Thanks for coming in All. I need some input as to see where most of you stand on this subject and why if you don't mind dropping a couple keystrokes in.......and boosting your post count..............like Billy needs an excuse right? :p

Do you only get auto's on authentic gear or is a replica okay? Personally, a replica is totally fine for me, it's the autograph that matters. What do you all think? Pics of collections would be cool too.

Well, depends on what you are doing with them. For display purposes no problem with replicas as long as they are good quality. For value or invenstment I'd say they need to be authentic. ;)

I think it depends alot on the person signing. I have no problem with my only Sinorice Moss being on a replica, but if I was to ever get a shot at someone like Marino I would try to make sure it was an authentic.

good topic

I think it depends on who is signing it also, if it is going to be someone that you have to pay an arm and a leg for I feel you should just go all the way and get something authentic

It's your item, do what you feel not what others think.

I agree with this. I don't mind having a Brandon Jacobs on a rep mini but I had to get Adrian Peterson on an authentic jersey.

I also think it depends on the athlete. However if your not going to purchase an authentic helmet then id just go with mini-helmets cuz i think the replica looks ridiculous. As for jerseys i like to at least get the premier EQT jerseys. And i always try to get official NFL game balls for auto's (but i also work at a sporting goods store so i get em at a discount).

Haha, Thanks for giving me another reason to post. :p

But to answer your question. As long as the auto is real, that's all that matter's to me.

Definitely depends on the player for me man! If it's an absolute centerpiece of my collection, authentic is the way to go, but anything short of that I would have to go cheaper. :D

To me it depends on how the player signs, as well. I would hate to get a crappy signature on an expensive jersey and not want to display it. I have a buddy I grew up with who gave an autograph back and asked that the player take his time signing it next time because he gave him a crappy sig.

Also, I saw someone's Dwyane Wade autograph that looked totally different from ones I've seen authenticated because he has a different autograph for freebies. That's why I always liked the way Cal Ripken, Jr. signed everything the same way. Carefully and neatly.

BINGO!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Definitely at least spend the extra $25 for a quality replica like EQT....
Looks just as nice under glass.
