View Full Version : Which figure is your biggest disappointment?

CGSPAWN

I am sure this topic has been discussed before.

I would have to go against the grain here and pick the Image 10th Spawn. It's a cool figure, don't get me wrong. I was all over this figure for months before it came out, but in the end the cape just killed me. The proto pics showed him with a completely different cape. Didn't like the new cape nearly as much. This is without a doubt the most let down I have ever been over a figure.

Yours?

the most recent had to be the zodiac line for me

The Zodiac line comes to mind.
The size, the paints, the cancelation of the better looking series 2.

I love the Image 10th Spawn. I have 1 Moc and 1 loose to pose. I think it is the
single best Spawn figure. If I were going to have 1 version of Al Simmons Spawn
it would be the 10th.
I also purchased the Necro 10th Spawn from the collectors club.

Nightmare Spawn from series 31. Great figure in design, but the wings were always either mounted sloppy and uneven, or the wings sagged after a few days. What a shame.

Robhp03
06-13-2008, 09:38 PM
The nightmare Spawn wings are slightly uneven on mine also.
Doesent bother me two much as its the best figure McFarlanes done in the Spawn line in
some time now.
Compare that crooked wing to Series 30,32, and now 34 and 35 and see how you feel.
Im more disapointed in those 4 entire lines.
Series 31 was a great set.

Tho I do look forward to WOR2 in series 34.

Right now I've got to go with the G.I. Joe 25th Anni. Spirit Iron-Knife. His face almost looks like it has an unpainted beard or something. Other than the face the figure is awesome, and Freedom looks great also.

My point being is that I knew the AOS stuff was kiddie crap, and 34 & most of 35 was below par. Nightmare was a great figure but quality control was not there, and the sagging & uneven wings resulted in a big disappointment in terms of execution.
Series 31 was, and may actually turn out to be, the last great line of Spawn.

I dunno, with all the backlash on the boards, maybe we'll see some cool stuff in 36. And 34 (I think it's 34, anyway- the Classics line?) isn't bad.

And I'll say again for the record, I do like the AOS stuff.

With all that said, I was pretty disappointed in the Zodiacs, aaaand with the new Robots line.

for me,personally,it was the DC Direct 13" Batman Begins figure.....i was *** STOKED for this guy...what made it better was that it was arriving the same day as i saw the movie for the first time,so when i got back from the theater i was pumped as i loved the movie and couldn't wait for the figure...and my dissapointment grew as i realized he had a small head,over-proportioned buff body, armor pieces were stitched on the body unlike the suit in the movie, and the too-tight body suit which made posing him near impossible......

The Sabbaticus

Don't get me wrong I love the sculpt and everything. But it's the size. He should have been about twice as big. I wish I could get my hands on a 2-up (or two) of him.

I wish they had used the plastic they wasted on the cart and the little dude with the stool (which I never used and threw in a box anyway) and made him a proper size. (Hmm, could say the same thing about little Bark at the Moon Ozzy too... He's runner up for this category)

Oh, and the teeth on the finished product Sabbaticus weren't as sharp or detailed as on the proto. He looked nowhere near as vicious without 'em

I would say the 12" iron man hasbro figure. I was going to buy one till my nephew got one as a birthday present. Today's toys shouldn't suffer from bad articulation or the lack of articulation.

Yes, they are toys. However, I have expectations based on the overall looks of the prototypes and the price points. What's up Graves? I'm disappointed that I have yet to see a single ash figure with anything remotely close to a dead-on likeness to Campbell. Hell, make that anything remotely close to a remotely close likeness. The guy has a unique face. IT shouldn't be that difficult to make a piece of plastic that looks like him.

Stuff it, champ, I don't claim to be any better than anyone on here, but the only time I've ever been disappointed in something toy-related was when I never got a toy I wanted for Christmas as a kid. Other than that, I don't really put much stock/faith into a product until it's in my hands, since I know there's a big different between prototype and production.

I'm not the kind of person who pays for something without knowing what he's getting, so if you're willing to drop 90 bucks for a DC Dark Knight toy and it was a piece of crap, then who's fault is that? That's less of a disappointment than it is poor judgement. I'll buy something in the store if I like how it looks, I don't sit there comparing proto pics and photos online when the toy comes out, crying foul because the paint doesn't match. **** happens, and it's got nothing to do with me being on some high horse, I just don't give a **** about these things as much as some of you folks do.

And I never said you guys couldn't be disappointed with toys, no skin off my back if you are, I merely stated that man, they're ****ing toys, and I that's my attitude towards them, giving me the ease in which to not waste disappointment on them.

My disappointments:

Halo 3 Figures
Godfather
Zodiac
The new Fantasy Line.

All the above figures are way too small, and while I understand that McF is going for more about articulation than size, when I stand Master Chief next to Edward Scissorhands he looks like a midget. Maybe its just me, but I like all my figures from a manufacturer to be close to the same size. I wanted to buy some of the Zodiacs when I had originally saw the prototypes, but once I saw them at work it didn't seem that roughly 4" was worth $12. And as for the Godfather figure, I have yet to see one that had a really decent paint job in any of the stores around me.

Most I have ever plunked down for an "action figure", and I can't stand it! lol

I haven't been really disappointed with a new toy since Playmore's Capcom Vs. SNK figures, but the only thing that's come close is the McF HALO line. That size and scale, plus the lack of weapon options was very disappointing.

But I have to admit, I do have a hard time keeping my hands off my Master Chief figure. I'm constantly finding new poses for his on-going battle between Revoltech Optimus Prime and Megatron. Sometimes he wins, sometimes he doesn't.
