It's very hard to NOT root for Jr at Dega, especially with that paint scheme. I was never that big of an Earnhardt fan, but I would love to see that car in victory lane.
Or better yet, victory lane after doing a Polish Victory Lap ;)

Truex honors Earnhardt with Talladega victory
Martin Truex Jr. blocked a final surge by Kevin Harvick as the two-time defending Busch Series champion won the Aaron's 312 at Talladega Superspeedway on Saturday.
Truex, making his first Busch start of the season, has won all three races at Talladega in which he has completed in the series.
Driving for Dale Earnhardt Inc., Truex celebrated by holding 3 fingers in the air. April 29 is Dale Earnhardt's birthday.
Kyle Busch was third, Brian Vickers fourth and Clint Bowyer finished fifth.
Tony Stewart was involved in the scariest crash of the day. Stewart, who had led 25 laps, got in front of Kenny Wallace and bumped.
Stewart's car flipped into the air and landed on its side. It was then hit by Danny O'Quinn Jr. and finally slid to a stop upside down.
Stewart, who took responsibility for the collision, was walked under his own power to the infield care center, where he was treated and released.

I know man, and his spotter was telling him to slow down and he never let off once until he rammed Harvick.
On the plus side, we got a lot less damage than the others in the crash. We're still in the late twenties just by staying on the track and making laps. Big picture racing today ;) .

Yeah true about big picture racing. I think they said there are about 4 cars ahead of him in points that are in the garage. I still cant get over that idiot. His spotter told him way ahead of time. He is such a moron. Stuff like that is why Id like to 36 cars on some tracks.

Just received the 2 boxes of 05 Press Pass Premium I ordered from Ronark for the pack prizes. That means we still have about $280 left over from the $400 taken in, but that doesn't include paypal fees, or shipping the packs out. There are 40 packs in the 2 boxes, so there will be 4 left for prizes. Damn I want to open these. LOL!!! Also, in the box from Ron, were two boxes of SP Signature golf with 6 8X10' autos per box for the Fantasy Golf League.

I will when you guys tell me what you want to do! We can do the $$$ to first and second, and maybe 3rd if you want it that way, or I can purchase some boxes of cards or whatever. I've posted several times asking for input, and nobody replied. Everyone seemed to want the weekly pack winner thing, so I went ahead with that. Balance collected from 20 guys after paypal fees was $390.04. 2 boxes were $120, shipping included. That leaves about $270. Thoughts????? :D

Damnit! I DVR'ed the race b/c I was working. So I watched it last night, and the last 10 laps were so nervewracking! W/ three laps to go and the 24 in the lead, I had to fast forward it b/c I couldn't stand the anticipation. I was disappointed to see him slip back to 15th :(. But at least two Hendrick cars were in the top 3.
That must be frustrating as hell to have to the top two cars Gordon and Sadler finish 15th and 16th. The race was extremely entertaining but disappointing if you're a fan of either of those cars. I agree w/ the announcers that in the last few laps, no one is going to help the fastest car on the track.

Those little guys being:
Burton
Kenseth
Biffle
Newman
Edwards
Bowyer
Ky Busch
Hamlin
Wimmer
Sadler
Waltrip
Yeley
Sorenson
Kahne
That's 14 Cup regulars tonight, not counting the likes of Ku Busch, Martin, Mears, McMurray, and Riggs that he's also beaten to win races. Let's not kid ourselves that the Bush Series only has low competition.
But if you want to not count those 3 wins fair enough,
2006 Wins
Harvick- 1
Gordon- 0

I know that I am going to catch flack for saying this, from the Harvick fans for sure. If Harvick wins the Busch championship this year, Nascar really needs to do something about the Cup boys driving in the Busch series. If it is not giving them points or limiting the number of the races that each driver can drive. Something would need to be done. No Cup driver should be able to get the Busch championship.

