The wife and I just popped into a Swarovski store today and actually spent time looking at everything .. some pretty nice and cute figures there .. the sales lady was explaining all about them and that some get "retired" and special collection ones etc etc .. kinda interesting and the wife was really getting into it.

Anyone have any experience with this stuff? Is there really a secondary market as well to them?

... crap these suckers are expensive and then I would have to buy some nice display case for the light ot hit it right - not like a Sportspick where they look good anywhere I put it!!! doh......

Be careful! My wife has a small, but expensive collection. Like any line of goods that has limited editions, retired figures, etc, it can get addicting.

There is a secondary market, but the appreciation of value (in my opinion) isn't very great. There is always a buyer for Swarovski, but you should only expect to get retail price back if you are the seller.

Check eBay for the pieces you looked at today to get a good feel of the secondary market.

I bought a couple for Mom, Fiance, Grandmothers etc....

They're pretty cool and yes, expensive. Make sure you get legit ones, I know there are plenty of fakes. ;)

Dude, you just used the word "cute" to genuinely describe something on a sports message board. Grow a pair.

I once spent $300 on a miniature bear for a Xmas gift for my Mom one year.

My mom has dozens and dozens of these things. She's been collecting them for many years.

My parents have a huge collection of those things. They started about 15 years ago when my father was stationed in Europe. They also have those little German kids Hummels as well. Creepy little things.

Those things are to them what SPs are to me. But at least mine have points of articulation.

yeah that's one of the ones we want to get! well .. actually apparently this is the 1996 version, now there's a different one similar to that but the eyes are not red and the ball is a little further away and its some shiny gold thing .. it's $380!!

my wife also wants the Panda ones - it's an exclusive for this year, but it would represent this year which is when we got married, as well as the place I proposed (the panda's at the zoo, which is her fav place). .. and those pair of pandas are $450!

That's two Amonte's I could have for myself instead! doh! Gotta talk her out of these things .... heh
