LOL!!!

those are just the NASCAR ones I post :)

Autograph Collecting is my newest hobby - everyday I get excited when the post lady shows up... Kind of what I used to feel hunting for SP's - now I just wait and pick those up cheap of epay - like my NFL8 set $24 delivered.... muuuhaaaahaaaa

My other autos received today were
Tim Allen - with a COA letter from his office
Tia Texada - from the third watch

If you want, I can send you my autograph. It's virtually worthless, but you can add it to your collection.

So who was supposedly on the Hendricks plane?

Bronko
10-24-2004, 03:44 PM
I was just listening to Nascar XM radio and a reporter said there is speculation that a lot of the Hendrick family was on the plane.

exanimate
10-24-2004, 03:45 PM
The son of NASCAR owner Rick Hendrick was among 10 people killed Sunday when a small plane headed from Concord to Martinsville crashed in Patrick County in Virginia.

Ricky Hendrick, a former NASCAR driver, died in the incident. John Hendrick, Rick's brother, and Kimberly and Jennifer Hendrick, John's twin daughters, also died in the crash.

The plane was en route to Martinsville Speedway for Sunday's Subway 500. Jimmie Johnson was driving the Hendrick car in the race and was the winner.

Officials reportedly lost contact with the plane at about 12:30.

The names of the other people who died in the crash are: **** Tracey, pilot, Liz Morrison, pilot, Joe Jackson, Jeff Turner, the VP and General Manager of Hendrick Motorsports, Randy Dorton and Scott Latham.

We will have more on this story at 6 p.m. and 11 p.m.

Now this! :( My thoughts and prayers go out to the family at this tragic time! :(

As soon as Newman did that I flipped to the Rusty channel (NASCAR in -car) - he was quiet, didn't say anything. He chased Newman down after the race gave him a little rub and called him an idot driver. I thopught he would be a little more vocal, almost ran some people over getting back to the garage area though.

I want the 24 to win for a couple of reasons.
My favourite driver, and I have a 20 dollar wager on him in Vegas at 8 to 1. I agree with Batistuta, the 97 wrecks, spins, misses everything comes out unscathed and finishes well. You need that kind of luck to win this thing, and unfortunately for us all I think he will win it, unless he DNF's at some point

Not real surprised by this...Robby out of the 31 cat after the season...

WELCOME, North Carolina (Ticker) - Robby Gordon's 2004 season will be his last as a NASCAR Nextel Cup driver for Richard Childress Racing.

On Tuesday, Richard Childress, president and CEO of Richard Childress Racing, announced that Gordon will not drive the No. 31 Cingular Wireless Chevrolet in 2005 and will pursue a career in the NASCAR ownership ranks.

"Several months ago, Robby told me that his goals included running his own NASCAR Cup series team," Childress said. "Robby is a true racer and I will always be grateful to him for what we've been able to accomplish together and for the positive things he brought to our organization.

"I'm sure Robby will do just fine on his own. His Busch cars run good every week and I'm sure he can translate some of that success to the Cup series. I wish him only the best."

In 114 races with RCR, the 35-year-old Gordon has taken three checkered flags and finished in the top five eight times, including twice this year. Gordon's best finish in 2004 was a fourth in the Carolina Dodge Dealers 400 on March 21.

Gordon has run in the top 10 just four times in the last 23 races, however, and drew criticism for his involvement in an accident in the first race of the "Chase for the Championship." Retaliating after an bumping incident with Greg Biffle earlier in the race, Gordon instigated a crash that wiped out championship contenders Tony Stewart and Jeremy Mayfield.

After finishing 23rd in Sunday's Subway 500 at Martinsville Speedway, Gordon is 23rd in the point standings.

"Driving for RCR has been an incredible honor and is an opportunity most drivers could only wish for," Gordon said. "I've learned as much outside the car as I have in it with RCR, and Richard has taught me a great deal about the business of NASCAR."

Gordon has been with RCR since July 2001 when he took over as an interim driver after Mike Skinner suffered injuries in a crash at Chicagoland Speedway. He was named the team's full-time driver in September - two months before his first NASCAR victory.

RCR will announce Gordon's replacement for 2005 on Friday at Atlanta Motor Speedway, where the seventh of the 10-race championship will take place Sunday.

Sremmez, told me to come into this thread. i had never looked at it, for what reasons i dont know.

Ive been thinking about trying to start collecting some diecast cars and trying to get them autographed. Anyone else into NASCAR and do so. If so whats a good brand of car to get auto's on. I dont want the special edition cars, just the exact replica of the cars that the drivers drive.

also did anyone use to collect the old richard petty stuff. when i was young i had a shrine, then he quit driving and i was like ***, who do i pull for so i went with rusty, now hes quiting, so i think im goin with jr. just thought id share that little story.

