View Full Version : 12 inch Mandarin Spawn owners: Open or Leave in box?

I want to get the most recent Mandarin Spawn in a box...but with the pose he is in, does he tip over alot? I was wondering if it would be better to keep him in a box. I took out my 12 inch Kratos out of the box because he talked and the accessories, but he tips over easy..and him being so big he takes out everything along with him. so does this happen with Mandarin?

if your talkin bout the mandy deluxe. i took mine out of the box and it stands fine.

IMHO, this is one frustrating piece....it looks great but it is hard to balance, and the only way to make it steady was to turn the right foot way around so the back toes are almost pointing straight out. It's sturdy now but that bugs the crap out of me. :eek:

It take a bit of work, but you can get him to stand. Where were you planning on putting him?

Not sure if it's deluxe. It's Mandarin Spawn 2...the one in the action pose not the original Mandarin that stood straight up.

That's what I tend to hear. That is the type of thing that would be enough incentive to keep it in the box.

Probably on top of this cabinet thing along side my other big figures. Maybe have him stand next to Kratos since they are the only two 12 inch, in scale, figures I would have.

Turn the foot around on the bent leg & you'll be fine. If anyone askes, tell them all Mandarin Spawns have a clubbed foot. ;)

That's actually not that bad. So he hasn't tipped over? He's got the sickest design and detail I have ever seen on a character in my opinion, I don't know why I didn't buy him when I saw him at Suncoast and of course I want him now and the Suncoast that had him was closed. They probably had him for mad cheap before they moved or whatever they did.

Another question. Is the 12 inch Mandy Spawn 2 worth it? Is it that much better than the smaller one? I heard the detail is better on the 12 inch (and it seems like it would be) but from the pictures it looks like the 7 inch or whatever size he is looks just as detailed, but I obviously can't see the small paint ares and lines and stuff. So, I guess anybody who has both or has seen both, what made you pick one over the other?

Yea I'm wondering how much too. the first Mandarin Spawn seems to be the overwhelming favorite of the two. Which surprises me actually, even though it has a cool deseign, the first Mandarin spawn has more of a futuristic "alien" type of design (almost like Yoshimitsu from Tekken/Soul Calibur). The new Mandarin defininitly screams Mandarin to me...and I love the design (specifically the beastly, armored, powerful face).

I would definitly be happy with either one.

That's not a 12" Black Mandy, there is only ONE supersize Mandarin Spawn 1, he is actually teal/blue in colour.

My bf got one for me for Xmas. I opened it & he fell off my desk. His staff broke when he fell. I wish I would have left him in the box.

I love his legs being in a straighter pose. And I even like the custom paint job better..I'm just at a crossroads if I think the red should be gone...

But did he really do that custom or is it just a photoshopped picture?

Photoshop I think but can you just imagine him standing next to Mandarin Spawn 1, that would be a sight to behold. I asks the local customiser for a quote but he is up to his neck with commissions, so I guess I just have to venture further.

I never care much for articulated figures but just this one time, I wish Mandarin Spawn 2 has the option of standing up straight.

Yea...Im not that handy w/ modding toys. I can mod computers but toys are not my thing. :p Looks like im stuck with him doing that stance. O well. :)
