I have DirecTV at home but have an extra receiver and dish that are just sitting there.

What do I need to do to set them up to work when we tailgate before Cardinals games?

My thought is I just connect them and get the dish up as high as possible (facing in the correct direction) and put in that little "card" from one of my working TIVOs at home.

Will that do the trick, or do I actually have to subscribe to a third service (in addition to my two functioning receivers at home)?

Any other suggestions?

Thanks.

I don't believe you can just mix and match access cards anymore. I'm pretty sure they are tied to a specific receiver nowadays.

youre going to have to use one of the active receivers you have at home.

Yep. Cards and receivers are mated nowadays. If you put it in a different receiver, it may work for a few minutes, but it will stop working as soon as they send a query in the signal stream.

5 bucks for setting up the box as an additional one in you home and then taking the show on the road

Or free if he just unhooks one of the boxes he already has.