I have a TON of 1/64 scale cars. They are all out of the box, some have a few scuffs, but most are in good shape. These are all out of the 90-91 era. I've got Davey Allison (favorite all-time driver) Dale Earnhardt Sr., all those guys. Anybody have any clue what I can do with em? Don't just wanna give em away, but Im not really into collecting them anymore.

10-26-2004, 08:46 PM
Joerrad, it all depends on how much money you wnat to spend. If you want to get them signed you'll probably need to get 1:24 scale. You can go all out and get like Action ones but they are pretty pricey. They come with opening hoods with complete engine and a lot more detail. Or you can go with like Winners Circle (also made by action), which you can but at places like Wal-Mart for about $17. They have all the correct sponsers and are replicas (other than any beer sponsers) They don't however have opening hoods w/engine and the other extras you get with the more expensive versions.

sremmaz
10-26-2004, 08:53 PM
Hey Joerrad - welcome

For cars - it depends on your pocket book. The Winners Circle ones are good for autos - since they are cheaper and if you mail them off and they don't come back - then your not out a ton of money.

Troy posted a ton of addresses for most of the drivers quite a few pages back. I have had good success mailing to the drivers at their team garage addresses. However with the season winding down you will either need to send them out ASAP or wait until next season.

Hope we see you in here more often

Most drivers won't sign stuff like that, especially through the mail, as it would be a tremendous hassle to mail it back to you! It would be extremely expensive to send it to them, and you would have to pay to have it sent back! Dirty Mo Posse had a good point! A card or 8X10 would be a much better choice! :)

sremmaz

Yes - you can send pretty much anything. BUT never send anything that if it got lost, never returned would make you upset.

Card, photos are easiest - just make sure to send a SASE

For photos I sent a 10x13 envelope with the following inside

My photos, letter and a 9x12 envelope with my address and proper postage, with a thin piece of chip-board (like from the back of a tablet) inside.

This works really well - I am starting to take 8x10 clear sheet protectors and cut off the "hole punched" side - so it has 2 open ends, and sticking the photos in there, to keep them from getting scuffed in the envelope.

As for cards I use a #10 envelope and put the cards, letter and a 6 3/4 envelope addressed, stamped inside

Works well

CORNELIUS, N.C. (AP) -- NASCAR driver Jimmy Spencer was arrested and accused of interfering with police officers as they attempted to serve a warrant on his son.

Officers went to Spencer's home Sunday night to arrest James Spencer Jr., 18, on a misdemeanor charge of injury to personal property, police records show. He is accused of pouring paint on two cars at a Cornelius home Oct. 6.

The elder Spencer was charged with two misdemeanor counts of disorderly conduct and resisting a public officer.

Spencer, 47, finished 29th in Sunday's race at Martinsville Speedway. Officials with his team, Morgan-McClure Motorsports, did not immediately return a call Wednesday.

Kasey Kahne will win this week - I'm sorry....what I meant to write was Kahne will have the most dominant car, lead the most laps then - insert unfortunate incident here - and finish 37th.

Meanwhile - K. Busch will blow a tire, spin out, not hit anything, avoid three wrecks right in front of him, run out of gas just before the finish line and finish 5th.

I found this little game thread on a Board that I often surf!!! Thought all you NASCAR nuts would enjoy this NASCAR Challenge!!!

"For those who have never heard of this thread.........its basically a little game.....I give out a clue, and you try to guess what it is. For each correct answer there will be a point rewarded to that person. BUT ONLY THE FIRST PERSON will get the points. Every once in a while i will throw in a question that will be worth 2 points because its extra hard.

Pay close attention to the "Who/What/Where am I" parts......if I say "What am i?" please don't respond with a person....chances are you are wrong!!!

Also, feel free to throw in your own clues if you like....sometimes i can't get to the computer, so it would help move the game along. I'll add on the points from your clues to my tally as well. However if your question was something like "I am From Texas, My first name is Bobby, MY car number is 18, and it's green" then I probably won't add on the points......at least make it a LITTLE challenging".

Let's go ahead and get it started.....

38 is the sweet car because of M&Ms, 3 is the legend, Dale Earnhardt of course, and the last time the number 35 was in NASCAR full time, it was sponsored by Tabasco, and had a flames paint scheme along the sides of the car!!!

I went to the cardshow today and bought 2 boxes of optima, since there are a lot of younger drivers in there and I need some cards to send out :)

First box absolutely SUCKED - no inserts, no autos, NOTHING>.. I was pretty bummed.

Second box - first pack... BLAM-O!!!!! - I would rather have a regular bobby auto - so this baby went to ebay - the last one sold for $177. Hopefully I can get some $$ for this and it will pay for the boxes I bought and I can get a nice Labonte Auto - since the Lug-Nut deal I could care less about - and the #'d part doesn't do much for me.
http://i10.ebayimg.com/01/i/02/bb/1d/5e_1_b.JPG

Looking in the beckett I bought - I did see a card I MUST FIND!!! Its a Press Pass Auto I think, but it has Dale Sr and Dale Jr BOTH SIGNED... that card I WANT BAD!!!

