I hope we can see a Rasheed Wallace 2-Detroit Pistons, that's if he is here come SEPT 08. Dumars was pretty please with all the starting 5 players. He stated, no one safe.
Rasheed Wallace 2 is worthy of having his own figure.

Calm down Bulldozer,he's already being made in the next series. :)
For anyone else who may have missed it,the lineup for NBA 15 is:
Kobe Bryant 5
Vince Carter 3
Shaquille O'Neal 2 (Suns repaint)
Mike Bibby 2
Kevin Durant
Ben Gordon
Desmond Mason
Mike Conley (unconfirmed)

^^^ wow, NBA 15 is weak. Looks like I'll only get Durant and Gordon. Maybe a Kobe, depending on the pose.
As for future SP's, Williams, Gasol, Paul and Igoudala are the only one's I'd buy.

Tell me about it. Hey bro, what are your thoughts on this latest Donaghy incident. I'd like to know what a die-hard NBA fan thinks about this. I live and breathe NBA b-ball and this is really leaving a bad taste in my mouth.
P.S: If you're gonna respond, don't do it here, go to the "NBA Scandal" thread, otherwise it's just gonna clutter your thread.

I'm going to post some thoughts over in the Scandal thread, but I'll give you a couple quick thoughts here.As an NBA fan,it makes me very sad.
Not just disgusted or angry, but sad.It really hurts to think that money is so important that it can actually have an affect on the outcome of a game.As a lifelong basketball fan,it makes me wonder how much of what we believe about professional sports is a lie.
I was thinking about this a lot yesterday and while my knee jerk reaction is to get pissed and take down all my NBA figures and stop doing these polls ( OH NOES!! ) I realize that there may be some sinister elements at play, but it doesn't take away from the joy I have felt watching this sport since childhood. With my own two eyes,I saw the San Antonio Spurs overcome late deficits in title clinching games in 2003 and 2005,and while officiating could play some part in a couple trips to the free throw line, they don't make teams go on 19-0 runs where every shot is going in and intense defense shuts another team down. The players do that.
Donaghy is making it out like this has been going on for years, and is implying that the commissioner knows about it,and has even had a hand in much of it.I'm not ready to believe that every NBA title was fixed,or even that certain teams are always given preferential treatment by the officials, but thats not the point. It doesn't matter if it happens rarely or often,it matters that it happens at all.The NBA now has an image issue on par with the steroid scandal currently marring baseball.Everything about the sport is now in question and thats what makes me sad about it.

Yo Disconn, which rookie from the 2008 draft class is most likely to get a SP? I don't think Derrick Rose because a Ben Gordon is coming out so the Bulls are covered, maybe Michael Beasley because the Heat are overdue for a figure, maybe even OJ Mayo or someone like Kevin Love. I really hope they try to get one rookie in next year's lines because it has been keeping the lines somewhat fresh. I don't mind seeing multiple versions of popular players but the lack of variety in the NBA when it comes to players who sell in TMP's mind is ridiculous.

Right now,I'd say Beasley is the frontrunner to be the first of the 08 class with an SP.Rose is a distant second because of the recent Ben Gordon selection, like you just said.
Mcfarlane seems to be playing it safe with big name players these days.I mean NBA 15 has an updated Shaq, which was a given, and a new Kobe figure every couple years is to be expected, but I think making Vince Carter again, and especially the decision to axe Josh Smith in favor of a rehashed Mike Bibby show that the company is still a little out of touch when it comes to player selection.Gordon and Durant are top of the line selections though,so its not all terrible.Plus that rumor about Mike Conley being in NBA 15 indicates that TMP is at least keeping tabs on some of the younger unproven talents.
The ideal lineup for NBA 2009 Wave 1 -Spring 2009
Eight players:
Chris Paul 2-yellow
Deron Williams-home whites
Andre Igoudala-black
Ray Allen 2-green
Pau Gasol 2-home gold
Rudy Ga y-blue (if Conley is in NBA 15,bump him to Wave 2 and replace with Josh Smith)
Tim Duncan 3-silver/black
Caron Butler-gold/black
Thats just my opinion though, there's not a lot of mega stars in it,but its a series I think fans would love.
While I'm at it..
NBA 2009 Wave 2-Christmas 2009
Yao Ming 3 (marquee repeat, its time)
Dwyane Wade 3 (marquee repeat)
Josh Smith (hot young star)
Michael Beasley (breakout rookie?)
Kevin Martin (best player on Kings, could be an All Star next year)
Danny Granger (Pacers are overdue for a new fig,I guess he's the best option?)
then,following the new pattern:
NBA 14's Kevin Garnett 3-Celtic home whites
NBA 15's Pau Gasol 2-road purple/gold
At least thats what I think would sell well.

Even as a Hornets fan I wouldn't mind seeing Ray Allen getting a new figure in a C's uniform.
As for the rookie most likely to get an SP my pick would be O.J. Mayo or maybe Derrick Rose IF he wins Rookie of the Year.

Just so you know the Hornets will be changing their uniforms starting next season and it's been rumored that the yellow alternate might be dropped altogether.
Thought I'd point that out. ;)

Considering how the Finals went, I'd say Ray Allen played himself into a new SP and Gasol played himself out of one.

Allen is a surefire lock, but I also can't see Mcfarlane passing up the opportunity to make another star Laker.
A Lakers Gasol is all but certain.

To be honest though, the guy has like 7 rings.
He hit some big shots but was never an integral contributor to any of the championship teams he played on, most of those were "right place, right time" situations for Horry.
People don't realize how truly mediocre (and that may be pushing it) he was as a player throughout his career, 7.0 PPG, 4.8 RPG, 2.1 APG on 42.5% shooting from the field which is horrendous for a forward and he wasn't even that good of a three point shooter shooting 34% from downtown throughout his career. To be honest, we wouldn't be having this conversation if the creator of this thread wasn't a huge Spurs homer who thinks his team is underrepresented in the NBA lines even though TMP has given them plenty of love.

:(
I never said that.Mcfarlane has given the Spurs plenty of love.Series 10,11,12, and NBA Legends 3 all had Spurs in them. That was four straight series.
Even George Gervin is a part of NBA Legends 4.
I just knew the clock was running out on Horry.Apparently enough people wanted to see him made or he wouldn't have made it this far.
Trust me,I know about his mediocre stats.Horry isn't a stat guy.He just holds a special place in the hearts of the fans in Houston,Los Angeles and San Antonio.
I could buy a custom of him any time I wanted, because they are very popular around here, but I just wanted to see the guy recognized.Whether it was as a surprise figure,or an online exclusive,or even a regional exclusive to HEB grocery stores,i just wanted to see one before he retired.
Anyway, time looks to be about up for Big Shot Rob as he is likely to officially retire in a couple of months. You won't have to see him in these polls anymore. ;)
