I see dual magnums, carbines, elite armor(no Ascetic yet though), in scale hunters, in-scale mongoose(meaning big possibility for a ghost and warthog at least) the Red and Blue team box sets i JUST talked about 2 days ago, equipment, AND marines(finally) only problem is see is no grunts.... and no Mark V... Why no mark V? is there no love! But in scale hunters are confirmed for February so that gives me time to save up for them... hehehe

Lack of the Mark V armour variant aside, I am EXTREMELY happy with this announcement.
28 points of articulation on the hunter?! :| Thats effing crazy.

The mongoose sounds sick, and I'm really pleased to see that marines and Johnson are being made :D

I'm a bit worried about the five or six per wave though. That sounds like a possibility for lots of exclusives. Please be gentle on the exclusives... Not sure about the "Medal" wave though. Just seems silly. I'd rather have more weapons and equipment. The helmets for the 12-inchers sounds okay.
I'm totally psyched about the Mongoose and Hunter! SWEET!

If McF leaves all the waves like they are listed now (4-5 per wave), then people need to realize this is actually not too much more than we're getting now. Hell, series 3 has what, 20 figures in it? As long as they don't add exclusives to the existing waves, this will make collecting them all the much easier.

Damnit, I need me those Equipment bits. Gonna have to do some trading on here so I don't have to buy all the multiplayer figures...

but honestly, this is a kick-butt lineup. It's like you guys actually listened to everything we requested and then tripled it. Would have liked the Assault Elite to be purple, to match the campaign character, but hey, that's what paint is for right? Also I like the "medal" idea, even though I'm not personally into it, and the Helmets idea is also a good one.

But seriously, wow. You guys have outdone yourselves. Looks like it's time to find a second job.


Also Joe, I have a question-the list includes an Active Camo Brute Stalker with an AR-other than the weapons and equipment, I assume this figure is identical to the one purported to be coming out in Series 3, correct? I was planning on getting that one, but this one comes with some equipment so it looks like I need to change my priorities.

The Hunter figure spunds nice. We need a Legendary Hunter figure in scale with the other Legendary figures. That'd be a 11 - 12" ´statue. So that's very well posible.

Pleasant imagery.

I don't have any numbers to compare this with, but from just eyeballing the spartan/atv comparison I'm guessing the vehicle's going to be something like 6 or 7" long, maybe 3 or 4" high. Pretty good size, packaged with a Spartan it'll probably retail for at least 20, although I kind of wish we could get it cheaper without the figure.

I also wonder if it's going to be in a Campaign box or a Multiplayer Set-if multiplayer, it'd be awesome if it included some kind of accessory like a flag or bomb.

I'm thinking the Hunter is same size the FFF series Hulk figures...or ML movie Hulk, and they both ran $15 at WM and Target. So we can assume $15 retail, $20 specialty shops, and they prolly won't be exclusives, but they might not ship with a regular box set around that time, so some places prolly won't get them. I'm thinking not only will he be rather hard to get, but he'll also be one of the more sought after. And I want 4 of those ****ers...

I'll jump in BTW. Going broke. Gotta buy em all. Might even nab 2 MCs for the Rocket, unless a later series exclusive will sport one like the Sniper and the Spartan Laser are. MC has both of those, as do 2 other series 3 figures having 1 of each. He won't be the only one lugging that around ;).

6. Concerning the Heroes Collection, I know and understand if I can't get a yes but is there a strong possibilty of a Scarab in this line, because for me and I am sure others this is the linchpin to whether I buy any or all Heroes Collection figures..,.please some answer....

I second all of Optronix's questions, but I also want to know if the production values of these figures is going to revert back to Series 1 quality or stay at Series 2 quality.

A lot of great product could be coming out, but will it be durable?

The last figure they made that was about this big (remeber, it isn't just height we're talking about here, but overall MASS - the Hunter is going to be a beefy figure) was the Fossil Clan dragon. It had its own window box.

And from what I've heard from people who talked to the folks at the McFarlane booths at SDCC, they were probably going to window box it and price it around $20-$25. I'm not just tossing this out there based on my own opinion, I'm going off of what I've heard from some very reliable sources.

