JR is the man!! And on the Gordon Auto. card,I think the card itself was part of an insert set in the 1996 Upper Deck set,my guess is they signed 1000 of them and sold them exclusively through QVC,there are probably way more than 1000 cards made, but just 1000 were signed I guess.

The roof flaps didn't seem to work very good. As soon as the air got under the back of the car, it took off like a plane! They flaps were diployed, but didn't stop it from taking off!

Do any of you guys collect die-cast cars? I was looking at buying die-cast of some of the Wizard of Oz cars that run this weekend, and they are much more expensive than I thought. They had the 5 cars in 1:24 size for $60 a piece, or 3 cars in 1:64 size for $20 a pop. Does anyone know of any websites that sell the other 2 cars (Riggs and program car) in 1:64?

I doubt they'd be made yet, but I know Racing Champions does Riggs now, so maybe Walmart will get that one in the near future! They are only $16.92 here in Toronto! They had a Harlem Globetrotters one of him recently!

NASCAR Joke Time!!! :D
I knew I had become a Stock Car Fan when:
...Tailgating became "drafting"
...I started calling slower cars "lap traffic"
...I started lightly tapping the cars bumper in front of me when I wanted to pass
...I started signaling the cars behind me to pass (they probably thought I was "flipping em off")
...I began timing my fuel stops
...I started calling every curvy road in my neighborhood " Glen"
...I found myself pausing after the traffic light turned green to get a better "restart" than the car behind me
...I miss a gear, it reminds me of Pocono
...I began hoping the car in front of me, would "go high" on "clover leaf" exits
and finally, ...I found myself cleaning "marbles" off my tires when I went slow
:D

Top Ten Things You'll Never Hear a NASCAR Driver Say:
10. You know...I just wouldn't feel safe out there without that restrictor plate.
9. Gee...the race doesn't start for another five minutes. I think I'll climb out of the car and sign a few autographs.
8. This new bodystyle seems to give our cars a distinct advantage over the competition. I think nascar should look into this immediately.
7. You know ... it sure is good to see Gordon get a win after that long dry spell he's been going through.
6. Look -- it's John Boy with a garage pass! Hey big guy -- over here!
5. I sure wish Miss Winston would stop pinching me on the butt during driver introductions!
4. Gee guys...some of this stuff under the hood looks a little fishy to me. Let's get Gary Nelson over to take a look.
3. Those new t-shirt designs are a tad gaudy. Can we tone em down a little bit?
2. I'd like to thank the Prince of Darkness for my victory today.
...And the number one thing you'll never hear a NASCAR driver say...
Ford ... Chevy ... heck, what difference does it make, really?

I've busted open 4 (yes FOUR) boxes of the red retail boxes......ZERO Tiger RC's. ZERO! Got a full set of the Tiger Tales cards, and a ton of extras, and a few inserts, but no Tiger RC's. That just sucks lol.
I got a retail box of that (24 packs) at the Toronto Expo for $11 Canadian! Got a Mark O'meara jersey card out of it, which was a tough pull. Tiger RC's were SP'd at about 1 per 3 24 pack boxes!

I guess that the Tiger RC is pretty rare? I vowed to never buy anymore sports memorablia, or cards after the great Sports Memorabilia robbery of 1996. I caved on the sports memorabilia, and now I am caving on the cards. That is why I am so n00b like on cards.
Ok, I'll bite: what is the Great Sports Memorabilia robbery of 1996?

Ok, I'll bite: what is the Great Sports Memorabilia robbery of 1996?
Oh the Great Sports Memorabilia Robbery of 1996. Well, I had an apartment(my bachelor pad). It had 1 big room, of nothing but sports memorablia that I had collected through the first 20 years of my life. I came home from work one night(I was a bartender at the time), and the room was empty. Someone had broke in and stole it all. I had some great stuff(well to me anyway). I found out who did it a couple months later(it was a guy that I knew). He had the nerve to come in the bar that I worked out. Lets just say that he will never forget that night. I found out from a dealer friend of mine that he sold it all to some shady dealer here in town(I think he was in on it), which in turn sold it all out aross the country. After that happened I lost all desire to even look at sports memorabilia, and cards.
That is the story. Dark day in history.

