Hi,

First off, we have made some changes to our objectionable content policy on the SPAWN.COM message boards (http://board.spawn.com/forums/). I have posted an updated version on all the boards. The new policy will be upheld with strict diligence, so make sure to give it a read and if you have any questions feel free to PM myself or Ben V. with your questions.

oh also, being as how i never really read the rules, I am curious about something - are the 5 infractions thing a new deal? I ask because I have heard horror stories about how people are banned/disabled/etc seemingly out of the blue, and are mad not because of that but because they were given no warning and not even sure in the first place why they were banned/disabled/etc. I think the gestapo tactics as such are quite unnecessary and unfair, and hopefully people will be treated more fairly. I can understand if someone starts bombarding or posting nudity or some such and it truly deserves and outright banning. But ya know, sometimes people make mistakes or accidently take things too far, and I know the mods got itchy trigger fingers. You should at least have the decency to fire off a quick warning before shooting someone down in flames with a banning.

It's still going to be a judgment call, if we feel the infraction is severe enough we will ban with out warning. I feel five warnings are more than fair.
We want the boards to be a place where a lot of people with a variety of likes dislikes and opinions can enjoy it without having to defend every little word they type. There seems to be a group of boardies that want nothing more than to argue and get under people's skin, I believe with the new rules that they will be filtered out in a short amount of time
. I think calling it Gestapo tactics is a little over the top, but it's just a matter of people being civil. If they can't, we don't want them to be a part of the community. Simple as that.

I think 5 "infractions" is more than fair, I mean.. lets be honest, if you've done enough to get that far, somethings wrong and I think you need to step back and look at things from a distance.. most boards have a 3 strikes your out.. or one of the ones I mod is kind of a member by member basis.. so if someone slips up, and drops the Fbomb, then we'll just warn them, but if someone just goes off and just goes psycho and starts yelling at everyone and anyone dropping all sorts of racial slurs and swear words, then he gets no warnings at all, lol..

For the most part, I think the mods here do a good job, you guys do need some weekend moderators though, cause sometimes, I don't even wanna come here on the weekends, lol.. are you guys gonna get a little more strict when you come back into the office and see all those "N" threads and other nonsense threads?

Exactly. When it gets to that point, you're not just doing borderline things. You're a chronic problem.

i absolutely agree and feel that 5 is more than necessary. 3 is even more than sufficient. if a boardie does something that the mods don't agree with, a simple warning would be nice. but i know some nice people who seriously have been over-censored and not given reason or warning. i just feel fairness should be given to all.

Of course we try to be as fair as possible.

I have made some rash decisions before and have no problem owning up to them. I've revearsed a couple of bannings. There are also times when people have pleaded their case with me and I still feel justified in the banning.

McFarlane reduces a lot. The bases of the figures get smaller and smaller. This new dragon doesn't seem to even get one at all. Then of course the figures shrink. But still the same money to pay.