News is all great,

1. Is the Red EOD, and Brute Stalker typos? Why do we need rereleases of those two.

Not a typo. In the case of the Brute Stalker, we wanted to make the figure available to all retailers due to the fact that it's initial release this winter will be limited to Wal-Mart and TRU.

The red EOD is just a case of testing the waters in terms of figure availability. As most of you know these lines have been selling fairly quickly, and we wanted to kind of test out the demand for a given figure by "keeping" on the shelf for a little longer.

2. Does the bubble shield actually come with a bubble shield or is it just the generator.

The equipment accessories will be the generators, so in the case of the bubble shield you will get the equipment, not the actual dome.

3. What color will the Mark VI with the mongoose be?

It won't be turquoise.

4. What about chest and shoulder pads for 12 inch figures.

The helmets are meant to be collectible pieces (each with its own display base) with a secondary function as accessories for your 12-inch figures.

5. Line now says Halo not Halo 3, does this mean characters from older games, i.e. Tarturus, Mercy, Regret, and Captain Keyes.

I would say to take a hint from our 5-inch line. We are starting with a focus on the figures with the intention of expanding out from their if the program is as successful as we think it will be. Whether or not that means we'll be offering up a Scarab... we'll see. It would be cool though.

No.

Again, the main focus of the helmets is collect-ability. You don't need to have the 12-inch figure to have a sweet HALO helmets display, but if you do, you can always mix/match the helmets.

10. Are we done with various store exclusives, will those colors just be in the normal line or will we see on and off exclusives, Walmart one wave, Gamestop another.

We are not done with the exclusives, but we will be cutting back on them next year.

On a related note: Just because a certain armor/color combo was exclusive to a retailer in a particular series doesn't mean that same combo won't be made available as part of a normal assortment somewhere down the road.

11. Last one, does this mean we will see more walmarts carrying Halo, and maybe other stores.

That's the plan, but it may take some time to get there. We're doing our best to help them see the popularity of the HALO brand, and I think they are really starting to take notice.

You can expect pictures, but I wouldn't hold my breath just yet.

4. Are Guilty Spark 343 and/or Sentinels something we could ever see in the line, or is the cost of tooling just too much for figures that don't have very much repaint potential? Even non-articulated pack-ins would be better than nothing, as these robots are pretty important parts of the Halo mythos. (Although as Star Wars is proving this year, a build-a-robot can sell every figure in a wave. *cough*)

You have to assume those are all different colors. Those are all the names of colors you can choose when designing your character on H3.

Ok answers are very helpful,
concerning the equipment, you said no bubble/dome for the shield, will that be possible later, and maybe even grav lifts with transparent plastic that can be used for spartans so they are being "lifted".

Glad to hear exclusives will be held back some, does this mean no more UK only exclusives, and that they will be available here and the UK.

How about scaled ships, i.e. Pillar of Autunm spelled that wrong, In Amber Clad, various big ships from the game, that can't be in scale to 5 or 2.5 inch figures.

And just a question I have had and wanted to know if its possible down the line, magnets instead of pegs, I know the reason may be cost, but is it possible to see actual magnets in the peg holes and on the weapons. I have looked all over for small magnets and can't find the exact size needed.

The Heroic Collection will be focusing on Halo Wars for the majority of 2009. After that, anything's possible.

I know the feeling, but it certainly helps when you aren't playing with randoms. I only play with a full party and have my audio set to "team/party" only. It makes it much easier to enjoy the game.

That's not the point of the game, the ranking is only to put you with similarly skilled players, it's not a system where you try to achieve a higher rank. This is why is should be invisible to players :/

Instead of naming them Wave 4, Wave 5, etc, they are naming them 2009 Wave 1 Equipment Edition (aka, Wave 4), 2009 Wave 2 Equipment Edition (aka, Wave 5) and so forth.

I honestly wish they'd get rid of the ranking, make it invisible, but you know they wont, it feeds the system, that's the sole reason they don't... I wish they'd at least just take it off the game, but leave it on the website..

