Whats with the gloss on the EOD? Are the blue and pink ones exclusives? The only one where it specifies it being an exclusive is the steel security. Another worldwide. EW.

I hope so. I have never been able to find any of the Wal Mart exclusives, there's only literally around the corner from me, and I have to resort to Ebay to retrieve both series 1 and 2. It's frustrating. Fye stores are rare around me, but I was able to get the Gold's, but there's a bunch of Wal Marts and they seem to not stock enough of the them because the pegs are always empty. And I live in So Cal, where there's a whole mess of collectors and scalpers.

I think the rocket looks about right...keep in mind that in the game it's usually right up next to your face, thus perspective can be a little skewed.

Not to me. Them driving the hype machine versus actual information is worse. Some of us hate dealing with exclusives and it would make my day to see only one for Series 4. Hopefully they saw the errors in their ways from Series 3 where 13 outta 16 figures are exclusives....God that is just depressing to write. I gotta track down 13 (2 overseas ones I might add) figures where I come from a town, HELL, A STATE, where there are very few exclusives to be found. The only exclusive I've ever seen was the Gamestop one.

So here's a question-is the Heroic Collection supposed to be in-scale with the Halo Wars figures? I've seen them quoted as being 3 inch figures up till this point, but now they appear to be 2.5 inches, which is about where the Wars figures are. Bonus if they are to scale, I had thought they were not.

No thats not what I was getting at... I mean the "Equpment edtion" figures are supposidly 6 inches tall (according to the info page), but I guess they are in scale with the current figures then?

All the figures since Series 1 say that man, go look. They're considered 6" scale by McFarlane because that's about the size of the Brutes, the biggest figures in the line.

Why would you want to do that? They can make those repaints in seconds, but the campaign figures take more effort so they need them out there to make back their money.

Retailer exclusives offer more incentive for those retailers to carry the line.....therefore more potential sales.......and more often than not they're repaints, because they're cheaper to produce than a unique sculpt, and they'll make more back on it....what with it only being available in one store.

I can't check paint or figure/accessory condition online. I'm sure everyone's been burned at least once by a funky paint job that could have been adverted had they been buying in a store store.

I've been lucky so far. Cept the blue EOD I bought on Ebay had 2 right leg joints, one on the right and one on the left. Half his ass was in the front. And I pulled him apart and fixed that with some of my extra MC pieces I had left over. So far, everything else has been fine.

Nope it's not that they're out of stock, it's because they haven't had them in yet. Notice how all of the Series 3 figures on the site say 'Out of stock'? I have contacted the U.K distributors of the figures, Diamond Comics, and they said that they are distributing them early October, so the figures won't arrive in stores for at least another few days yet.

This brings up another question Jin.... Why doesn't Target carry the McFarlane Halo line?! I'm sure an exclusive to them would not be an issue... :confused:

Exclusives are a good idea, and people like them, so I'm not going to argue that, even if their number is questionable.

The only thing that needs urgent redressing here is the Wal-Mart situation. No one can get any! Honestly, if they're selling out almost immediately everywhere around the country, wouldn't they want at least a little more stock? You've got to have at least a little leverage with them (though their relationship with suppliers is legendary for its' onesidedness), so I think most fans would appreciate a little more support.

you had to have run into them at some point in Halo 3, but they weren't nearly as abundant as they were in previous games. I personaly thought they were highly underused and would have loved to have seen a couple new variations and some more depth added to their combat ranks (Scarab not included)

Last I heard, they were just a very violent group of worms. When the Elites went in to tame the Lekgolo, they got their butts handed to them as far as ground battles went. The Covenant bombarded them from the air which finally got the Lekgolo to surrender and join the Covenant. I don't think they are the type to have scholars or philosophers, but in one of the books, a Hunter that went on a violent rampage and recited poetry afterward. And considering it takes a colony to have a conscious, I thought they do much thinking. I'm sure you can find more from the Halo Wikia and bungie.org's Halo Story sites since those have been my sources for Halo story information.