Lets see if I can remember. First, I know that deogg will love this. An autographed 8x10 of Gordon, and a picture of Gordon and myself standing in front of the 24 car(yes that azzhole took that as well). I had plaques of all of Nolan Ryan's no hitters, with the date, and stats from the game, some autographed golf balls(Daly, Pavin, Couples), some nice autographed baseballs, Bagwell(my all time fav piece), Biggio, Ryan, and Bench(My grandfather got me the Ryan and Bench ones), tons and tons of cards. I had complete sets of Topps, Donruss, and Fleer from like 85 to 95, and some sets of studio and upper deck, lots of football stuff, like pictures, some footballs with autographs from players that played at Marshall. an 8x10 of Earl Campbell that was autographed(I got this one in person at a seminar he gave here), a set of golf clubs, some nascar diecasts, and a bunch of slu's. There was plenty more that was of no signifigance, and was of no worth to anyone but me. Little stuff like troll dolls of my fav team that my girlfriend(wife now) would buy me. Hell he even took the fake magazine covers, and news paper articles of me that had stuff like " Jason Wins the US Open with Eagle putt on 18". He also took all of my soccer and baseball trophies, and my HS soccer letters. Even the award that I recieved for soccer my senior year. He took stuff like that and I am sure it ended up in a dumpster. It killed my enthusiasm for collecting for years. Wasn't until last Xmas when my wife bought me 2 sportspicks that I started again. LIke I said, the guy got his. He will never forget that night.

There was a pic in our local paper of me and fairy boy (I coudln't resist lol) from his rookie year. I HAD an auto'd 8x10 and a signed baby Ruth car. That was from the first time I met him. After the second time (when he acted like a total primadonna jackazz).......anything with his name on it got immediately sold.
Still sucks when stuff like taht gets stolen, even if it IS Gordon ;)

Sorry to hear that Jason! That's horrible, and to be honest, I think about that happening to me some day! :( Couldn't the local authorities do anything about it? Dealers here have a rule about stuff like that. They have to go through a waiting period before they can purchase large collections like that! I doesn't mean they obey the rules though! If they are caught with merchandise that is stolen they suffer the consequences. Example: If you had a serial #'d card, and it was stolen, and you had scans of it on disk, or pics, they could be charged with possession. That's what I've heard. I don't know how true it is!

I contacted the authorities, but they just filled out a report, and that was it. From what I understand from the dealer I know, my stuff was pretty much out of the state within 2 days. You know how criminals are. They have to tell someone, and the guy told the wrong person. The guy was an aquaintance, not really a good friend, but someone that had been over to my apartment on more than 1 occassion. Justice was served, and I feel somewhat better that he probably regrets taking it now.
That is actually the main reason that I keep a log of my figures(Thanks Paul for your great site, lol just get the prices back there). Once I get moved in my new house I will take pictures of everything, and actually videotape the collection. I will look into getting it insured through my homeowners insurance as well.

WOW I did not know that had happened Jason sorry to here that.
My house was broken into 3 years ago I had gone to a wedding with the wife (free bar) when we got home I fell outta the van and stumbled into the house I remember it clear as day I walked in and saw 3 or 4 garbage bags on the floor I thought why did the wife leave this much crap on the floor then I saw every cupboard door in the kitchen open and knew what had happened within 30 seconds I had the cops at my door (my wifes cousin is a cop and was around the corner) They did get alot of stuff we lost alot but in thoes garbage bags was my hole collection of NASCAR and NHL stuff. They must have been scared off when my neighbour used my driveway ealier that night what a crappy feeling I would not want anyone to go through that we have had a alarm ever since.

Doesn't look like I will be going to Charlotte. I mentioned it to the wife, and I got an evil grin, and the words "I have something else planned". I don't know what it is, but from her look, and the way she said it, I am gonna bet my next years salary that it will be a lot better than going to a race.

I was thinking the same thing if she has plans it just means you now have all day and night to your self it is kinda mean of her to make plans to leave you to watch the race like that.I think that you just need to go to the race and not think of what kind of fun she is having and try and remember that when you get home you listen to what she did and try and respond with a correct answer to one of her questions.

Phoenix is a little to far away for me to travel from WV. I did have an idea though. Maybe next season all of us can meet at Michigan(I say Michigan, as it would make it easier for our Canadian friends). Maybe start a fund, and everyone pitches in once a month until time for the race, then we can get a section of tickets with the money, and any extra could go towards hotel rooms, etc... Kind of helps everyone out.

I don't hate them personally - It's like hating the Cowboys or the Yankees. It's a sport - you can't like every team. Kurt may be a real nice guy, but I don't like him on the track, he's improving (attitude), but you only get one chance to make a first impression.

I guess I will have to root for Kyle next year, since he is taking Labontes spot on the team. I really need to find some 8x10's to mail to Johnson. I doubt I would get them back by Xmas, but would be a cool present for my son. Gordon isn't taking requests right now, as he is back logged. I am sure the same holds true for Jr.

Jr loses appeal of 25-point penalty...
DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (AP) -- Dale Earnhardt Jr. lost his appeal of a 25-point penalty and $10,000 fine for using a vulgarity during a postrace TV interview.
Instead of leading the Nextel Cup standings Monday by a point with five races to go, Earnhardt trails Kurt Busch by 24 points.

