, but he was a lap down anyways. I was cracking up when Tony got in the back of him b/c he was holding them up.

Ok here is my media from Bristol.
Here (http://photos.yahoo.com/mviperg) are the pictures I took. Seeing Kurt Busch win in person is even worse than on tv :(.
Here (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=46T2dmlSEUc) is my recording of the final 4 laps or so. It was hard to tape because people kept bumping into me and I was trying to watch the race and tape at the same time ;). The video is of very bad quality, but you do get an essence of the atmosphere at Bristol. If you need help understanding it the blue car is Busch and the black one is Harvick. I just wish Kevin could have gotten to Kurt :D.

The cool thing was that Fred lives on the east Side of Chicago and sent me his phone number and a little note saying anytime I would like to come and see his trophy room to give him a call. This I may have to do sometime soon - how cool would it be to hold the D500 trophy from 1965.

you guys going to Michigan race..........I went there the last two years.
Remember, they don't say it has the worst traffic for nothing............get there early, like 7 am or you will spend three hours in traffic, thats no exaggeration. After the race, stay at the track looking at souvenir trailers, grilling out, watching post race interviews whatever.....we didn't leave until two hours after the race and it still took us about 45 min. to get down the 7 mile stretch of road to get to the highway.
Also, they have the cooler restrictions as well...........soft sided coolers that hold twelve packs are allowable........beers are $10 a piece inside.
As always, the best time to hit the souvenir trailers are 7-7:30 am or during a long green flag run during the race.

Yes, He Really Said That.......
Sebastien Bourdais, on the state of Champ Car and the IRL. "Both series are struggling so bad financially, and the teams can't put programs together and the drivers aren't getting paid anymore . . . If they don't try to make it (merger) happen, it will die. I think it's very straightforward. Either we succeed at this unification or we'll all be out of jobs very soon."
I just found this humorous.......I hate to see any racing suffer, it's just for so many years, open wheel driving was 'supreme' and now, they can't even manage to stay in business it seems.

Here is some intersting news. I hope he doesnt land in the 25 car.
Papis hooks up with Hendrick
Racing series NASCAR-CUP
Date 2006-04-18
By DC Williams - Motorsport.com
After seeing four-time Nextel Cup champion Jeff Gordon sitting on last-year's end-of-season, championship-race sidelines, Hendrick Motorsports is getting serious about utilizing every possible edge it can employ in the race to assure itself more spots in this year's Nextel Cup Chase for the Cup.
Veteran Rolex Series sportscar racer and championship-winning driver Max Papis will be hooking up April 26-27 with No. 48 Lowe's Home Improvement Chevrolet driver Jimmie Johnson -- who alone represented Hendrick Motorsports in last year's Chase - at Virginia International Raceway in an effort to help the team refine its road-course car setups.
"Mr. Hendrick said I was to be their test driver for two days," Papis said. "That's all it is."
Papis has made no secret of his desire to get into a Cup ride and has in the last few years tested for Nextel Cup teams, including Hendrick Motorsports and Evernham Motorsports, in his quest to do so.
In 2006, Papis is driving for Team Corvette in ALMS endurance events and has acted as a fill-in driver for various other sportscar teams, but has otherwise been out of a full-time sportscar ride.
Owed to a late-2005 miscue while awaiting a failed possible second Chip Ganassi Racing DP ride -- during which Papis turned down at least one other top-shelf Rolex Series DP team -- the Italian already has started his quest to find a solid, season-long 2007 DP ride.
"Chip tried his hardest to put together a second team but it just didn't work out," Papis said. "But if I had to do it over again, I wouldn't have changed a thing."
"What I'd really like to do in 2007 is do a full Rolex Series schedule and some NASCAR races on off weekends," he said, adding that he's already had discussions with a top-level Daytona Prototype team for a 2007 ride in that series.

