Halo 3 series 2 review!

So I finally have the new series in hand, and I thought I might share my first impressions.

First and foremost, I LOVE the new packaging. The art work and overall appearance is way more appealing than series 1. I almost regret having to ruin the packaging to open the figures (almost).

Secondly, why is the Arbiter gold??? This makes absolutely no sense, and I will have to repaint it as soon as possible.

The overall set looks amazing, and the detail is superb, as you would expect from TMP. The brute stalker looks huge and menacing, and the new spartans are dead-on to their on-line appearances. I have noticed a lot of people complaining about the size of the battle rifles, but from what I can tell they are all the same size, but I have not opened them all yet. It is nice to see that the Spartans now come with the ability to Duel Wield.

The new series is out, GO GET IT!

Someone should start a "how did you paint your Arbiter" thread in about a week so we can all talk about how we covered up the bright gold.

I JUST noticed this. The head on the EVA is larger than the series one EVA head. Anyone else notice this??

Yes. Series 2 has a fatter head for some reason. I'll have to compare them to the game characters to see which is more accurate.

Hope you don't mind if I post a mini-review on my Gamestop ODST, which yes, I will post a haul thread for when I can get some good lighting for a picture.

First off, in a comparison ot the original ODST from this series, it's miles better. I realize that it's just a repaint, but the silver and gold looks great on the ODST. The silver really brings it out into looking better, as the colors where far too dark on the regular ODST.

The gun is a serious pain, as I can't seem to get it in a good holding position, though that's more the fault of the arms. Now I've had some trouble with my Red Spartan series 1's rifle, but this is just plain stupidly annoying. That, and the gun's scope snapped for no reason, I wasn't even pressing on it when pulling the gun in and it snapped. However, it still looks good in his right hand, at least.

The ODST Helmet was done amazingly well, just like the Spartan Helmet and the Eva helmet.

My biggest complaint is the feet joints. Their...messed up. the right one is sideways and can't be moved, the left one is slightly off, and can't be moved. So I can't adjust the feet at all. This makes standing him up a real pain in the ass and hard.

Overall, it's only an extra buck compared to what TRU is selling them for, so I definitely suggest if you have a local Gamestop that's not far away, see if you can find this guy, he's still pretty awesome.

I agree that the Arbiter sculpt is perfect, but the gold is too bright. All it really needs is a bronze wash with a little silver dry brushing to make it look less like a cheap happy meal toy.

My only complaint about this series is the fact that the stand the Drone came with came with a broken peg, so getting him to stand on that is pretty futile now, my first ODST I opened came with a broken hand right of the package so I had to exchange him, oh and the tan Scout didn't come with one of his shoulder pieces so I had to return him too...seriously, this line looks great, but McFarlane should really think about learning what Quality Control is before putting anything else out on shelves. I'm embarrassed for them if after 20 years they still don't seem to know that this has always been a problem with their product and it seems that with time it's gotten worse.

I got the Tan Scout and Master Chief from Amazon today. The Tan Scout has the small Battle Riffle....which I think is stupid. Is this some sort of variation? or do some come with the big BR and others with the small one? I think the small one is too small. He also had some major paint problems and his right leg kept coming out at the hip.

Then the Master Chief's right thigh is screwed up. They put a left thigh where a right thigh should have been. So he has no hole for the grenade.

Now being from Amazon it's gonna be a pain to get exchanges.

Buy a MC from Wal-Mart, then go back and return the busted one with that receipt.

That's terrible. I have yet to get mine, hopefully they're okay. Or I'm going to stop buying Halo figures completely unless McF fixes the crappy quality issues I've been hearing so much about.. and the different size BR's? Pathetic. They're the same size in the game...

But don't let my screw up in "character/color" make my comment look less painful, the quality control problem is very real, and very painful to deal with, and it was the exact reason why I stopped buying McFarlane years ago...sure Halo brought me back, but another heartbreak like this, especially if with an exclusive, and I'm out again.

Well that's actually the funny thing, in the game the weapon's sizes are variable-when on the ground they are actually bigger than normal, and when different characters hold them they scale to different sizes.