I agree. The Lekgolo could use a more fleshed out background story.

Looks good, but I'm disappointed that the Bubble Shield will also be "invisible", since this implies the Brute Stalker's equipment in the next release will also be like this. If you take a look at the bestiary book that came with the Special edition of Halo 3, it talks a bit more about the Hunter culture. Apparently, they were an extremely advanced civilization that just could not attain space flight due to the extremely high gravity of their homeworld. The problem is that their culture is extremely opaque to outsiders, making information about their political structure and/or religious beliefs difficult to grasp.

The next new campaign figure besides the hunter doesn't come out until may! ( I don't count the arbiter, because he's basically a repeat/rerelease. Besides, the orginal arbiter seems to be a peg warmer. in my area theres about 15 of them still left between 2 walmarts and a toys r us.) I guess they're milking everything they can from these multiplayer figs to cut costs.

But theres more to halo than pretty colored spartans...

A lot of people believe that and use Elites for that reason in Team Swat. The hitboxes are slightly different, but I don't think either player type has a major player advantage over the other.

Bungie says the hitboxes are not different between Spartans and Elites. It's all in your head.

For the Ascetic armor, you can put a bullet right through the horns/fangs/protruding-parts from the side without doing damage.

the hitboxes are the same size, just slightly lower. the Elite's head sits a bit lower, it just take getting used to where the head is supposed to be.

overall the Elite is a vastly easier target because it's a lot bigger and easier to spot. the only thing easier to spot than an Elite with a Combat helmet is a Spartan with an EVA helmet

The elite is by far the best fig ever. I'm hoping they come out with a crimson one(campaign colored) and a gold and of course the white shipmaster- half jaw. WHITE POWER! er I mean... yeah, that would be sweet.

Also am I the only one who wants more grunts? How bout a deluxe grunt two pack? One red, one orange with new needler and a plasma pistol. Come on, they make great army builders.

I'll be repainting a couple of the elites I get. Probably one into a zealot, one into a crimson dude. And Joe said they're definately revisiting grunts, just in different colours.

Elite is amazing, and I am loving collecting Halo even though I just started. I do however have one problem in which some people would agree. They are supposed to make 7 waves of halo in 2009. How they hell can everyone waste that much money? 15 figs + a wave, especially if they are all good will get expensive. My suggestion is make like 4 waves a year, this gives time to fix issues with figures and make better quality ones. We pay an average of $14 for halo figs which McFarlane can make for $0.50 - $1.00... we deserve better then this for what it costs them to make these. Thats basically it, discuss or whatever although I am still definitely collecting, it's not fair I might not be able to colelct everything because there are 100 figs+ a year (expensive much?)

they cut back bigtime on the exclusives in order to do that for 2009 in order to deal with exactly that type of overload. you're not going to see 15+ figures per wave. my predicition is that you're going to see about half of that with some bonus figures possibly thrown in from time to time, some other boxed sets and perhaps some more multipacks akin to the Chief vs. Chieftain set

I noticed this. Actually I thought his helmet had a slightly elongated back to it like it did in Halo 2. Plus the armor on his forearms, particularly the elbows had more to it. AND on the back is a forerunner symbol of some sort. But on the bright side, the legs are the same.

I think he was just called the Heretic but I might be wrong. They actually have alot of Campeign figures they haven't made yet. We got 3 Profits, Marines of different shapes and sizes, a bunch of other humans, such as Johnson and the other chick (forget her name at the moment). Tarterus from Halo 2, Half Jaw, Us'ze, different flood forms, pilot marines... The list goes on. Specially if there's only 4 or 5 campeign figures per set. And we all know MC is gonna take up one of those spots. Odds are we'll prolly see a few more renditions of Arby with new weapon types and hand sculpts as well.

-I hope we get weapons packs more than anything now (besides a nice Warthog and/or Banshee...). McFarlane should pack it with a weapons crate or tube you see scattered throughout the game for easy storage! (And what's taking so long to see some plasma grenades?)

Nothing is ever definite. The entire line could tank next year and we might not see anything past the first wave.

