Here we go Gents, sorry 'bout that......save a click:
New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady is expected to miss the rest of the 2008 season with a torn anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee, according to a source familiar with the injury.
While New England coach Bill Belichick said in his postgame press conference that he had no update on the status of Brady’s injury, two sources indicated it involved serious damage to the knee.
“It’s bad,” a team source said. “We’re going to have to play without him.”
Brady was hurt as he stepped up in the pocket to make a throw to wideout Randy Moss. Chiefs safety Bernard Pollard, who was on the ground, lunged forward and struck Brady’s leg, which buckled as he released the ball.
Brady was helped off the field and was later led down a staircase by team officials, presumably to undergo tests.
Fourth-year quarterback Matt Cassel, who had thrown just 39 passes in his career before Sunday, replaced Brady and completed 13 of 18 passes for 152 yards and a touchdown. Cassel, who backed up Carson Palmer and Matt Leinart at USC, hasn’t been a starting quarterback since high school. He won a competition with Matt Gutierrez during the preseason to retain the job as Brady’s primary backup.

As a Raiders fan I have no love for the Pats or "Tuck-Boy," but I do hate to see the guy go out hurt. He brings a lot to the league and brings the level of competitiveness from opposing teams up a notch. Having said that, the kid that sub'd had a pretty decent game. Didn't this sort of thing happen with Bledsoe?

I would never wish injury on any player, even someone on a team I dislike as much as the Pats, but if this is true, I think it will make the season more interesting overall.

Very solid. San Diego will be no slouch team. I think the Panthers are that good this year. Of course, everybody overlooks the Colts, but the Steelers are going to go far.

Karma is lying about injuries every week and then getting injured on the week you 'miraculously' return from a fake injury.
Sucks for the guy, the league and the Pats to get hurt. You hate to see someone lose a whole year of their career.

I agree. I wasn't necessarily comparing Delhomme to Brady. I just know what it's like to lose your only QB early in the season. I don't feel sorry for the jerks. But I won't celebrate it either. But I understand why some people would.

Now Brady will know how Bledsoe felt...
A former fourth-stringer who was the 199th overall selection in the 2000 draft, Brady himself took over at quarterback when longtime starter Drew Bledsoe sustained a life-threatening chest injury in a 2001 game against the New York Jets. Brady led the Patriots to their first NFL title that year, another in 2003 and another in 2004.
Damn. I hate to see that. Patriots are done. Looks like the Jets might win the division after all.
The Patriots have, by far, the easiest schedule in the league this year. They will be fine without Brady until the playoffs. That team has a ton of talent and given the schedule they will still finish 10-6 or 11-5 with Cassell (spelling)...he looked fine today.....didnt make mistakes and didnt try and do too much....whether or not that will be good enuf come playoff time is another story.

I'd never wish an injury on anyone (either), but Chris Collingsworth, not my favorite person, summed it up correctly when he said (paraphrased) that as a football fan, the Brady injury sucks... unless you are in the AFC East. I feel bad for Brady, but I feel like my Bills actually have chance in the division this season.

This is stupid.
Beating the Pats with Brady at 100% to go to SBXLI was the greatest sports memory thus far in my life and it wouldn't have been the same beating Matt Cassel. Anyone who gets pumped about another teams injuries is a jackazz and not a real NFL fan.
Peyton Manning looks like a middle of the pack QB right now due to rust from an injury and Dallas Clark is out for the game. Injuries suck, period...

In one of the money leagues I'm involved I took him in mid 2nd round (standard yahoo), I wasn't going to pick up a QB so early but Brady was too much to pass. Injuries are part of the game, it is what is and you have to move on. Heck, even with Brady's minimal cooperation (3 points), my FF team managed to win the game.

OK, I'll stoke the fires -- why is there so much hate for Tom Brady specifically?
Why would you wish a season-ending injury on any athlete? I don't get it, but I really don't get why so many people loathe Brady?
Is it jealousy about his model girlfriend?
Is it jealousy over his record?
Do you really hate Brady himself or do you hate him as a personifcation of the Patriots success?
Or, since you can't effectively knock a coach out of the game due to an injury, do you hate him as a personifcation of Belicheck?
Or even best of all, do you hate him due to the way the media fawns over him and the Patriots?
For the record, I root for the Eagles and Chargers, so in theory, I have a vested interest in the Patriots not being as strong as possible. That said, I respect Brady's football and leadership abilities and the fact that he is a winner. He seems to be a good role model to kids playing ball, for I have never seen his name in the police blotter, nor are there many eyewitness accounts of Tom "making it rain" at gentleman's clubs around the nation, nor even any soundbytes where he even remotely resembles a TO or Chad Johnson-esque self-centered rant. From what I can ascertain from the media coverage I have seen of him over the years, he seems to be a fairly mellow California-born guy that competes hard and just wants his team to win. That's fair enough. I can think of dozens of more offensive players than he.
As a hardcore hockey fan and Red Wings fan in particular, I would never wish a season-ending injury on Joe Sakic of the Avalanche. As someone pointed out above, I take more satisfaction when the Red Wings beat the Avs with their full lineup, as it makes it that much more earned.
Is it him or the fact that he seems so "perfect" in terms of being rich, successful and having a smokin' hot model girlfriend?
Just curious and not sweatin' Brady by any stretch because I would like either the Birds or the Bolts to win the Super Bowl. Flame away...

Im not just saying this cuz I am a die hard Pats Fan or a die hard Brady Fan, but this is truly a shame. Not only is he the best QB in the NFL IMO and 1 of the greatest QBs ever, he truly is a good guy and he is what's right about the NFL.
This is obviously a huge loss for the Pats and probably one they won't be able to overcome. This is also a HUGE loss for the NFL, however. Whenever a league MVP goes down in the 1st game of a season, it is bad for the league. Especially when it's a player og this caliber.
I thought the SB loss was bad, that was nothing compared to this. Pats will be lucky to win 9 games.

First off I'll preface this by saying I'm a Pats fan, anyone who thinks ANYONE deserves to be injured is a jerk plain and simple. Sure i root against the Colts, Chargers and other upper echelon teams In the AFC but I don't celebrate if anyone get's injured. Brady Is Football's version of Jeter most dislike the 2 because they have had huge success on and off the field and are both fawned over by the media. I digress though it going to be a rough ride the rest of the season unless there's something about white Cassel Belichick knows and we Pats fans don't.
