I have always wanted something signed by JR. I figured I would never have the opportunity to get anything. He has done some signing for his sponsor Drakkar - but would only sign the Drakkar bottle when you bought the pack - $75 or something - NO THANKS..

Well TMP managed to get a handful of Signed series 1 figures from Action and the Sales Director gave me this - just a few days before I was axed.

I was pretty excited - its a little scuffed but its signed by my favorite.... At least something good came from working for TMP.

Page 7 bump! :eek: :( At least I get 1 more year with Rusty! I heard on the radio today that one of the major factors in his decision to retire, was the death of his good friend Dale Earnhardt! Hopefully, he can pound out a couple wins before he hangs the Simpson shoes up! ;) I have a few photos from the mid 80's from an ASA race in Canada (Cayuga..sp?), which have some Nascar drivers before they made it big! I'll post a couple of them in the future if I can find them! :o Mark Martin is one of the drivers! His car is sweet!

LOL, can you imagine the look on the drivers face if Paul were to say "Make it to Dirty Mo Posse."? I am sure that they have had even crazier requests though.

On another subject, has anyone picked up the Comic Book cars that come with supe hero figure? I was at WalMart earlier and saw them. I grabbed 1 of each, and headed to the registers. They weren't priced, but I thought they would be halway cheap. Things were 12 bucks a piece! Wife gave me that look, and I knew that I must put them back. I will have to sneak and buy them in a few days.

Paul, I have been to a few races at TMS and was lucky enough to get the signatures that I most wanted, except ONE.. You probably guessed it, Dale Jr.. It seems that getting close enough to him for him to sign is almost impossible.. My favorite drivers are (1) Gordon, (2) D. Waltrip, and (3) Johnson.. I know, Jr. isn't on my top three list but, I would really like to have his autograph in my collection. I would greatly appreciate anything you might be able to do. Thanks..

Thanks Paul! I have hundreds of hockey autos which are affordable for the most part, but Nascar sigs are really expensive! The older ones with the drivers in their old unis are a little cheaper, so I've been snagging the odd one, here and there, lately off the bay! :D I still think of Tide when I think of Ricky! :rolleyes: Mears is one I will pick up in the near future! Working on a dead guys auto right now! He apparently isn't signing anymore! Well he is actually, but you can't come back from where he is signing! :(

Well I am back from Day 1 at the track and what an adventure today was. My day of racing started at 10:30am when I found out I had the tickets - I bolted out of the door and hauled butt to the Center where the Dale Jr event was to get my ticket.

I make it there in just over an hour and the guard hands me 2 tickets - which was cool, cause on the way there I was thinking - if they are cool looking tix - some of you might have wanted them. They were pretty cool - and I tried to get a few more, but the guard wouldn't give me more than the 2. BASTARD!!!

Its now about noon and nothing is happenin until around 5 - so I decide to go to the track and pick up my tickets/passes at Will Call so I wouldn't have to deal with it in the morning. The track had a whole 2 ticket windows and no by pass line for the Will Call people - I am sooooo glad I went today - with only 7-8 people in front of me I spent a good hour in line.

After I got my passes I decided to take a drive around the track. Low and behold I was able to drive right into the souvenir trailer alley - so I drove in and acted like I belonged there. I took a few photos of the outside of the track. Here is a panoramic of it - pieced together in photoshop.

So after taking a few photos I decide to stroll around the souvenir rig alley - hoping someone was at the CHP booth - because they are giving away some sort of driver cards. I was hoping to strike up conversation and get a few sets - but nobody was at the booth. Then I notice something a little weird.

Hmmm - gates open?? There must be a guard sitting somewhere... So I slowly edge my way closer and low and behold NOBODY there. So I stroll inside thinking at any minute somebody will come and yell at me. So I make a B line up the stairs in front of me to get out of site - thinking someone must be on the concourse - RIGHT? WRONG... nobody. So I decide to head up to the press box area - maybe someone left something laying around. So I jump in the elevator and head on up.

I spot this sign on my way out of the elevator and up the last flight of stairs.

So I drive around this lot for awhile - hoping to maybe find a crew member with an open door or something - but NO LUCK... Damn - I was hoping for some lug nuts or to snap a few photos inside the Haulers... I just wished Jr's Hauler was here..... BLAST...

