View Full Version : What would you like to see McFarlane do?

I open most of my figures and I buy from the Spawn / movie side of things more often than others. I don't have any specifics on lines I'd like to see but I would definetly be interested in anything with a diorama, an accessory pack, high articulation point count, or the appropriate use of LEDs. The old Spawn III with the light ups eyes and massive opening cape could be done so much better now a days. I would flip for a Spawn that had translucent necroplasm coming out of the eyes or hands that was backlit with a nice raver green LED set. While it would be expensive to produce I would gladly pay on the high end of deluxe box prices for one at retail. A deluxe Violator with red eyes or glowing necroplasma blood from battle damage would also be insanely sick. I would prefer that the LEDs were operated by a switch or button that you toggle, opposed to one that you have to hold down however I'd live with holding in a button just to see it in action. The brightness and quality of the LEDs and clear plastic used could impact the look of the final product a lot but with McFarlane's standards I would not worry if they ever decided to go there.
What would you like to see in future lines of any type?

I would like to see El Marachi from Desperado with maybe a Salma Hayek figure, Bucho, The knife thrower and Cumpa and Keno (his buddies towards the end of the movie) maybe even figures from once upon a time in Mexico! Jason Bourne figure. I would also like to see Todd do the dark knight figures but I know he does not own the rights.

"Where the Wild Things Are" isn't it.
While more properties would be great I think WTWTA is a wonderful property for the intended audience. I have the first set of the wild things in the box still which is very, very rare for me. The only other complete set I have on card or in package is Tortured Souls 2 and I have a second set of them loose. Gotta love clearance sales. :p
Anyhow my wife, my 2 year old and even my mother-in-law all adore the where the Wild Things Are figures because of the book. McFarlane did a bang up job on the first set and I expect them to handle the movie in the same fashion. When I told them a movie was coming and would most likely feature more McFarlane toys they were actually interested. This tells me that the line has a broader appeal. That could be bad or good. The proof is in the pudding as they say. I certaintly don't remember seeing the first wild things on the clearance racks.
I would concur thou, if you were inferring by your comment that more mature audience lines would be nice and do very well. If Wild Things is the only movie line next year I would say McFarlane needs to step it up big time and something is amiss. Just my two cents. Thanks for contributing to the thread, none the less, Holeman. I can sense your frustration at how things are looking because it seems like we like some of the same stuff and there has been a bit of an absence of it.
To the rest these are all great ideas. Keep them coming and hopefully someone at McFarlane notices!
I would like to see him make figures that do not tip over. Dragons with wings that fit right. Bases larger that a quarter for top heavy stuff....

I like Ickerz1 idea of a Spawn gauntlet. I would wear it every day with a red cape, screaming, "Dammn you, Malebogia!"
I would also like to see some more older figures being revamped, such as Future Spawn, Pilot Spawn, Exo-Skeleton Spawn, and of course Violator. When was the last time we had a Violator? Since series 9? Come on! What's the deal with that? Also, I would like to see Todd get some license on more anime material, such as Gundam series, Hellsing, or Tokyo Majin.

I really don't care about "WTWTA". I never really liked the book and if the things they're saying about the movie are true, I'm sure I won't like that either.
Option some movies that have the potential for MM style figs. That's really all I'm interested in.
And the comic figs. Seriously, TMP should be having the first crack at figs from the Image label. I want a Wesley fig from "Wanted", the comic, not the movie. I want Invincible, I want Brit, I want Walking Dead figs, I want Fathom, I want SCUD, I want the Jesus clone from Loaded Bible, I want a decent Darkness and Witchblade fig, I want Youngblood figs, I want Battle Pope, I want Savage Dragon figs until the wheels come off, I want Frank Frazetta figs, I want TMP to do up the Image catalog the way DC Direct does for DC.
What I don't want is the billionth Spawn fig. Seriously, enough with Spawn for a bit. How many friggin Spawn figs does one person really need? Or maybe they could work in an Image fig somewhere among the billionth, unneeded Spawn fig? That would be great.

I would most like to see a line on Excalibur (the 1981 John Boorman King Arthur movie). I wouldn't mind seeing the following:
Series 1
1)Arthur in his silver armor with removable helmet and Excalibur sword
2)Lancelot in his special silver armor with removable helmet
3)Mordred in his gold armor with removable helmet and spear
4)Merlin
5)Morgana
6)Young Arthur pulling Excalibur out of the stone (box set)
Series 2
1)Perceval in his silver armor
2)Generic black armored knight (a la Mordred's forces) with removable heads and different helmet styles
3)Generic Arthur's knights' silver armor with two interchangable helmet heads (with dragon fins, without. Or variations with permanent head!)
4)Uther
5)Duke of Cornwall
6)Gawain vs Lancelot (box set)

For me to start buying McFarlane toys again, they would have to do a lot. But if they went back to making Movie Maniacs and the Monster sets again i would definitely be back on board, i mean a updated 2008 set of say a figure set like this would be utterly brilliant..
http://img398.imageshack.us/img398/5885/mcff02ja3.jpg
They could re-do the whole of series one and two of the play-sets and i can imagine they would be very popular. Even a brand new line of Movie Maniacs would be great (Thought don't know how hard the licences to the certain films like Friday the 13th would be like to get?)
The way it is now Mcfarlane hasn't got me interested for years now, and the latest news on the Guitar Hero figures is just sad to see. I would say a good 75% of my figure purchases are now from NECA, and i know they aren't the best, but they have the motherlode when it comes to cool licences.

Figures with larger bases that actually act as a base and not a small piece of plastic that eventually warps and falls with the rest of the figure.
A return to either comic based spawn figures or specially designed spawn figure with some actual creativity put into the design(robots; are you kidding me?!?!)
The return of the original clamshell packaging that had been used the past several years.

Hi all. Im new here and just scouring around. This thread doesnt look like its had a post for a while, lol, but i just wana share my ideas of what ive always wanted to see from Mcfarlane toys.
The return of movie manics and various music icons!!
1.Jake The Mus from once were warriors (now thats a movie maniac imo)
2.A decent Scarface (mezo does not appeal to me at all)
3.Stallone from Rambo
4.Schwarzenneger from Commando and Predator.
5.A new Mulder and Scully from X Files (i know the X Files license is dead, but would still like these)
6.Girls Girls Girls (with revolving drum cage) or Dr Feelgood Motley Crue box set.
7.Guns N Roses 80's box Set
8.Dont know what the deal is with NBA licensing but would really like to see MT do a Michael jordan.
9.Again with the licensing, but i think MT would kick ass in the star wars area cause hasbro, well they dont appeal to me as much as they used to. Sideshow toys brings out excellent star wars stuff, but too expensive. would be real cool and affordable to get star wars mcfarlane figures :P
10.Indiana Jones would be cool.(again with licensing i suppose)
11.Bones? booth and brennan (i like that show)
12.How bout some vintage stuff like ol magnum PI, Knight rider, stuff like that, would be something different lol.
13. Married with children? Al Bundy rocks!
Lol!
Battle Chasers figures (Joe Madureira comic)
Underworld Selene figure

Underworld Selene fig? Yes, yes, yes, aaaaaand......YES!!!! :D
Personally, I'd love to see some figs from Fallout 3, specifically:
Super Mutant / Brute / Master
Fawks (the friendly Super Mutant you can rescue from Vault 87)
Deathclaw
Enclave Trooper
Brotherhood of Steel Trooper
The rest? Meh. Just go for the coolest stuff in one ultra-cool series that would make money and be done with it.
