Joe,

Being that the figures were produced, and they won't be released as a dealer inscentive for the Book of the Dead, how about selling them thru the online store.

I figure a couple of thousand would be available for at least an hour or so before they sell out.

Thoughts?

Woo Hoo!

Thanks, Joe.

Edit: If I sold my left nut to get one when it was rare, I'd be running to eBay with it asap!

Pewter figs are overrated IMO, but the pewter Raven looks dope for some reason. :)

You can buy left nuts by the dozen on amazon.com so there is no real need to have it the end all be all in order to obtain the pewter Raven Spawn.

Boy, thank God for small mercy, I wanted to pay a princely sum for it back then but the seller refuses to ship international. :)

At last some light shed on the biggest secret TMP kept for years, I've been asking for ages if these figs were sitting in the warehouse or only a few were produced and they all were so secretive as if I asked the exact location of the Holy Grail...

i guess if money is everything so would i. clearly the figure was going to be released at some point. McFarlane certainly wasnt going to mulch a figure that was produced and packaged. ive enjoyed having 2 of them in my collection for the past 5 years. thats worth the added cost in my book.

With this announcement the value of this figure will go down down down, too bad for the few collectors who had it, not only for the price thing but also for losing the exclusivity of a figure considered superrare until now.

As a McFarlane collector, it's not the first time. The Pewter Raven was never released officially, so it's a special case. However, anyone who has been a collector from day 1 got screwed multiple times over. Just about every 'exclusive' figure was dumped in the Spawn store for mere dollars. It really bothered me that figures advertised as only being available thru a special offer or special venue was later made available to the public, such as the Red Violator, Green Cosmic Angela, etc.

Of course, the flip side is I was lucky enough to get figures like Cannes Spawn, and Throne Spawn thru the club.

Cannes Spawn is worth a left nut.

I dunno, it kinda irks me that people buy things solely for their value and not because they really like it.
I buy what I like, but I hate the fact that most of the things I like are rare. :(

Nightmare Spawn will be my case study here.

He was INSTANTLY worth more money because he's just plain awesome. His fig sold out fast because he appeals to most everyone who digs spawn.

People who SCALP also try to speculate what will gain value in the aftermarket. Because of this, we tend to scoop up as many of the good ones as possible.

ie: I have pre-ordered a BUNCH of the coming Cylon Centurions because they will go fast.

Awesomeness = Value increase.

I think those who buy for value are indirectly buying what they like by default.

Yeah, I'm pretty sure there's an elderly Native American guy standing by a highway somewhere shedding a single tear for the plight of the collector.

They should make this figure a United States exclusive. None for Cananada!

I can see the reasoning behind that...

Most Americans are impressed and distracted by shiny things.

Much like when someone holds out their keys and jingles them.

My parrot really likes it when I do that. It makes him dance. He has a walnut sized brain.
Translation: I think that means I want a pewter Raven Spawn. ;)
But I won't dance for you if you shake your keys. I might squawk though.

That's like the judge saying that something must be done with all due haste/speed. It could take several more years for this figure to come out.

You'd think it would be reassuring to hear a McF staffer saying it will come out, but every time the question has been asked over the years, different staffers claim it will be released eventually. Oh, I'll get one or two when they come out, but till then, there are other figs to find.

I'll just sit here and wait, like I have been.