So I poke around a little more and decide there is nothing left to do at the track - and its only a few hours until the Kasey Khahne signing - so I head out. Well I get on the freeway going the wrong way and when I get off the exit to go back the other way.... What do I catch out of the corner of my eye???

I hang out in the parking lot for a bit to see if the driver returns - but no deal. So I venture inside - I notice a few familiar faces, but my memory is not working and I can't put a name with them - I was tooo focused on scanning for a red head :) - I decide to head to the Kasey signing since it started at 5 and just get there a bit early to stake my ground so I could get to the Dale Jr thing in plenty of time - it starts at 7.

I hit a TRU, WM, and Target looking for a Kasey Die-cast but nothing - so I figure I am stuck with an index card - but oh well. Kasey shows up a freaking hour late - so I am not happy about that - but he does bring his own photos - so he is forgiven.

So I talk to a few people in line and they say Dale is only doing a Q&A and not signing at the event - so I decide to scrap it and go get some of the other drivers and then hit Dale's event a bit late and try and get him to sign on the way out.

So I tear off to try and catch Robby Gordon a few miles away and get there right after they shut off the line... DAMN-IT!!!! But his RCR handler was really cool and said - Robby will finish these people up - no problem... VERY VERY cool. He was giving out little 1:64 cars - but ran out before I got there. He also had his own photo to sign which was cool.

So by now its 7:45pm and I decide to haul to the Dale Jr thing and see whats happening - as I pull up I notice people leaving - so I stop a guy carrying a big poster and say - WELL how was it... Like expected it sucked. He said Jr was there for about 30 minutes signed a few things and then disappeared - this guy even had VIP passes and didn't get anything signed.

So instead of going in and wasting a ticket - I decided to just head home and keep the cool ticket for me and 1 for whoever else wants it.

So off to home I go - on the way I notice its not quite 9pm yet and Kenny Wallace is signing somewhere until 9 - so I call and check and they say he is still there and will be there until 9 - so I squeel into the lot and 9 - and there is no sign of him - but the table he was at - still had a stack of the little photo cards - so I grabbed some - if anyone wants one. Also I grabbed a few of the little Track info cards and these cool little California Speedway patches if anyone wants those too.

Well Day 3 and my final Day at Fontana is done. What a blast. Today I got up early to try and get there for the Mark Martin signing - I got there at 7am and tickets were to be given out at 8 and the line was HUGE... so I said screw it and just headed to the pits to try and secure a good spot for photos for the first Cup practice. I think I found a good spot. Truex had taken the usual spot Dale Jr takes right by one of the entrance/exits from the garage - so I chose right behind them.
It was cool to see the pit go from single little pit cart to full blown pit - I even managed to get a lug nut from the crew ---- -WOOO HOOO!!!!

Today was pretty cool - I was super tired and my feet/legs hurt like hell from all the walking - the way the speedway is set up you park at one end of the track - beyond turns 1-2 - walk all the way to the other side to cross under turn 4 - then walk all the way back to where all the action happens in the pits - past start/finish - and walking back and forth with no places to sit... UGH!!!!! But it was fun as hell - and I would do it again in a heartbeat.

All weekend they have been filming a new Disney movie for Herbie the Love Bug - today I remembered to snap a photo of it - and then low and behold they filmed a scene right by me - one of the stars is Lindsey Lohan (Freaky Friday) and Justin Long (Jeepers Creepers, Dodgeball) - I managed to snaps so pictures of the hot little Lohan and get an auto from Justin.

She was really really cool. At the time Kevin had blown everyone off earlier - and I almost told her "why can't your husband be as cool as you" - but decided not too. After driver intro's Kevin came back to use the restroom - and I plotted my course. I grabbed my photo and headed for the path that they come back down - and intercepted him - Kevin is one of the drivers who only signs a few things - and you have to basically get in front of him and slow him down a few paces. and Walk with him.

I think its a pretty good Harvick auto - I have seen some pretty crappy ones before

You know I hated this new points system in the beginning, but I have to admit they've made these races much more interesting. Too bad that for the first time in a few years we actually have a close points race for the lead, but everyone is paying more attention to the race for tenth :D It's going to be really interesting to see one race deciding 4 spots between 9 drivers.
