Man, 2 active roster players and a probably pretty low 1st rounder.

Seems like a lot to me.

I think this is the Bolts first move to work to get under the cap.

Oh definitely, but really .... you take 2 active roster D-men who get paid 6 figures (Picard and Kuba) + a 1st round pick and trade them for a multi million dollar D-man?

Doesn't make sense to me.

Especially all the lip service the Tampa media/Bolts media did for Picard.

Nothing should surprise you about Tampa Bay anymore, they are fast becoming new New York Rangers.

Ever wanna laugh and groan at the same time? That's how I felt when I read that.

Technically, wasn't their first move to get under the cap dealing Richards?

I guess you could go that route, but the summer they had cancelled that trade out essentially.

Yeah, that's true. I had forgotten how much money they threw out this offseason, especially for Ryan Malone

I honestly feel that the free spending the new Bolts management did this summer was more of a "HEY!!! Look at us!" stunt than making the team better.

Did they get better? Sure ... well, we'll see anyway.

But still the splashes they made and the ridiculous overspending they did just reeks of attention seeking too.

I don't think it really makes a difference because they still haven't signed Meszaros to a new contract and as soon as they do, they'll be $4-5 million over the cap.

Rumour is they have an agreement on a 6 year, $4 mil per deal.
