View Full Version : My Walmart Story....9/18

Just got home from Walmart. Walked in about 8:45 and there were FIVE cases of the 12" Spartans and one case of Ser 2 still on the pallet.
I went up front, got a cart and loaded the cart up with a couple cases of 12", and the ser 2 case. I pulled one piece of the tape off the ser2, did not even get it all the way off and an old lady employee said "sir, you cant open the freight". she gave me a lecture about how I should not do this due to a "safety hazard". I apologized and said I would not do it again. She said "so you were the one who tore all the saran wrap off this pallet?". I said no, I just walked up. I could tell I was just marked for something I had not even done yet.
I then asked her to stock the ser2, and I wanted to buy the two cases of 12". she said ok, took out her safety box cutter and started slicing the box so fast she almost put he blade into my stomach, missing the center tape every stroke and finally finished it up by putting her fist right through the box. the then passed me the box and said "take what you want". I found only one EOD blue, side crushed, so I took it. I then offered to stock the shelf for her, and she said no, grabbed the blue EOD from me and football spiked it right into my cart.
We walked over to the halo section and then she said "so you want these too?" (meaning the 12") I hesitantly said yes. She then took one box started her slicing and put another fist through it crushing the top of the spartans box on one of them. I said "can I please pull the other one out?" she said sure.
She then got the trusty price gun and said "I bet you can't get these cause the are probably not scanned in". Sure enough, not in the system. She said she doesnt know how and NOONE in the whole store knows.
I asked for a manager, she then called the operator 6 different times calling me "the guy who got into the freight" needs a manager. I told her if she wanted to hold two cases for me, I would wait until tomorrow to pick them up. She said she would not hold them and she would not even promise that they would be there in the morning. I asked "how can anyone buy them if I cant?" She said "I dunno". The manager showed up and this old B***H told the manager the caught me grabbing the freight off the pallet (ok true), ripping open boxes and damaging the figure! I said no you opened every box for me???? and you punched through them???? She looked at her boss and said "No I didnt".
So long story short, the manager said I could not have the figures, and I had to wait until tomorrow. By now I am getting a little upset about hunting day in an day out for this and seeing nothing, finally finding them, getting to hold it and then having them taken from me.
I then told this lady there were two options:
1. you find someone to put them in tonight, while I wait and then let me leave.
2. you take at least two cases to the back now with my name on them and call me tomorrow when they are entered. If I did not get a call within a reasonable time, I would just come back. The person in charge gets in at 7:30, I call at least twice a week on days I work and cant get up there and she always gets in at 7:30.
The manager said "if that is all he wanted, just go put them in the UPC office and let him get them tomorrow. The old lady complained the entire time putting them in the office.
Before anyone judges, yeah I shouldnt have taken them off the pallet, but it was a pretty hard to find item. I have been seaching since the first post from bulldozer that he got them. I am not scalping by buying extra, only buying for the boardies here. I was hoping to get them and get trades for my find, but nothing unreasonable. If they were available, I would have probably grabbed all 5 cases for everyone. I am probably marked at this wm for life (especially coupled with my lawnmower returning incident a couple months back: another story), and I will be surprised if I even come out of this with one figure.
All in all it was enough to get my blood pressure up, and just continue to add to my absolute disgust in the Walmart corporation.
Aside: I had not shopped in a walmart until the halo ser 1 came out, then I did not set foot into one again after I got my set until the lawnmower issue, then after I got my ser2 I stayed away until boardies needed blues. Now one of my new favorite lines is doing their entire wave at walmarts only. Anyone just want to hunt there for me so I can stay out??
Sorry for such a rant, just a litte aggravated at this.

It is actually a policy that if a palette is on the sales floor, the items on the palette are free game for customers(my cousin works FT at a walmart and has confirmed this, then again managers can always reject you no matter what). That lady is just a B****. I take things off palettes all the time, and employees even help me look for things. They have always been respectful and nice, and of course i do the same. You just got a bad store, sorry man.

09-18-2008, 09:21 PM
Yea. I don't take stuff off pallets before I ask, but now the whole toy section night crew knows me by face and phone number, hence how I got my 2nd set of S2 blues tonight. They're really nice to me now when I come in cause I'm nice to them. This lady was just a *****, and I unno what to say about the manager. He shoulda believed you over the emplyee, A, customers always right, and B, she was being a ***** from the get go and he shoulda realized it. That's utter BS.

You sir are too nice. Not only would I have openly challenged the employee who LIED, but I would have raised holy hell about not selling me product that was merely waiting to be set. Now, on the flip side of the coin, It seems to me you were a little greedy and maybe had you only needed 1 or two of each fig it would have been a different story?
ahsikes
09-18-2008, 10:10 PM
Greedy? Wait until tomorrow.
I personally own one set of each blue. I have five extras sitting here to trade. two sets are gone
one to meatwad, one to sentinal. the fifth spartan is going to a boardie I am still searching for. I promised him the next one I found. i actually did not even open one to display. I like the campaign figs for that.
as far as the 12", I am not even keeping one for myself, not ebaying them, only posting them here if I get them for equal money in items I can not find around me.
greedy? na.

