Now they are going to have a "new" feature called Madden moments. Basically Segas Situation mode. They put you in a situation that really happened in the past in the NFL and now you have to either relive it or change the past.
Sega did this almost 5 years ago and NOW EA wants to implement it and call it "new?" yeah, new to them.
NFL 2K5 was and still is the best Football game ever made.

EA implemented this feature a few years ago in NCAA Football. You could go back and play the end of the Miami/Ohio State game, the Doug Flutie hail mary, Donovan McNabb's drive, Kordell Stewart's hail mary or plenty of other historical moments. I can't remember what year they started it.

It was NCAA 2004. The mode was called College Classics.

They did it in the Madden 2005 CE. I still have it cause every once in a while I pop it in and try to finish them. I'm stuck on the Steelers comeback against the Browns in the 2002 playoffs.

Who cares? From the looks of it, EA thought of this mode first. Whether it's NFL or college, it's the same mode.

Dead, it was murdered by a payoff man. It's not like it died from being a bad game.

I'm pretty sure madden and ncaa both had this before, maybe not before the 2k series but really, does it matter who came up with the idea first? I'm all for them stealing from each other if it leads to a better game and more options

You can kind of do that with the challenges in NHL 2k8. You play as two teams in the past such as 80 USA team vs 80 USSR team, 01 Avs vs 01 Devils, and stuff like that. They give you things that you have to do during the game to beat it though. Such as get a D-man to score, or have 40 hits stuff like that.
What about the WWE games? theyve been re-living moments for quite a few games now
Is it THQ?
bborst

Not surprised really. All of EA's Madden titles are a constant downgrade from one to another so they need everything they can to keep selling the same old **** over and over again.

If you still have a Dreamcast, I recommend that you hunt down a copy of Giant Gram 2000. It had a historical moments section for wrestling. The main difference was that, even though you still have to change the outcome of the match, you were also trying to relive most of the exact match. You had to do most of the moves that were done in the match and get a certain accuracy percentage to pass. It's still one of the best wrestling games. Too bad the reversal system makes two player matches impossible to play.
Also, Fire Pro Z is another game with a historical matches mode. It actually lets you play all the way through the career of certain wrestlers and alter it as you go. For example, you can play as Sakuraba (the legendary MMA fighter) and he starts off as a pro wrestler just like he did in real life. If you win a bunch of his pro wrestling matches, he never becomes an MMA fighter. You can also play through Ric Flair's story among others.
Of course, both of those games are Japanese and you'll need to go to gamefaqs to help guide you through the menus. It'll be worth it though.

I hate how people (including the original poster) always say "NFL 2k5 was the best football game ever and EA this, EA that, wahhhh wahhhh."
Do they not realize 2K was going to by the exclusive license as well? But they wouldn't be monopolizing the industry? Riiiiight......
Quit *****ing, and 2K5 wasn't that good. Look at the game 2K made recently, the superstar one. That was absolute crap.
And Madden was much better this year than last years version, but people always ***** about and say its the same thing over and over, they can't change it. I mean its not a action / drama game like lets say God of War, there is no script. People don't complain companies put out the same baseball/basketball games every year, but when it comes to football they *****.
Its stupid, get over it.

What he said. New gameplay elements, animations, graphics tweaks, etc. are beyond the token "it's just roster updates" line the haters seem to have saved to a Function key. Disliking EA's monopoly or business practices can be exclusive from enjoying/purchasing a game.

Madden has been trash on the current generation of consoles. I'm still waiting on features from Madden 2005 and for EA to fix things that have been wrong for even longer.
There were so many things broken with Madden 08 from the start. It felt as if the game had passed through about 8 hours of testing.
Excessive fumbles, double INTs, Jump Snap glitch, Franchise FA glitch....and so on.

Wow, you really don't follow games much huh? I guess not. 2K5 had a near perfect rating and the crew that made All Pro Football did not work on 2K5. Most of that team went to EA.

Sorry, you got your facts wrong. 2K (it was Sega at the time) was perfectly willing to go by the same licensing procedures that they always went by. EA was the company that was pushing for the NFL to offer up exclusive rights. The NFL refused for a few years and then finally relented. Obviously, EA has more money and proceeded to outbid all competitors.
EA is responsible for the football market having only one NFL game. Neither the NFL nor any of the other game companies were pushing for exclusivity. That was all EA.
The MLB thing was just to get back at EA. Too bad MLB 2K sucks.
http://www.gamespot.com/news/2004/12/13/news_6114977.html
"The deal, one EA admits to having lobbied for over the past few years, is an exclusive five-year licensing deal granting EA the sole rights to the NFL's teams, stadiums, and players."

People "complain" because they would like to play a good version of NFL football on their consoles. EA hasn't provided that yet this generation. No different than the people that complained that MLB 2K stunk this year and wished MVP was still around.

lol whiny 2k fans making up things to bash EA. Sega didnt invent this and it wasnt stolen from them. Live with the fact Madden still exists and 2k doesnt. Also live with the fact that Madden is a more popular game then 2k. You can have your personal opinion and thats fine. But majority has always said Madden is the best.
