you knew thorpe would be #1. since there are so few who have done that and even fewer who have done it in the 4 majors it's not the impressive list it could be.
also bo and deion were nowhere near the baseball players that they were fotball players.

I agree mostly but if you took someone off that list who would you add It pretty well covers the better ones

Tom Glavine was supposedly a pretty good hockey player. Hell he was drafted in 1984 before Luc Robitaille and Brett Hull.

Also, for the weird people out there that count the CFL and NFL as different sports (if there is such a person out there), I nominate Warren Moon.

I'm so sick of sports writers sucking up to these old, old, old school players. Jim Thorpe, c'mon already!
Jackie Robinson is fine by me because he'd still be a relevant athlete today.
I bet you Lawrence Tynes could out kick and out tackle Mr. Thorpe.

Wasn't Dave Winfield drafted in MLB, NBA and NFL? Not too shabby.

What About John Elway who was drafted by the Yankees but chose to go down the path of pro football and his career with the Broncos speaks for itself.

yeah and tynes would be able to do exactly what with baseball equipment:confused:
and if we are talking about could have beens, jeff samardjzia is looking pretty impressive with the cubs and he could have been a top 5 pick in the nfl draft.
and even though mark hendrickson sucks he did play for 4 nba teams and has been in the majors for a couple years now.

Zero credibility on that article, Bo Jackson at 3 and Deion at 6, blasphemy.

That was my first thought, the guy was drafted by three professional leagues and he doesn't even make the list?

Michael Jordan
He played Basketball and baseball!!!
But I guess track is a professional league!

I'm sorry, but how in the hell does Deion fall at 6 between Shaun White and Babe Didrikson!?!? And Charlie Ward? ***? Donovan McNabb should be on there before him.

Yeah, Jordan "played" baseball but he was pretty bad.. and it was mostly a stunt.

Now considering the guys who were left off that list, I would have to atleast say that Shaun White should not have made that list. He's an incredible extreme sports athlete but snowboarding and skateboarding (and yes I've done both) are too similar when a guy like Dave Winfield isn't making the article.

Snowboarding and skateboarding are two different beasts. It's like saying if you can swing a baseball bat you'll be good at golf, when actually doing one well can cause damage at the other.
I tend to discount the track/anything 2-sporter. If you can run fast and coordinated you can often do both fairly easy.
I'm surprised Danny Ainge and Winfield (legendary college athlete) aren't on the list.

no look up mel kiper stuff from the draft last year. he was surefire top 5.

Uh yea...It's Mel Kiper. :p There is no way he was top 5. The only reciever that was gonna go top 5 was Calvin Johnson.

interesting
I still think it is impressive what deion and bo did
making 2 of the most elite leagues in sports
and in modern times which is rare
as players are forced to make a choice early

What about Julius Peppers? NC basketball is as good as some pro teams, and he's a pro bowler in the NFL.

I was going to say that.
I guess you could also go Deion, Bo Jackson, to name a couple off the top of my head.
Bo Jackson could have been one of the greatest running backs we have ever seen, had he not injured his hip.

He played basketball for 2 years and wasn't that great.
The surprising thing about Jackie Robinson is that he only batted .097 in college and decided baseball would be his career.

I'm surprised Jordan isn't on there just because of the "suck up" factor of the media.
I guess Babe's parents had the foresight to know what she'd look like in later years and decided to name her that so she'd be called Babe by dude's thus inspiring her. Otherwise, she would have been a homely librarian with 20 cats. ;)

Bo was pretty close to being great in both sports. Bo was 100 times the baseball player Deion was.
How about Bob Gibson? Hall of Famer for the Cardinals and played with the Globetrotters. Not bad if you ask me.

maybe not top 5 but definite 1st rounder.