Also pulled a Jamie McMurray Card #/d 100

Hey Paul! The card your talking about is from 2000 Maxximum, and the dual Sr/Jr auto is from the Maxximum Signatures insert, and has a Beckett high value of $1200. US  Sweet card, but out of my league! :( Those dual autos fell at an insert rate of 1:144 packs, and there was about a dozen different duals, so it was a tough pull!

I have to disagree. This is a young kid running the best of his life. Jr. Should not have pushed it so hard. I know he did not really have a choice but there is no way anyone is gonna give up a position that late in the race. Especially someone running in the best spot of there career. JMO

I'm not defending Jr, I agree that he was running wild and probably should have been content with a top 5. But, Edwards said he let off to let Jr in, but didn't let off enough.

Leafsfan1967
10-31-2004, 03:14 PM
Jr admitted it probably was his fault, and when he watches the tape he will agree! He came up on him! A bit of driver error, and most definitely could put some blame on the spotter, providing he could see him enough to clear Jr.! I don't think Edwards did anything wrong! Tony Eury Sr. view on the wreck "We had him passed off the corner," Eury Sr. said. "On the TV, it looked like to me he tried to cut back to the inside and run right across the back bumper and stuffed him." "I don't know what (Edwards) was thinking. He had two tires, (so) he sure wasn't going to run with cars with four tires. I don't know. I reckon that's the way they race in the truck series. I guess he thought he was still there."

I hear you bro! :( I think Jr was a little greedy, and should of been smarter, and took a top 5 finish! It's still not over! ;)

Nothing personal to you Bronko, but that is the biggest load of crap I have heard. Every time something goes wrong with Jr. or his team they are full of a bunch of excuses. Jr. is a good guy and a very good driver but I am getting a little tired of all there ******ing like when they got points taken away, I don't agree with it at all but it has been done before so it has to be done for them as well and every time they wreck or have a bad day it is sombody elses fault. It is crap IMO.

Nice pickup Paul! That one guides for $150! Same autographed insert as the Sr/Jr one we were talking about the other day! I really like the product from that year! Triples were seeded at 1:287 packs!

Joe Gibbs' auto doesn't even look like it says Joe Gibbs, does it? I think Labonte's auto overlapping it doesn't help! I love that card though! :)

Damn. I really want to go to Cali, just so I can go to Pauls and look at his collection of sports memorabilia. I would have to swing by McDonalds first, and get one of those bibs for kids, because I would be drooling everywhere.

took some pics today, I was about 20 rows from the track and got some decent pictures of Jr. (for Posse), Gordon (for ajax) and JJ (for jbndevils) during the driver introductions as they came around the track

also got a good one of Harvick as he completely stalled out right in front of me

unfortunately, I couldn't get any of Jr. as he tried to take out Edwards, we had to leave a few minutes early to beat the traffic so we could take the kids trick-or-treating tonight

Sorrels are you gonna post the pics of my boy Jeff??? I thank you for thinking of us racing boardies!
Its too bad Gordon couldn't have at least pulled a top 10 out of his ***** he would be looking good. Him and Jr. both should have made up some big ground and not just Jimmie. Is it fair to say that no one wants Busch to win the Championship. I'll put on an a Bud Cap before I watch the damn Busch or any Roush driver win anything ... sorry I am not a big Roush guy! Mark is okay but I just dont like Roush...

Hey Paul, I found some old cards and was thinking about sending them out to get autographed. You got any tips on how to prepare the enevelopes to avoid damage to the cards once they're signed?

sremmaz
11-01-2004, 03:35 PM
I haven't had any problem with them

Heres What I sent

#10 envelope
with a letter
6 3/4" envelope addressed to me with $0.37 stamp
2-3 cards

None have come back with any damage yet
I guess if you wanted to be super safe, you could cut a little piece or 2 of chipboard (from the back of a tablet) and insert it into the 6 3/4 envelope for added rigidity - I would put it in there before you send it - so all they have to do is put your signed cards in it - you will need to add proper postage for the additional weight though . I wouldn't put them in a top-loader - since you might get the card back with the top-loader signed.

I've been watching a lot of NASCAR 360 lately and they have shown bits of guys signing while doing phone interviews, and the stuff is soooo rapidly signed - that unless its easy for them, it will probably get mixed up somehow.

Looks like that horseshoe finally fell out of Busch's *** ! :) One more bad finish is all I ask.

I've been watching a lot of NASCAR 360 lately
Love that show - I wish FX would have done it all year, instead of ending when the Fox coverage ended. You really get to see the drivers in their every day life.

The Busch one isn't as good - It's called NBS 24/7..... I believe. I only caught an episode or two - I don't think they really leave the track in that one. 360 really gives you a good look at the drivers - one thing I've noticed - Harvick seems to be an *** on and off the track.
