Do you want constructive criticism? If not skip to the pros.
*The head looks a little big, and her pose is somewhat weird for a lightsaber stance.
Pros - it looks skuplted friggen amazingly, and I couldn't do that worth ****. It is a nice piece of art work I'll tell you that much.

hey thanks guys! yea I feel like the head is a little big too.. maybe just the face b/c the head measures out ok to the rest of the body. I actually made the head first as practice, but it turned out good so I stuck it on the body, which didn't fit perfectly but I went with it. I had a vision of a pose I wanted to do, and it came out ok; but yes, something I am working on too! I am trying to get better with anatomy detail and overall flow; meaning the poses and expression. But I am a relatively new sculptor.. only a couple of years.
Spliff- You like Tool, yes? Why a Doom? I made some maynard sculptures...
Honestly, if some of the guys at Mcfarlane want to challenge me to making something then let me know.. I'm always up for it! :)

Ol' Spliff meant Doom as in the Fantastic Four villain.
You have alot of talent so I would like to see you tackle that one as well. ;) :D

Well, first off, that's amazing. Beautifully done, man.
But, aside from the minor things that have already been pointed out, there's something a little odd I noticed. Unless she's standing stock still with her arms above her head like that, there should be more movement in her clothing. It looks like she's in the middle of some badass Sith lightsaber move, which means her skirt-robe-thingy should be billowing out instead of just waving toward the ground.
Again, it's a beautiful sculpture, and any nits I'm picking are just meant to be constructive.

That is amazing. I do agree that the head seems a tad bit too large, but it's not a huge difference. I think the pose is a little weird, but I think I can imagine what you were going for. Having said all of that, it is still an awesome looking sculpt. I look forward to seeing some future work from you.

Cardslinger- depends on the subject, if it is something I would enjoy sculpting I would charge less.. mainly for time and materials. This Ventress took around 15 hours, I think, I loose track of time when I'm doing art. For something I enjoy making, I would charge around $10/hour, something I don't like so much, around $20. If I really didn't like the subject, I wouldn't take the commission.. so what kind of stuff do you have in mind?
I made this sculpture because I needed to diversify my portfolio; I usually do original idea pieces, but I needed to show that I could sculpt something such as a star wars figure.
As for this Ventress, originally I was not planning to paint it. But I have a wicked color scheme in mind.. does anyone have an opinion on this?
And in response to the Doom requests, is there a particular reason you want Doom? Are there no other good figures of him out there?
Currently on my list to do:
Frank N'Furter from rocky horror for my sis
Joker in Nurse uniform for my friend Tatjana
Unfinished/Need to finish one day projects:
Padme from attack of the clones
Joker with head hanging out of car (need to sculpt the side of the car)

Great attention to detail. That's the best part of this sculpture. The shoes and the arm wrapping are nicely detailed. but I agree with the first poster about the head. That was the first thing I noticed was how big the head looks and the unusual pose. But overall, nicely done.

Ok, scratch everything said before. People are 7 and a half heads tall including the head http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Figure_drawing
She is a little over 6 heads tall. Sorry for being so anal, but it was just driving me crazy :D

Well I painted the ventress, turned out really cool. I'll post pics tonight when I get home. I'll try to show some more angles too. If I were to make something like this for mass production, I would for sure fix the head size. And for pieces I make in the future, I'll try to be more exact on scale. I could always chop this head off and make a smaller one; but I like how it turned out..
Those interested in my older work- www.futantshadow.deviantart.com/gallery
but as you will see, my older work isn't as well done for anatomy and such.. I am getting better and better though!

Very nice man
the pose makes sense if she just STARTED her whole thing like that, but not if it's in motion from something else, so it looks good in my eyes

actually i am using a bright light source and no flash.. the light you see on the top photo is a reflection of the light source. i am not a very good photographer; it is hard to do justice to my artwork! ;)

Please don't take offense, futant, but I think you're a sculptor, not a painter. The paint on Asajj sort of ruins the look, at least for me.

hey no prob. sculpting is my #1 passion. I do enjoy painting though. I had this realization last night... well first, working for Mcfarlane has always been my dream. But I realized that my art is very different then what Mcfarlane. From the feedback here, which has been very positive, it made me see that people here want great detail in figures that they like. Well, I can do very good detail, but what is most important about my art, is the emotion and expression. I think back over all the Mcfarlane toys that I have and that I have seen, and there isn't any expression or emotion in any of them beyond just being an action pose. How many Mcfarlane toys expression love? pain? loss? hate? I can't think of any.. which is ok, I think Mcfarlane makes what people want. In all of my personal artwork I strive for meaning, and that is what defnes art to me. I would want to work for Mcfarlane, but only if I could bring my personal touch; by bringing emotion to their figures and making them art and not just toys. Such as in the Asajj Ventress figure, even though I was going for high detail and acuracy, the important goal was to show expression and thought in the pose. When I show the piece on art webpages, everyone sees it for the art and loves it; but here, people are more concerned with the details. Which is ok, I understand.
