OKC NBA Team reportedly nicknamed "Thunder"

I guess its kind of cool. When I lived in Tallahassee we had a Arena2 team called the Thunder. The logo was a big stormclud with a lightning bolt coming out of it.

With the NBA's recent image problems, there's no way in hell they'd okay a team named the "Outlaws".

Thunder, gives me the same thought as when they were proposing it for the new Iowa AHL team. It is very uninspired. And can someone tell me how to turn thunder into a decent logo? The storm cloud/lightning combo has been done to death.

As of right now there is no name. The name is pretty much speculation because a webstie was purchased reported by on radio guy in OKC.

I don't think Thunder is all that bad, I actually submitted that name when the Raptors had their naming contest(and the frickin RAPTORS won, terrible). For OKC I would actually like the name Storm.

Terrible nickname aside, OKC actually has over 16,000 people signed up for season tickets already. It should be interesting to see if that dips over the next few years if the team continues to suck.

i'm still not sure what the deal with the polar bear is - except that maybe anytime you say "i'm bringing the thunder" in a fight and then you set loose a bear on your opponent, then you did in fact bring the thunder. i just don't think that sprung to mind when they did the logo.
