You know, Mighty Muggs? ;) you think these guys are going to be worth something later on down the line or just a phase? i dunno, seems like these guys are doing very well, i hope they continue to last but yesh, give us collectors a break on the wallets!

I think they have some staying power. The only line I see dying out soon, would be the Indiana Jones Muggs. The Star Wars, Joe's, Transformers and Marvel Muggs, will keep collectors happy for awhile. As far as them being worth anything. Well I am sure Venom will shoot up in price, as will the SDCC exclusives. But who knows, these are just my speculations. Oh and yeah, I have spent about over $300 on Muggs this past month alone.

Alot of the stuff is sitting on my 'pile of loot' at BBTS. But here is a quick breakdown.

Star Wars series 1,2,3 and 4
Indiana Jones series 1 and 2
Marvel series 1,2 and 3
SDCC Iron Man X2
SDCC Commander Gree
SDCC Peter Parker
SDCC Fertility idol

Plus I bought duplicates of several figures.

Pretty much! Since it's a fairly new line, I am trying to be a completist for once. I think the only Muggs I don't have on pre-order, are the blank one's Hasbro has on their site.

I really don't think these will be worth anything, minus a couple, by this time next year. They're putting out far too many already and people will get burnt out and stop caring

Muggs = beanie babies = five years from now...worthless pieces of poo.

Yeah, I haven't bought mine as an investment, just as a neat side thing.

Really though, collecting as an investment is always a bad idea.

I have to admit, that's a great comparison. I could see that happening. The only difference: I'm buying into these Muggs whereas I didn't with those beanies.

I'm not buying all of them though like Salvatore ;), but I've picked up a few: seven to be exact, nine to account for duplicates: Wolverine, Venom, Vader(x3), Maul, Movie Iron Man, Black Spidey, and Ghost Rider.

I love these little muggers. I'm sticking with only marvel ones but I must admit some of the Star Wars ones were looking tempting. I started collecting them because I was into urban/designer vinyl before I started collecting mcfarlane and such.

I'm not interested enough in these buggers (or muggers to be exact :D *stupid joke*) to invest in entire sets. But I knew I had to at least get Darth Vader. And maybe get Ghost Rider.

I honestly think the Muggs have more staying power than beanies did. Now correct me if I am wrong, since I don't know squat about beanies. But Muggs have very popular licensed properties, such as Marvel, Star Wars, GI Joe, Transformers, etc.... So I kind of see the Muggs appealing to a much wider range of collectors than the beanies did. What I like about the Muggs is, there is a little something for everyone.;)

To me the Muggs are a ploy. It's all the same figure over and over and they just slap on different paint. It's a boon for the manufacturer of course. I mean if you like them, you like them, that's the whole point of collecting. I actually bought a couple and got them home and realized that I really just did not like them. They'll probably stick around for quite a while simply because they are so easy to produce. Every imaginable variation will hit stores eventually. I personally can't wait for the Welcome Back Kotter series, and the WKRP exclusives.

all of the above...

plus, they are re-releasing them or restocking older waves which has been plummeting prices...Stormtrooper was hitting about 40 a month ago on ebay then POOF!...they hit the stores again like it was the Tantive IV!...now if you can't get them in the store you can hit ebay they are at cost again...

make the wave then move on.

i have about 20 i am about to get rid of, i just don't want them anymore...i like them, but i don't want them...ya know?

I'm definitely not collecting them for the investment as for the first time in awhile, I've found a line that I really enjoy searching for.

The price point is great (10 bucks) and the packaging is awesome (for the momc) collectors. The characters are so popular and the possibilites for future lines are endless.

If you want to compare them to beanie babies then that would actually be a positive for investors. Beanie babies were astronomical on the secondary market and it lasted for several years. We all know what eventually happened, but there was an obvious strong market for those that wanted to turn them for profit and plenty of time to do it. I would be pleasantly surprised if muggs matched the beanie baby frenzy.

If Hasbro wants to create a secondary market, they would have to stop re-releasing their lines (like a previous poster mentioned). They have created a line that is appealling to both genders and almost every age group. There is definitely potential.

Agreed ludeboy, the only people who were buying beanie babies were the girls (especially my mother, we still have a a crap load of them)

Mighty muggs on the other hand, go for all ages, sex's, different lines that are in good taste, Hasbro knows what they are going.

Perfect example (sorry, it's pony related again lol) here is a pony that came out last year, was a mail order pony, nothing special looking right? do you realize this pony is worth $300-$400 and i've seen people pay for it. IT CAME OUT LAST YEAR FOR CRYING OUT LOUD.
http://www.ponytopia.com/2005-5/05_pics/rosey-posey.jpg

I can see the black suited spider man going for at least $80 by next year.

Totally off topic but i just thought of something, is star wars unleashed figures still around???

They should rename this forum to Mighty Muggs and Halo, or just make a separate section for them.

Thats not true. Ghost Rider has a different head than the rest. At least until Human Torch comes out. Oh yeah and Yoda is smaller....Take that! :p;)

What if they made a mighty mugg Master chief? That may nearly ruin Halo for me
