Maybe a some figures might get produced based on the recent arc. A Morana or Haberlin Nyx figure would be kinda cool. Maybe a Legion boxed set? afterall that would only require them to do 2 new figures and re-issue some old faves

I think Todd needs to do some Halo stuff. It's a pretty cool video game about humanity's fight with these alien things that want to destroy earth. There's a lot potential for multiple color schemes with the spartan character called Master Chief. Just a thought.

I never said I liked Spawn, I just hate HALO. Well, the figs anyway.

I just want them to start making crap I want to buy again. That's not really Spawn figs. But, I figure the sooner they start making Spawn figs again, the sooner we'll get something else that might not suck.

Whatever:p Those days a clearly gone. They seriously need to make a "business decision" on the packaging and remove this print, as it no longer applies. The Spawn line is reserving a place down where the Movie Maniacs, Monsters, Dragons, Blade Hunters and the Zodiacs currently reside. Speaking of, whatever happened to the whole "Best of Spawn" line?:D I guess we might as well reserve a spot for that line too, huh?:p

Maybe TMP should give us a Spawn figure in every color of the Spectrum and each color can be exclusively pimped (i mean) made available through certain retail stores. Now there is an original idea:rolleyes: How about it TMP? Give us 40 of the same exact Spawn so we can buy it 40 different times with a different color scheme. Seriously, I really don't care anymore if Spawn completely goes away at this point. If so, TMP will not be getting anymore of the thousands that I spend a year:) Simple as that. Although the Spawn line is the pinnacle of my collection, it's not the only line that I collect. My collection has taken a dramatic turn within the last couple of years to other items and lines other than McFarlane. My money will simply be redirected towards all other players in the field (Sideshow, Hot Toys, Mezco, Mattel, and yes........ even NECA). While TMP isn't giving us anything worth looking foward to (until late next year:confused:), a lot of the others are stepping up their game. Another point I hear a lot of is "Well, they need to keep up with the business and get their products into the BIG retailers". I guess the same way most of the mentioned above players (with the exception of Mattel and Neca (who is now being carried in TRU) have done over the years, right? They all seem to be doing rather well without having to become Walmart ho's:) Whatever. To each their own. TMP's business decisions really shouldn't affect most of us the way some of you guys are letting it. It should affect them. Ultimately, we are the one's that spend the money on the items, right?;)

Well said.

I hate to say it, but the way they keep making less & less that appeals to me, I think the only thing I'd miss if the company were to tank is this message board.

Sure, halo may have a huge fanbase now... but what happens when the next fad comes along, and the kiddies move on to the next thing? Wonder if Todd will be able to succesfully anticipate the next craze to keep ahead of it, AND successfully grab the licensing rights each time.......

Do you guys think a new reborn line would be reliable for TMP ???

I think so, if it includes classic demanded figures (not necessarily the spawn itself), but figures like the Skullsplitter... since they already have the molds, it would be a little cheaper to produce.

However, considering the oil's costs, these would come out to the market a little more expensive considering the size... anyway, the world of toys is changing for bad and stuff like this would be just awesome.

I know this is probably beating a dead horse, but why cant TMP just keep feeding retailers licensed products and bypass retail for Spawn figs and distribute a couple 3-4 figure lines per year with the spawn online store, collector's club style? It would cut out the middle man and TMP wouldn't have to conform to the crap retail outlets demand. I know the online store is capable of it. I remember a few years ago when 3 CC figs were released simultaneously and even sold as sets. It was Hanging Spawn, Blue Spawn, and Gory Clown. Granted, it didn't go off without a hitch, but at this point, it could be an option worth considering.

TMP must be raking in the money with the success of Halo. I don't think it's asking too much for TMP to invest something in Spawn and the online store to keep us die hard Spawn fans happy and keep us from having to shop at Walmart?

MysticAirBender
10-06-2008, 10:26 AM
Im glad to see that i am not the only one who feels this way and having online spawn.com store for distrubition isnt such a bad idea either if it means we continue to recieve figures that are not quite walmart material :)

Avatar_of_Chaos

didn't TMP just downsize their online operation significantly in the move to running most everything from Sacramento?

I'd think that could potentially put a bit of a hitch into that plan.

Also, notice the timing of everything. The Bladehunters and whatnot were cancelled at the end of the 1st quarter / beginning of the 2nd quarter of the year. If it still typically takes 10 months on average to produce a line from start to finish, and assuming that they started busting that out in May that still would make the target date around Feb. '09

Meanwhile, there's a lot of other stuff in the pipeline regarding Halo, Call of Duty, Guitar Hero and Sportspicks and a few licenses that haven't been played up yet (one we kind of know about (WtWTA), the other we don't). There's also the sculpting on Series 35 that's already in the bag that's on hold. Series 36 being this far through the process means that it could be done but still wouldn't likely be hitting till last 1st to early 2nd quarter '09 IF they pushed it so you can shift that back a bit

and they still would need to make sure that the warehouse was prepared for a CC release, which means scheduling it during the downtime where there aren't large shipments from China that need to be sent off to retail.

all things considered, I think that Spawn statue they're doing is designed to do exactly what you want, unfortuntely not as a figure but as a limited, pricier resin piece and it's basically "sold out"

and to be honest, do we really expect a new Spawn Store only line or set of individual release to sell well when so many others have floundered in the past when more people were buying more stuff and Spawn was more popular?

skubasteve
10-06-2008, 10:39 AM
They should have plenty of room left in the warehouse after they have to toss out all the Guitar Failo figures because they won't be able to give those bastids away.

Avatar_of_Chaos
10-06-2008, 11:06 AM
if they're giving them away, I'll take them.

bottom line, if TMP could make direct selling to the end consumer work, I'd be down for it.

but they'd have to get their ducks in a row and honestly, when it all comes down to it they're not going to get much faith from me in their ability to do it until they figure out what's going on with shipping and find a way to streamline the warehouse to accomodate that type of operation... and then make it work.

the inconsistencies in the ordering system, the ridiclously high shipping sometimes, the lack of any real options regarding shipping, the lack of communication regarding whether my order shipped or not and me usually getting my shipping notice after I already got my item and then my order still saying that it's in process 10 months later aren't helping

I don't think you have to worry about going to Wal Mart for Spawn figures. As Todd stated in the comics thread recently in an answer to my post about this, he stated that due to economic reasons, retailers are focusing on more mainstream products.
Which is all well & good, but why they can't offer at least some Spawn figures, like the upcoming Art of Spawn line, online from the Spawn store? One line for 2009? That's sad.
...and AoC brings up a good point, the last few Spawn lines have been pretty lackluster. There hasn't been a decent all around line since 31. They need to invest more time, energy & creativity to Spawn....not only in the toy market, but the comic as well. We'll see if the Endgame move pays off or not.

I started my collection with Spawn figs. They used to be my favorite until the last few series. I dont like the super realistic sculpts either, i always favored the figs based on comic art. I really miss having Spawn figs to look forward to. I am sick to death of Halo, Military, and Sports figs.

yes, it should've been. but please notice the face.
http://www.spawn.com/comics/Spawn/monthly/images/spawn_comic_cover_156_cl.jpg
this is Phillip's way of drawing the mask. The sculpt has the Capullo face, just like most of the spawn toys. Also, I love that Phillip portrayed the cape's collar like batwings, not a sign of that on the figure either. besides as far as I can remember he left off all the armors from spawn's body. just the spikes remained, no stuff merging to the body.

that's why I never bought a single one of that line. all figures were based on some concept arts.

but looking it this way, you guys still can hope a Haberlin spawn. With a Capullo mask. (means:no skullface)
