That's what you get for trying to change it. Just sing it the way it supposed to be sung!

Dude, that was the most awful rendition of the National Anthem I have ever heard. She kept the pacing all off so she could add her inflections and it just sounded like garbage. Even worse than Rosanne because i think this girl seriously thought she could sing.
Great game though

Who sang it?
SpikeDawg
09-15-2008, 07:41 PM
I never have been able to understand why people try to sing it differently. It is a beautiful great song as is just let it be and show some respect!

I'll go ask my 8 yr old who she is. One of the Bubble Gum Bimbo flavors of the week. That's what she gets for trying to showboat it. If you're going to add your own "flavor" to the National Anthem, you better be on pitch and you DAMN well better get the words right. "O'er the land of the free, and the LAND of the brave" Are you friggin' KIDDING me!?!
It was Cat De Luna BTW. According to my 8 yr old she's known for a song called "Wine Up"?

That was Kat Deluna? Makes sense now. Horrific singer... should never ever do the National Anthem. Typical Jerry...
Isn't it Hispanic heritage month or something like that? That's the idea I got from the broadcast where they kept showing footage from these flag football games between kids so I guess she was the best hispanic singer they could find on short notice.

Wow, that kind of sucked. Thats one song that shoud NEVER be improvised. Makes me dream of the Whitney Houston Super Bowl anthem... one of the best ever.

Just sing the song and quit with the BS.

It was horrendous. I hate when these singers try and make the National Anthem a pop song. Im glad she booed. Hopefully, she does a Vince Young, but actually go through with the suicide.
X2. I was telling everyone here the same thing. Can't anyone just sing the national anthem like it's supposed to be sung any more?
Poor girl. But those singers try too hard when they add extra stuff and carry it out.
But it's on par with my karaokee after half a bottle of whiskey

Well if you want to be technical the poem was never really made for singing.

With MNF playing pieces of Metallica's new album before every break they should have just gotten James Hetfield to do it.

Helll no! Do you not remember Scott Stapp slaughtering "God Bless America" at a baseball game 7th inning stretch years back? It was almost as bad as Kat De Luna last night.

Im glad someone else mentioned this. Why do singers (and I use that term loosely) always try and bring attention to themselves by doing there own rendition of the national anthem?.........I think the song needs to be sung in a conservative, proper way. Its our national anthem and needs to be treated with respect and some sense of pride. She (and she isnt the only one) seems to think it deserves her special touch (or whatever she wants to call it)....it was plain horrible and she should be ashamed.....the national anthem isnt some gangster/blues jingle.

Maybe everyone wants to be like Jimi Hendricks and have their version considered a classic.

Maybe everyone was to be like Jimi Hendricks and have their version considered a classic.
Yeah, but Jimi actually had a reason for doing it the way he did and it wasn't self-promotion. The only 2 I can think of that did the Star Spangled Banner in their own style besides Jimi that actually carried it off well are Whitney Houston and Marvin G.A.Y.E.

09-16-2008, 10:39 AM
Oh yeah, I agree about the Jimi one. And the Whitley one was great. I don't think I have ever heard the Marvin version... I may need to check that out. But this one will go down with Rosanne and Carl Lewis as the worst ever.
