Just picked up the two Fuhr's and an Esposito... and I gotta say, this series was like a reality slap in the face
they look like toys
I know they're toys, i know they've always been toys, but the great thing about these were that they didn't look like toys, they looked impressive, the detail was great and the paintjobs were solid
but this series?
I just bought a bunch of toys

please, let me pay $16.99 for goalies, with good paintjobs, and nets
this $10 BS just isn't cutting it

If it's gonna be a toy at least make it a good toy. When i played with action figures when I was younger, only 10 years ago ha, I wouldn't have liked these at all, no articulation, woulda rather bought gracelyn replays. McFarlane is now on the line between toys and collectible, with the balance tipping to toy, considering the packaging and the lack of paint

How much more does TMP need to hear?? This is becoming a daily occurance.

I got the set today, and if anything, the likenesses have gone down hill. Wasnt there a video somewhere of TMP doing facial scans of the athletes. What happened to that?

TMP, listen to this guy, as he's one of the biggest Fuhr fans I know. if he says 2 Fuhr figs look like crap, then they MUST look like crap.

At first i was quick to say people on here just like to complain over something that is simply toys and that the cardboard backing wasn't that bad. Well i got a case of the new Nfl Legends and i couldn't of been more pissed. Almost every single figure was damaged including the one variant. Now i know some of you on here forwn about making money off figures on ebay and calling people scalpers ect. Being one that does sell figures and buys them from Mcfarlne through my local sports card delaer you in the end make very little profit off these and you're variant is usally the only high point. I basically have thrown away my money with the new figures and have to jump on board with all the collectors on here that express their concern.

TRUTH!

fact is i bought these out of obligation, not because i'm a collector, i could have passed on all three if i didn't like the individuals, and this is coming from a guy who bought Hasek and can't stand him, but still bought because of the detail on the figure

Quality is slipping, and bad, not going to be selling any joe shmoes or canadian exclusives of nobodys if you're going to be cutting back on what sells this product more than the names on the front and back of the jerseys(detail and quality)

I saw the Smyth and Kovelev today, the first of the series I have seen at all. I thought exactly what is being said here, that the scuplts are "meh" at best but the paint jobs, especially on the faces, is God Friggin Aweful. At least for the 2 I saw today, which I have seen no other ones and only one of each of these, I couldn't believe how fugly these 2 were. They have a porcelin doll type look to them. Brutal.

That said, I have yet to see any heavy damage to the cardboard backers. IMO finding MOMC is only slightly harder, at least so far as to what I have seen. Also, the comment of the face scults seem worst on NHL figures.

i saw many many many MANY figures at TRU and the packages were actualy fine, didnt see too many damaged, just one card had the top bending forward but i didnt look too hard either because i don't really mind the packaging, usualy open

As Snoop Dogg would say... Chuuuuuuch! ;)
You're preaching to the choir.

If only the shepherd (Todd) would listen to the flock (unhappy boardies)
then maybe he could give us a lil divine intervention and
make the detail of figs
and
the quality/cool factor of chases back to the level of 2006. (Creamsicle Brooks, Saints Brees, Red Leinart):mad::mad:

I was going to pick up a set last night at TRU but the Esposito was the worst paint job I ever saw and I didn't get any after seeing the horrible paint job. Keep saving me money TMP!

TMP...the number of negative threads + collectors ARE growing
Negative Issues:
the new packaging (size, design, materials)
figure size (scaling with previous releases)
figure paint quality / lack of paint
the substituted designs when the license is not acquired (ie: Grant Fuhr)
the new chase figures

addiction math

good product
you bought them when they were good

lesser product
you bought them cuz that's what you do

bad product
you're addicted, you can't stop. The figures are being purchased, therefore why pay more to increase quality

Speak with your wallet as well as your threads. I'm a little tired of the threads saying, I bought this and it sucked. Look at it before you buy. Once you purchase it, you lose most of your right to say THIS SUCKS. Constructive posts commenting on paint vs color plastic and package style etc is one thing, but don't buy a figure that clearly has a bad paint app and then say how unhappy you are that you bought a figure that had a bad paint job. Do like jjackso1 did. Leave it in the store and come here and say The paint sucked, so I left it. That's what I did with the Ted Williams and black Trevor Linden retro figure.. Two figs I was very excited about, dozens looked at, not a good one in the bunch, never bought em..

Good advice but what about the people that live in remote places where there are no stores that they can go check these out at and they are at the mercy of ordering the product from a web site??

Good advice but what about the people that live in remote places where there are no stores that they can go check these out at and they are at the mercy of ordering the product from a web site??For the most part, and sadly so, SPs are not sellout products anymore. I am not sure they ever were, but there was a time where pre-ordering them made sense. Then TMP flooded the market and you could just wait and pick them up on extreme clearance, even on-line.

Now, they are a bit in the middle. Some goalies and players with buzz like Adrian Peterson will sell quickly locally and even pre-sellout on-line. But that is more the exception than the norm. You are always taking a chance on paint apps when you order on-line, but I'd suggest for the Kovalevs and Mikitas of the SP world, wait to see what kind of feedback they get here before ordering. Odds are they will still be readily available somewhere on-line after one gets through reading the large amount of feedback posted here.

you guys are never happy , are you??

i think that's part of the problem. we've cried wolf so many times that TMP just isn't listening. Mark has said it himself, the boards are very negative. i don't mean to lessen how big this change is, or how much it sucks...but that has to be part of it

So you bought them, and then you complained?

I dont see the logic.

allow me to point out where i later on wrote that i bought them out of obligation, of being a Fuhr fan, i bought the SLU despite the crap look, and i bought these for just the name too

sad thing is, I'll probably be buying two more, just to use the spare parts to make a better one

Thats good advice but don't you think for people buying cases you would think that most of them should be in mint condition. I mean its outrageous when 10 out of the 12 figures you receive are damaged.

TMP doesn't care about the collectors anymore, they are putting all their attention to the casual consumer