It hurt him, but it didn't cost him the win. He was coming back up through the field after that last caution until the car sputtered out. We were in a bad position there with all the cars behind us.
Should of won, but can't be that sad with a 3rd and 2 spots picked up in the points ;).

a few weeks back Rusty made some desparaging comments about Jeff 'the CreamPuff' Gordon and I've been looking for it in here and I can't seem to find it.
Anyway, he basically was saying how he thinks Gordon has too much on his plate and his desire to win wasn't there right now and he (Rusty) didn't see Jeff winning another race until he basically got his act together. I don't agree with those comments but I thought they were pretty funny so I posted them........or so I thought.
And now, Jeff has responded to those comments:
Yes, He REALLY Said That
Jeff Gordon, responding to Rusty Wallace’s comment that Gordon isn’t focused on racing. "I laugh because a lot of people could have said (about) him, 'Well, had he stopped being the crew chief and the driver years ago, he may have won more races and championships.' "
Now, that was funny!

I can't stand Kurt Busch but this is a nice jesture
Kurt Busch donates $1 million to Victory Junction: The Kurt Busch Foundation donated $1 million to Victory Junction Camp in a ceremony Friday at Lowe's Motor Speedway. The donation will fund an indoor 28,000-square foot facility for sports and will be called the Kurt Busch Superdome. "I can't believe I was able to come together with the Pettys and put this program together. It's a good launch for the Kurt Busch Foundation and how serious I am about it and the initiative to try to get kids into sports and put a smile on their face at the end of the day. We'll have some fun with it. I've been to the camp quite a bit and this will make it to where I really want to be there and put my hands in the mix and make a difference with the children. When you go to camp and see what Victory Junction Gang Camp is all about, it looks like a candyland to children. It's very special to me, and to have fun with it is the No. 1 thing. Your heart pours out to them (kids at Victory Junction Camp). They can't live ordinary lives or sign up for Little League baseball in their community. You feel like you can make a small impact in their lives if they've got a place where they can fit in together and all feel welcome." ESPN covered the announcement, as did SPEED. Two Charlotte TV stations and a Greensboro station were on hand, along with XM Satellite Radio and several local radio stations.

CONCORD, N.C. -- Tony Stewart cut a right front tire heading into Turn 1 on Lap 33 and slammed the outside wall hard. The crash came just four laps before the team's first planned pit stop of the night.
Stewart remained in his car for several minutes after it came to a stop inside Turn 2, and he got out gingerly with assistance from trackside safety personnel. He held his right arm, injured Saturday night in a crash during the Busch Series race, as he walked to the ambulance.
Following his trip to Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte, it was revealed that Stewart had sustained a "minimally displaced fracture" at the tip of his right shoulder blade.
Stewart is scheduled to meet with Joe Gibbs Racing team doctors on Tuesday for further evaluation. Stewart's condition will be updated following that evaluation.
Crew chief Greg Zipadelli had just asked for Stewart's opinion for changes during the upcoming stop when the accident occurred. Stewart turned down into Turn 1 and the car went straight to the outside wall.
Zipadelli said the bead apparently melted on the right front tire, which triggered Stewart's trip to the wall and ultimately, the hospital.
"We don't understand it," Zipadelli said. "The outside of the tire looked good; just the inside on the bead was torn up. We were just talking to him [when the accident occurred], and he was relaxed and confident. We were just making it good for later tonight."
Immediately upon hearing the news that Stewart was on his way to the infield care center and that the car would be towed back to the garage, Joe Gibbs Racing officials began locating Mike Bliss, who is the team's relief driver.
Team officials called Bliss to stand by in case Stewart was unable to shake off last night's injuries, and were planning to put him in the car if they got it fixed. Zipadelli said that wouldn't be the case.
"There's too much damage to the right front suspension," Zipadelli said. "We don't want to put him out there with the kind of load that the suspension takes here. We'll just go to Dover and catch up."

To let you guys know where I was sitting, where Tony's car came to rest in turn 2 that was directly below me. I was up on row 74. Wasnt bad being under the boxes until the sun started going down over turn one and was directly shining on us, but that was only for an hour or two.

My mom and aunt (twin sisters) were both at the Mansfield truck race (Mansfield is like 25 minutes from me). It was Mom's first ever race of ANY kind.
Next year my uncle (Mom's sister's husband) and I are going to the truck race to HOPEFULLY see our fave Nascar driver (Mark Martin) race!