F* that! I always open them. They are on the floor so they are fair game! I have only has a worker attempt to stop me once and I just told them F* off and walked away with the case! What are they going to do "Beat me up"? I am paying for the items that ARE FOR SALE! Tell them the customer is always right and walk away. BTW I have that black and yellow safety blade they use(The exact one), and use it to cut them open. Hell I stock the shelves neatly a lot if no workers are around and I want to open one of the boxes! :). :D

wow
I hit my wal-mart up tonight, a 24hr one.
They had 2 cases of 12" Halo on the pallet and one case of Halo 3 Series 2.
I asked the stocker nicely if he could open them and he did and they were in the system.
I bought the Blue ODST, I didnt have enough money for the 12" ones so I left em there for now.
They also had a case of NFL 1 with a Favre variant but I left it as well...
Wish I had more money.. uggghhhh

She apologized to me and said I'll put a rush on it.
I said dont worry about it, I just wanted to come expalin my side before you had this image of me.
She said she would have a talk with the crypt keeper.
before I could walk out she called and said "its done, come on back".

Reposting here so people see where I am coming from as to why I don't sell:
It breaks down like this. I found these, I can't find my wants. I am a mcfarlane collector, but I have recently discovered how cool the DCU are open. I hunt my ***** off for my finds. The money part is really not that important to me.
If I sell something here, I sell for C+S + paypal fees.
I am here to help out, but honestly, if I sell the figures, what did I get for my find?
I do hunt for the boardies, and I don't mind helping out, but i recall when I was looking for unmasked bm someone here said something like....my batman is worth more than your two halo figs because of the ebay price, so no deal?????
When that happened, I decided that I would not sell, only trade for or buy outright what I wanted. I am not a seller for profit. If I find say something I do not collect, then I will post it up for grabs. If I just sell it, then I pack your item, go to post office (about 30 min from me) for nothing. just to get my money back. You will find posts as me selling off a line here or there, but Ask Charlie Murphy about the 50 spawn pieces that went for 200-250? Or check out the halo ser 1 and 2 at 13.00 a fig shipped where most of those ser 1 were bought at gamestop...so that is shipped free prices. Actually anyone that trades with me, will find that one of us my lose by 5 bucks, or so, but I look at this as allowing us to each enjoy the find. If I sell it, then the money I spent just gets put back in my account. I WANTED to spend the money!
BTW ser1 and 2 and 555 points no longer available. That is why no pics.
So I have the 12" blues. They are for TRADE only. I appreciate the enquiries and bumps, but if you do not have my wants, GET OUT THERE AND HUNT THEM DOWN.

Tell us about your lawn mower return!
ahsikes
09-19-2008, 10:26 AM
Dude. Really? Walmart employees do not read!:
Alright, started off a bright sunny day......
We just moved to a new house, no lawn service, so I had to buy a lawnmower. I planned on getting service but they could not come out for a couple of weeks. The grass was pretty tall when we moved in. I am VERY allergic to fresh cut grass, causes wheezing etc, but my wife agreed to cut it if I got the mower. Knowing I would only use it a couple times, I was not spending a lot of money so I thought go to walmart. They sell everything that is repackaged as made in the USA, it has to be good, and cheap at the same time..RIGHT?
I go in and buy the 138.00 mower (what do I know, havent cut grass since puberty), it says Briggs and Stratton. That is what my DAD USED, it has to be durable, manly (ARR ARR ARR Tim Allen), and reliable.
Get it home add the oil, gas attach sparkplug and fire it off. Runs great in the garage for a few minutes and I call the wife to get out there and do the deed.
She cuts literally a three foot path. Now I said the grass was high, but this is a gated community that they would cut it for you if it looked too bad, so not unmanageable for the mower. And I lifted the deck to make it easy for her. The mower makes a loud KLANG and that was it. the pull start was jammed, motor seized. Its dead.
I call WM, not more than an hour after leaving. I get the "expert" on the phone and he says..."you know there are several that keep coming back with that complaint". "Why are you still selling them? I ask" He says "noone told us not to". I say touche'. I tell the guy there is still the new oil and fuel in this thing, and ask if I should dump it before returning? (again, what do I know I am a smart guy, but an idiot in the art of grass cutting). He said "na, just bring it back, I need to try and start it anyway???". I get there, roll it into the garden center and the guy says "sir, if you are returning, you have to go to customer sercvice". I say "well, it has fuel in it, I think it should be left here." "go on bring it in the store", he says. I do so, get stopped at the door and told you have to dump the fuel out of it....and the oil! *** just drove 30 min back to this store to get a refund, told not to, and now I do. Nothing to dump it in, I take the box, unfold it in my truck bed and dump the contents into my own truck as not to get any on the pavement.
I get back in the store and the customer service teen says "I still smell fuel". I say that is because it is a device that requires fuel to run.....oh and ten minutes ago, you saw it had fuel in it." Great investigative work there Watson. She opens the fuel tank and said " I still see a little fuel in there, I wont take this back." now I had it sitting upside down for 10 minutes. I know she could have said there was a little oil in there, but fuel? Just the mere heat of the day should have evaporated the residue.
Now I am so P***ed I am turning red, shaking. I say "wait one minute, Ill get the fuel out!". I roll that piece of crap to the bathroom, stuff paper towels into the tank a wick out every last drop of fuel... BTW this is against OSHA rules and it will DEFINETLY get you in trouble with management.
I come out of the bathroom to see a line of their meatiest employees and two managers standing behind the little customer service teen. Aparently while wicking, an employee came in to take a leak and saw me doing the deed. The then rolled the cleaning cart and demanded I clean the bathroom (actually just take out the fuel soaked garbage), and leave the store. I said "not til you give me the money back". The manager said "we could discuss this outside???" So not to drag on, there was an old fashioned mexican stand off between me and the Marts. I got my money, took out their garbage, and I actually did drive it home and dispose of it properly..
This was the SAME WM!! There are 20+ in my town, why do I keep going back to this mess???
"NO WALMART EMPLOYEES WERE HARMED DURING THIS INCIDENT".

