Quick thread, but I want to post my dissatisfaction with finally finding Manga Spawn from series 34, which I very much wanted, only for it to be...just plain crap. My local TRU had a thousand of every other figure, but Manga Spawn, only one, and the pain job was just...hideously bad. Blotches on the side, no consistency in the pattern, the face (If it has a face) had what looked like black spots and it was just...horrible. I was surprise the guy at TRU actually put it on the shelf and didn't send it back or something.
I really want a Manga Spawn, and it seems to be pretty popular. But if this is McFarlane's standard in quality, I think I'll be dropping the Spawn series figures from now on.

I know what you mean. The very first one I saw at TRU was ****ed up so I just bought WOR2 and Pirate Spawn. Luckily the second TRU I went to have a better paint apps.

Mine's not bad... I've seen worse. Just looks like the paint they used was a tad too runny.

You know, it is good to post your dissatisfaction AND show it with pics. That was worse than I was expecting. I saw one in TRU and only noticed how weird the eyes looked (just like in the pics here.) and also noticed how the black on the arms are just black plastic. you would think with the lack of paint apps that they used, that they could get the little bit of paint apps done correct.

I saw it too. The paint was horrible on all four Mangas they had sitting there. I've seen Happy Meal toys with a better standard in quality.

Manga Spawn was the only one not picked up at my TRU. All the others are gone.

Sounds like the general consensus for Manga Spawn is crappy paint job. All of the ones I've seen are really runny as well.

That looks like a knockoff. I remember when Mcfarlane toys were big, bulky, and wonderfully painted. even toys like that orange alien guy with the propellor on his back was awesome.
I guess if its not some ******bag with a basketball, Mcfarlane doesnt care.

I agree with Metal Hellspawn, I like the new Manga Spawn's sculpt but the paint job is, unfortunately, pretty weak. :(

i agree as well! i've seen all of series 34 in the store( except poacher!) and really did'nt care for them for one reason or another. Manga spawn(at least the ones i've seen) look about the same as yours! but Poacher now, i have'nt found a bad one........................yet!

I think the new paint style is a good thing.

I didn't even pick him up, i don't like the way he looks, nothing can beat the manga two pack, now that was awesome.

same thing happened here, I saw one and it looked like a 12 year old drew on him with finger paints. with prices going up, you can be damn sure my pickiness is going to go up as well!!!

I saw my first new Manga Spawn at my local comic shop, I was highly unimpressed. The paint job was terrible and the figure just didn't look that great in after all. Sadly, that was the only figure that I was looking forward to purchasing.

All the ones I've seen have pretty crappy paint apps.
Pirate Spawn's is not much better.
WOR looks OK though.
Haven't seen any Poachers.

The ones I saw (just from looking, I didn't want the figure...I got my Poacher) didn't look so hot either. Course there's alot more unpainted plastic these days too.

WOR2 is not that bad. I've bought 3 and the two I've opened are pretty good. I even figured out how to get the original base to work. The "Sweet Spot" is 1 o' clock. If the base is at 1 o' clock or a 60 degree angle the figure should stand perfectly ever time.

You mean Rotarr from Spawn series 8, the first McFarlane figure that could flip the bird, that was a nice figure. I always wanted to see him show up in the Spawn Comic for some reason.

DUDE NEAT!!!!!!!!!!!
Thanks Masked Moron for these detailed Manga Spawn 2 pics. I still need to buy a second Manga Spawn 2 to display. I should've had one by now, but I'm too involved with completing my Fin Fang Foom BAF.