http://i.a.cnn.net/nascar/2006/news/headlines/cup/05/31/dearnhardtjr.bowtie/384.Budweiser.jpg
On Father's Day at Michigan, Dale Earnhardt Jr. will race a cream-colored No. 8 Budweiser Chevrolet in a nod to grandfather Ralph and father Dale.
Dale Jr. to race vintage scheme on Father's Day
No. 8 car honors three generations of Earnhardts at Michigan
Leave it toDale Earnhardt to have such a lasting legacy -- not so much behind the wheel (although his talents there transcend the sport), but rather on the cars' paint schemes.
The Intimidator paid tribute to R.J. Reynolds' 25th anniversary with a special silver paint scheme at The Winston in 1995. Since then, one-off paint schemes have become the norm; rare is the race when there isn't a tribute to something.
Five years after the passing of seven-time NASCAR champion Dale Earnhardt, he still inspires respect -- and quite a few grins.
On Father's Day at Michigan, the latest in DEI's line of tribute paint schemes will take to the track when Dale Earnhardt Jr races a "throwback" No. 8 Budweiser Chevrolet in a nod to grandfather Ralph and father Dale.
The predominantly cream-colored car will feature vintage Budweiser bow-tie logos which were introduced in 1956 -- the same year Ralph Earnhardt won the NASCAR National Sportsman title, a series that eventually became the modern-day Busch Series. Dale Earnhardt also raced a similar paint scheme when he began his NASCAR career in 1974 -- the same year Dale Jr. was born.
"I love that era, and I like the look of the car," Earnhardt Jr. said of the vintage Bud machine. "If I can't go back in time and race in the 1950s, at least I can drive a car that looks like it's from the '50s. I've always liked bold, simple paint schemes, and it'll be cool to drive a car that looks so similar to what my dad and grandpa drove."
DEI also rolled out Intimidator-themed schemes for all of its cars at Talladega in May. Dale Jr. raced a black and silver No. 8 Budweiser car at Talladega on April 30 to celebrate his father's induction into the International Motorsports Hall of Fame.
"From the early days of our sponsorship of Dale, to our current involvement with NASCAR and Dale Jr., Budweiser has always been proud to be associated with the Earnhardts and their great racing tradition," said Tony Ponturo, vice president of global media and sports marketing, Anheuser-Busch Inc. "We think the fans will really appreciate this vintage car honoring two of racing's all-time greats, Ralph and Dale, on Father's Day."
While Dale Earnhardt, a seven-time NASCAR champion, is most famous for driving the black No. 3 car with Richard Childress Racing, he raced much of his early career with the No. 8 on his cars, the number also used by his father Ralph.
Ralph Earnhardt was selected as one of NASCAR's top 50 drivers in 1999.
Dale Earnhardt Jr. has driven the predominantly red No. 8 Budweiser car to 17 victories since joining the Cup Series in 1999. He became the first third-generation NASCAR champion when he won the first of two consecutive Busch Series titles in 1998.
Junior also is the host and executive producer of Back in the Day on SPEED, a show that celebrates the vintage era of NASCAR racing in the 1970s.
It was Big E who ran point on getting merchandising under his control. Earnhardt was a pioneer in the memorabilia market, the first driver to take control of any souvenir or retail item bearing his name or likeness.
"What Dale did was to protect the quality and image [of the product]," said Joe Mattes, who served as president of Sports Image, a licensed memorabilia company Dale and Teresa Earnhardt owned from 1995 until Earnhardt sold it to Action Performance in December '97. "He was the first to do it in his style. He was ahead of his time."

Looks good Ray! When are you gonna have a bad week in the Fantasy League? :p :D Can't seem to gain anything on you! :o You need a nice Dewalt car in that display, though. ;) Love those test cars. Nascar is hard to find in the Toronto areas, and when you do see it, the Action cars are $100+ each. Bought a bunch of the cheaper Racing Champions ones from Walmart, but they weren't a big seller here, and haven't seen many since.

I strongly dislike all the drivers in Hendrick Motorsports, but Vickers. The only thing that really comes to mind that he did that I didn't like was dumping Mike Bliss at the All-Star Open in '05.

He is definitely due. He has had some bad breaks that have possibly cost him a few wins over the past couple of years.

Now it appears 2 of NASCAR's young talents are on the move.
It is well known after Daytona that Mears and Johnson are buds, but it would be interesting to see how Mears and Busch would get along if Mears does join Hendrick. And, who will be put in the #42 seat?
It will be interesting to see where Vickers winds up. RYR hasn't had much too celebrate recently, but I see him getting in the seat of the #88 car before a Toyota and a team that isn't establised.
Pocono bump with Hamlin on the pole.