One of the Manufacturers pulling out of NASCAR? an autoextremeist.com column is reporting that: It has come to our attention that serious discussions are taking place for the first time in the conference rooms of one domestic manufacturer in particular on a subject heretofore unthinkable in Detroit. The subject? Pulling out of NASCAR. Yes, it has been mentioned before, and I have predicted it for months now - ever since the announcement was made that Toyota would be buying its way into the France family circus - but we have confirmation that not only are the discussions taking place, they're so far down the road that a timetable for a pullout has been created, taking into account the end dates of existing contracts with individual racing teams currently aligned with this particular manufacturer. This Detroit manufacturer has decided that if it competes in motorsports in the future, it will only compete in three basic areas: 1. In production-based racing series that by rule and specification retain more than a passing resemblance to the cars they sell and the competitors they compete against in showrooms. 2. "Technical" efforts, in other words, engine programs for open-wheel and prototype racing series, but stopping short of Formula 1. And 3. Developing an effort to compete for the overall victory at Le Mans. Any other efforts, grass-roots racing, drag racing, etc., would be covered as the need and budget allow.(in part....see full article at autoextremeist.com, note: thr article doesn't say which manufacturer COULD be leaving [Chevy, Dodge, Ford] and this column will only be up a few days), Peter M. Talk about some huge news on jayski here. It also kind of leads to which manufacturer could be leaving. My feeling is that by the list of demands that actually it would either be Chevy or Ford, which would be huge. The reason I think that is that they are both involved in Le Mans already. I would lean more toward Chevy since they have the Vettes but I just thought about the Aston Martins (ford) that run at Le Mans as well. I also know that Ford has a history of all out Le Mans victories with the GT40s. I just dont really see Dodge being that involved in Le Mans, they ran Vipers back in the late 90s to about 2001, but havent done anything since.

If Ford or Chevy pulls out of NASCAR it will cripple the sport. People are more passionate about the manufacture than the driver.

I dont think the new, younger breed of fans care about the manufacturer.... so I highly doubt it would "cripple" the sport.
I agree with that. The higher ups have shown they dont care about the old timers any more. Look at all the great "old" tracks they took races away from.

Thats an interesting article. Last night on XM's Wide Open show, the host read an article that I think he said was from Autoline that talked about Ford and one other manufacturer already in talks with Nascar about possibly making the Busch series a "factory" type series. Where they'd run Mustangs, Camaro's, Solara's, Challengers. Kinda fits in with hearing this story from Jayski.

these posts were taken from other message boards but they make the most sense......
I think it's quite obvious who the manufacturer is that could be leaving NASCAR. After many of the teams complaining about the Charger, and some jumping ship to the Toyota camp, Dodge's days in the sport may be numbered.
I was doing some research at work today and looked at the (3) basic areas the article said the manufacture would rather concemtrate:
1. production-based racing series - lots of Dodges in those series...makes sense
2. engine programs for open-wheel and prototype racing series - not sure about prototypes, but Dodge supplies engines for a lot of sprint car types.
3. Developing an effort to compete for the overall victory at Le Mans - Dodge has never won overall at Le Mans (neither has Chevy, but they have a program that is competing, also Ford has won overall at Le Mans). Drag racing - Dodge is active in Drag Racing already

Truex honors Earnhardt with Talladega victory
Martin Truex Jr. blocked a final surge by Kevin Harvick as the two-time defending Busch Series champion won the Aaron's 312 at Talladega Superspeedway on Saturday.
Truex, making his first Busch start of the season, has won all three races at Talladega in which he has completed in the series.
Driving for Dale Earnhardt Inc., Truex celebrated by holding 3 fingers in the air. April 29 is Dale Earnhardt's birthday.
Kyle Busch was third, Brian Vickers fourth and Clint Bowyer finished fifth.
Tony Stewart was involved in the scariest crash of the day. Stewart, who had led 25 laps, got in front of Kenny Wallace and bumped.
Stewart's car flipped into the air and landed on its side. It was then hit by Danny O'Quinn Jr. and finally slid to a stop upside down.
Stewart, who took responsibility for the collision, was walked under his own power to the infield care center, where he was treated and released.

I know man, and his spotter was telling him to slow down and he never let off once until he rammed Harvick.
On the plus side, we got a lot less damage than the others in the crash. We're still in the late twenties just by staying on the track and making laps. Big picture racing today ;) .

Yeah true about big picture racing. I think they said there are about 4 cars ahead of him in points that are in the garage. I still cant get over that idiot. His spotter told him way ahead of time. He is such a moron. Stuff like that is why Id like to 36 cars on some tracks.