``NASCAR had issued repeated warnings to contestants regarding the use of inappropriate language during live event broadcasts,'' the National Stock Car Racing Commission said Monday in a statement. ``The infraction occurred on-air at the racetrack during the live broadcast of a NASCAR event, not in a casual private conversation or off-site activity.''
NASCAR punished Earnhardt on Oct. 5, two days after he cursed during a live television interview with NBC after winning a race in Talladega.
In its denial of the appeal, a three-person panel called Earnhardt an important ambassador of the sport and a role model

TV watchdog group files complaint with FCC over Junior's language
From Press Release
October 18, 2004
05:40 PM EDT (21:40 GMT)
LOS ANGELES -- The Parents Television Council, the nation's most influential advocacy organization protecting children against sex, violence and profanity in entertainment, filed an indecency complaint last Thursday with the Federal Communications Commission against the NBC network for airing Dale Earnhardt Jr.'s expletive after the Sunday, October 3 NASCAR race.
The PTC and its nearly one million members nationwide have asked the FCC to levy a Notice of Apparent Liability against each NBC affiliate that aired the program.
The program that contained the indecent material was broadcast live around 5 p.m. ET and was seen in homes across the country on NBC network affiliates.
"NBC knows that NASCAR has a huge family audience. NBC and its affiliates should be fined for airing the S-word at a time when millions of children were likely to be in the viewing audience," said L. Brent Bozell, president of the PTC.
"After the fact, NBC announced they would be putting all future NASCAR race coverage on a 5-second tape delay. But frankly, NBC should have taken this action long before the Earnhardt incident, especially given NBC's past problems with indecent language during live broadcasts, including Bono's utterance of the F-word during the 2003 Golden Globe awards.
"This is precisely why Congress needs to increase indecency fines. Television networks need to get serious about halting the flow of indecent material over the broadcast airwaves, but that won't happen when the financial penalties can be absorbed as a reasonable cost of doing business.
"We are demanding that the FCC impose the maximum fine allowable under the law against every NBC affiliate that aired this offense. We further demand that the FCC consider license revocation as a real option given the repetitive nature of these offenses," said Bozell.

After a quite "intoxicating" weekend in the infield in Charlotte I am now recovered enough to make the trip to Martinsville. Damn Ryan Newman cost me $200 in race pools at the track, not as bad as my buddy who had Kasey Khane for $400.

MOORESVILLE, NC -- Martin Truex, Jr. is scheduled to attempt his first NASCAR Nextel Cup Series start in the Bass Pro Shops/MBNA 500 at Atlanta Motor Speedway on Sunday, October 31, 2004.
Truex, Jr. will drive the No. 1 Bass Pro Shops Chevrolet for Dale Earnhardt, Inc. This will be his first Nextel Cup Series start if he qualifies for the race on the 1.5-mile track. His previous attempt was at New Hampshire International Speedway in September, where qualifying was cancelled by NASCAR due to rain.
“I think every driver's ultimate goal is to race in the Nextel Cup Series,” Truex, Jr. said. “I would like to thank Teresa Earnhardt, Dale Earnhardt, Inc. and Bass Pro Shops for giving me this opportunity.”
Currently leading the NASCAR Busch Series standings in his first full year of driving for Chance 2 Motorsports, Truex, Jr. will be carrying some very familiar colors on his car. Bass Pro Shops has been the primary sponsor for 18 Busch Series races for Truex, Jr. and the Chance 2 team this season.
Richard “Slugger” Labbe, a Daytona 500 winning crew chief, will serve as crew chief on the No. 1 Bass Pro Shops car, with Kevin “Bono” Manion, Truex's regular crew chief on the Busch car, making calls on pit road during the race.
Dale Earnhardt Inc. and Chance 2 Motorsports are headquartered in Mooresville, NC and are considered premier racing organizations within NASCAR. DEI currently operates two NASCAR Nextel Cup race teams with drivers Dale Earnhardt, Jr. and Michael Waltrip. The company also has one NASCAR Busch Series team with driver Paul Menard and co-owns Chance 2 with driver Martin Truex, Jr. For further information on DEI and its teams go to www.DaleEarnhardtInc.com.
A major catalog and Internet retailer, Bass Pro Shops, headquartered in Springfield, MO, currently has 23 locations across the United States and attracts some 66 million visitors a year. Stores in Las Vegas, NV and Harrisburg, PA are also scheduled to open this year with more locations planned for 2005 and 2006.

I like Truex almost as much as I like Jr. Truex seems more like Dale Earnhardt than Dale Jr. does, with the black hair and attitude.