I usually play every night.. maybe 3-5 nights a week, not for long periods, just for ****s and giggles.. I usually play with my friends, but lately they haven't been on(when my cousin was laid off, lol.. he call me at 6am to jump on and play)... now granted, it is cool to play awhile and see yourself go up a rank.. but to only play for the rank.. that's sad.

I can't wait till they start chipping kids at birth, then when they pick up a controller, or however it is in the future, it reads their birthdate and boots them out.. now, THAT'S WHAT WE NEED(someone put that in the next board updates too)!

I personally just mute people, or have my mic plugged in, then throw it on the couch, or just turn it all the way down, I usually only have it on when playing with friends and family..

Still, the best part of Halo, even after LIVE and all.. LAN parties.. now that's what it's all about, no stupid numbers, no flashy badges.. just plain and simple.. FUN!

In reference to your previous post, the goal of Halo 3 is not to reach a 50 mate, it is to have fun, if you aren't good enough to get a 50, then you dont get one, simple as. The only people who whine about the ranking system are those who cant get to the skill level they desire.

I only did that when my teammates were being complete idorts. For example: In a game of CTF, we were supposed to defend our flag while the other team tries to get it (One sided CTF). You wanna know want my team did? They went to the enemies team base just to get killed and then later me because I was the only one left for the next 15 seconds.
I only killed one (the last one to leave) every now and then so at least he/she would respawn by my side to help when the enemy horde came in.

The condescending tone I have with him is not because of his spelling alone but his dumb ideas, you can just tell how old this kid is by some of the **** he says, I mean, just imagine how much the gameplay experience would change and how much the sandbox would have to be tweaked to make destructible environments WORK in gameplay terms, its just a pretty ridiculous qualm to come up with.

But Im not here to make enemies, I just think that there should be some sort of an age cap for communities like this.

Hey Jon, wanted to wait a bit for the flurry of posts to die down here before I chimed in.

First, hanks for answering all those questions everyone posted! A ton of info in there I wanted to know has been answered. Ahh, I can finally get my grunt army going now.

The equipment series is what I've been waiting for. But I too awww'd about the bubble shield not being a full or partial dome. The individual panels are hexagons and got me thinking. Couldn't you include a piece of the dome with each figure so you could build your own as you collected the series? All it would take would be a chunk of three hexagonial, semi-curved panels to provide the basic geometric shape and form a sphere if you collected enough. And really you'd only being building half a dome. Each piece would be exactly the same with locking tabs/slots on either side made of clear plastic.

I also was bummed I didn't see a scale Warthog boxed set. People were buying the Haloclix and older Joyride Warthogs up, even the Hot Wheels sized ones. I just keep thinking you'd have a hit on your hands, including a special driver just like you're doing with the Mongoose.

And now for my question. I see dual magnums/carbines listed there. Will there be a different left hand now so you can dual-wield weapons? You would still be able to hold the underside of the rifle even if it was like the right hand, as long as the thumb wasn't so easily torn off. Thanks for the huge update and listening!

Most stores are chargig $15-$20 for Halo figures now. How could the Hunters sell for the same price? Maybe at Wal-Mart, but nowhere else...

Yeah, just regular masking tape and some electrical tape. But the paint I used comes off nicely with some solvent, so it wasn't a huge deal, I just need to figure out how to do it right. I think the trick is going to be getting some really adhesive tape and using as few pieces as possible.

What about Mezco's Wink (Hellboy) ? That guy is even bigger has an awesome sculpt which is no rehash. And he was released in a Clamshell...
And the 22" ALIEN by Neca ? I know it's more expensive than the Hunter will be. But compare their size and then the money you have to pay for it.

But it's not only the Hunter, it's McFarlane products in general. The Poacher or Tyr are really tiny and I had to pay the same price as some of the WOW figures or Wink...
The Legendary Halo statues arent bigger than the spawn line was and feature NO articulation. Yet I have to pay MUCH more money to get them.
And yes I'm actually going to buy that Hunter because it's my favourite enemy. But I just don't see why McFarlane's products are that much more expensive in relation to the products of other companies.
Oil costs ? Tell that to other companies...