Yes W-M sucks but i need a job so i stay. On the bright side no one here buys halo. We had a cyan sit on the shelf for 2-3 weeks till i felt sorry for it and gave it a home. We also have 4 cases of 12 inch spartans but they are not on file so they sit in the back. Most people wont find them till they are put in the system.

Its nice your trying to help out boardies but what about the collectors that don't come on this board. Or people that might not want to chance shipping damage. I am sorry but you are being unfair to others that have been hunting just as long for the same toys (I hope you don't think you are the only one in your town that collects them). A very small percentage of collectors actually use the mcfarlane forums. That just my take on the situation.

I left 3 cases behind. I could have taken them all, but chose not to:
1. because I was getting what I wanted from the toy manager and I did not want to come off as a hoarder
2. because I felt it was the right thing to do.
Either way, you are jealous, admit it. I also see bitterness. That is cool. As it is your right to feel your way it is my right to do as I wish.
I could have opened them and let my kids have at them. One has been begging since she got home from school. Then would you call me a bad father because I let my kids play with them and deprived other families from having their own?
BTW, just foud ser 3 halos here. Bought EVERY ONE Of THEM. almost TWO sets.

I work for wal mart and you are allowed to take frieght of the pallet. Thats bull**** because they are already in the computer when they come in through the doors. the lady had no right to talk to you like that you can have her fired or writing up. You should have called coperate and explained to them what happened and said that they lost a customer if they dont make this right by ordering you a box and you paying for the box at store price. We have done that for a customer before. just giving a heads up for next time the lady wants to be on her period.

I lived in G'ville 95-2000. I was into hotwheels then. I have seen it all.
Kid poked in the eye over holding up a treasure hunt and going ha ha to a flea market dealer. the guy poked him and tried to take his th!
I have heard of knife fights in Target over Star Wars figures in Ocala.
I have walked up on employees in WM opening cases in the blue vest taking out just TH and setting the cases on the pallet, when I got a case he said "oh no you have to wait until they are on the shelf".
Here in Jax at another WM I opened a case of hotwheels, took out the TH, went for case two and was escorted out of the store by security with the police called if I did not leave quietly.
I have seen cases on the pallet, asked permission to open the hotwheels the employee say yes, i'll be right there load them on a cart and literally run them to the back of the stockroom. That is where my camaro from 05 came from, but I never saw the other cases.
It was well known that anything sw or hotwheels was sloppy seconds at one gvill walmart. the local fleamarket dealer paid the manager to keep toys and several occasions I would see the flea guy coming out of the stockroom with goody boxes.
I have walked in to a wm at 2am to see a guy going through cases of hotwheels only to have the employee say "here you go Jim I have been saving these for you." about a half of a case of TH. I asked the guy could I buy just one he said ha, no. and left.
I have done this so much it gets tiring dealing with employees. I do not want everything, but I pick what I want and as hard as I hunt, I expect to find it.
I think every store makes up the policy as they go on. I would love to be the fly on the wall at one of the wallyworld meetings.
Just tell the customer that everything is on the floor.
No one has the ability to enter an item into the system.
I am the manager on duty, but I do not have the authority to sell that to you.

I wonder if that is the reason why I can't find any toys at one Walmart and two targets. There is a comic book store close by. I would'nt be surprised if I step in there and find all the stuff I hope to find at the retail stores around them.
Kabong30
09-19-2008, 04:17 PM
I simply find it unbelievable that Grown-ups would behave that way over toys. I have bought things here or there to trade, etc. So I don't have a problem there, but to fight with people, and pay off managers to hold things for you. Some people would be better off not existing.

My comic stores here get mcfarlane already.
Now I was talking to an employee there and she asked had I seen the red hulks in target. When I said yes she said her and several of her friends were all hunting for those.
I would not be surprised. I would check there and fleamarkets if you have them.