I find it pretty ironic that one of the rarest and most exspensive figures as of right now is the grunt, the most common enemy in the game. I think the Blue and Reds can stay special. Maybe have a couple of the next ones points rewards too. But what else can they do? Eventually people are gonna stop buying repaints. Whats left after that? Just campeing figures? They won't make any money. They need the exclusives to keep the line alive.

I thought the Grunts did pretty well. There are plenty of people (like myself) who will buy campaign figures. The fact that you can't find any in stores tells us that the line is doing just fine. Yes, it will die out in a few years. But without more characters, there will be no way to keep the line alive.

I know the campeign figures will sell. That's a definite. But WM and a few other stores said they won't sell them without the exclusives. So if they drop the exclusives, you won't be able to find them anywhere, and when you do it'll be somewhere like Spencers or FYE or comic shops that charge you close to $15-$20 a figure. And people won't wanna pay that when they used to be able to get the regular assortment at WM for $10. Basically, without the exclusives, they won't be as mass produced as they are now cause most stores won't want to sell them.

Only reason WM agreed to sell them was because they were getting exclusives for the store. They'll stick to that. They make more money off Iron Man, Star Wars, and Transfromers then they do Halo. That news story bout Halo being "a sales phenominon" (spl?) was all publicity. And even if WM wouldn't drop them, other stores will.

I don't think they'll do a bunch of recolored Mark Vs. If they do it'll only be 4 or 5 figures max. Blue in some shade, Red, Pink, Steel, and lets go with Orange or Purple. Besides MC that is. Maybe an Olive instead of one of the other colors.

But that does still give them 5-6 more figures to sell.

I'd love to see a Mk V Chief, ala Halo CE. I hope we get armor packs in addition to weapon packs, it'd be a lot easier to build your character that way. On the topic of campaign figures, I always go in wanting to get a multilayer figure but come out with two or so campaigns.

Elites become allies with the Humans and MC later. So it depends on whether you wanna do pre or post Halo 2 with those 12" Elites. I'm doing all post Halo 2 with my setups.

Just making an observation, but of all the figs with limbs falling off... the flood is the only one keeping them on? That would be pretty neat, a flood figure that could be torn apart on purpose.

You're missing Us'ze, and the silver grunts, and all the cool gold armor Elites/Brutes (although those were in 2, I don't remember seeing any in 3).

Technically he's missin N'tho too, but the Blue Elite they made is spitting image, or should be N'tho, so we're gonna let that one go. Techincally all the prophets died cept 1 by the time Halo 3 rolls around, so only one would be made in the H3 set. But if they do all the games, or the first 2 after they run out of stuff for H3, then they should make the heretics as well, + their leader, and Tarterus, and the other 2 Prophets. I also coulda swore I saw Blue Grunt armors, but I may be mistaken.

Yup. They own the license for EVERYTHING now. Halo Wars and Halo 3 are what they're mainly steering toward now. But when those get old and people don't wanna keep buying the same Spartans repainted over and over, they're gonna have to start tapping into the old school stuff to keep the line alive. Odds are we'll see more of Halo 1 and 2 figures. Which is good.

They are all over the place in the first cutscene of Halo 2.

And there is no specops grunt in Halo 3. Only Ultra. Spec ops is Halo 2. They have completely different armor color.

Hmm, this is news to me. Perhaps some older stuff may be possible...

but I'm still pretty sure McFarlane is going to be focusing on current properties. We've got "Keep it Clean" coming in, more Halo Wars stuff for sure, and then whatever Peter Jackson is working on...plenty of new stuff to translate into plastic.

Halo is going to be big with Halo Wars, Halo Chronicles, Halo movie, etc. Mcfarlane has allot to work with, and the popularity is an engine for this line's success.

It's completely out of production as things stand now, according to the people at Bungie and Microsoft.
Is there a chance it may be revived someday? Maybe. I don't see it happening, and I suspect it may be better that it doesn't happen. There's too much of a chance for it to be ruined.
