I heard these complaints about how bad they are before they were even released. Well ... I picked up Montana and Long today and I must say ... there is nothing wrong with the new packaging. I saw no damaged cards ... corners can't be bent (they're curved) the plastic bubble stayed the same and NOT one damaged like the two previous series I got in the OLD packaging ... so what is everyone complaining about?
I can see the j hook getting damaged but that's the clerks fault hanging them or if they sit on the pegs for awhile.
I asked someone who dosen't know anything about SPs which package they liked ... they picked the new package too.

Bro, don´t worry there will always be people complaining about changes...And also no matter how much those people complain, they will also buy all the Sportspick´s not minding the changes...

I will tell you what is WRONG with the packaging. First, they do not line up with the second package TMP produce - they are simply UGLY! Secondly, it is hard to display them unopen with other SPs in the older package. The older packaging truly looks like collectables, these however, loooks like toys!!!

It's not as bad as it's made out to be. Seeing it in person it does look better than pics on the boards. That said I would still rather have the clamshells.

I saw them in person the last 2 days and I really like them. I saw a full case today and the only opener was the Riggins tweak. My Montana was minty fresh. I do not mind the new packaging at all.

whats wrong is the graphics on them are pathetic, did they take more than 10 minutes to design. the packaging is way to big, takes up so much display room. lastly your very luck to find mint figures because all the ones ive seen are severly dented on the back of the card. they look mint when you look at them face up, but turn them over and there a horrible mess. theres a reason several companies copied mcfarlanes old packaging, thats because it was good.

You're all missing the point. The packaging is just a container to protect the figure inside. Free the fumes already...

if the carboard was cut short like the recent clamshells and only was like an inch above the back of the pacakge it wouldn't be that bad.

my only complaint about the new packaging now........it's too big, thus will take up too much room in my trash, thus leading to me having to use more trashbags.......

and that's never any fun for anyone!:)

People just like to complain about TMP, how poorly TMP does things and how if they ran the company they could do a much better job than TMP.

I like the new package. I like the simple layout, it brings out the figures more. The Joe Montana is very nice displayed in the package.

That picture really show how much better the Montana looks with the hands attached. It also shows that the packaging design really isn't all that more "basic" than some of the designs of the past.

Having finally seen the new packaging, as a MOMC collector, it SUCKS...Out of a 12 ct case (empty on the floor), 1 maybe 2 of the 10 figures left on the pegs were MOMC. The rest had noticable creases, hangtag problems and a couple had tears in them already. I just hope that for the sake of TMP, that the pennies saved in packaging will offset the millions lost in sales.

I love the new packaging! It's so much easier to open and extract the figure.

I think they look great in pictures here on the boards. I only hope my TRU is able to move the Baseball Peg warmers (all Yankees, Sox and Hank Aaron's) so I can actually see these in person.

THe Favre/Montana comparison is nice, but that's two figures in the last 8 years. This may come in handy with the NBA figures (as Mark has stated they aren't doing 'assembly required' figures anymore), but for NFL, there is just a lot of wasted space.

1. Too big
2. cheap looking
3. bends easier
4. inconsistant with other packaging

Joe Montana isn't really a fair example. Of the 25+ NFL figures coming out this year he's the only player I know that actually uses that type of packaging. And for him and him alone it's great packaging. For everyone else being made this year it's absolutely terrible.

I won't deny that the Joe Montana in package actually looks pretty awesome. Unfortunately he's the only one who actually takes advantage of the larger standing bubble. Everyone else gets that crippling gigantic cardboard tab at the top.

So 1 nice looking figure and 25+ other terrible ones. Seeing the figures in person the packaging actually doesn't even look that bad, the brown is actually ok. But that tab, that damn giant tab will never look good.
