I'm pretty much only interested in sports stuff, so I usually end up paying the $10 admission, walk through the place once or twice, and I'm out in a half hour with nothing to show for it. Put the 50 mile drive on top of that, and it's usually not worth it. :(

Sorry but what and where is Comic Con? I've looked around and haven't found the info on it yet. I'm new to collecting, and this is my first post in the DFW thread as I just found it. :)

If it's the Plano one, it'll be at the Plano Convention Center. Basically, north on 75, exit Spring Creek, go East, and it's a mile or so down the way on the right. Usually, it attracts a bunch of Star Wars/sci-fi guests. Sometimes there's good stuff, but there's a lot of vintage SW and very few SPs. Also, don't expect to find anything at area stores that weekend because all of the dealers that come to set up for it hit like every store looking for more stuff to mark up at the show.

Frogman, Good to see you and the Mrs at TRU this afternoon. October 29 sounds good for a gathering.
Hey boys and girls, be sure to check those overhead bins at TRU. There is a very sad TRU employee in west Fort Worth today, as his/her stash of NFL 11chase figures (yes, plural) was discovered.:D It was the most chase figures I've personally seen at one time.

Scored a 12" Aikman and 12" Bettis this weekend. Also saw lots of 12" Bradys.
And I've got a White Roethlisberger and White Tiki for trade. Thought I'd offer them here first. I need a Retro Julius Jones and a White Joe Horn or Jason Elam.

****GATHERING UPDATE****
I've got a couple of ideas. #1 is kind of short notice but it's pretty easy. #2 is a ways off, but is more complicated. Here's what I'm thinking.
#1 - We all meet at Buffalo Wild Wings on Saturday, Oct. 29 around 7pm. Eat some wings, hang out, and watch a bunch of college football and whatever else they have on their 50 TVs.
#2 - We get together for another FW Brahmas hockey game. Unfortunately, the only weekend date that I think might work is Friday, Dec. 2 or Saturday, Dec. 3.
So, if we want to get together sooner rather than later, we can do Oct. 29 (even though Bryan316 won't be available). Or we can wait and plan to do the hockey game later. Or we can do both...we usually end up at BWW on Saturdays anyway. :)
Please post your thoughts so we can gauge the interest in either plan.

Anyone else having problems finding Julius Jones around here?
Still nothing at Pro Shops? I have checked TRU almost everyday and nothing. Everyone else sans the chase and Jones. Not going to jump to conclusions and blame it on the employees...but they have a bad history. An employee wouldn't sell me Finley when he accidently brought them out in a cart.

Either or both is OK with me.
Also, heard on the radio today about two Cowboy signings at new Circuit City stores this Thursday:
Circuit City, Arlington (Parks Mall, I believe): Julius Jones
Circuit City, Garland: Drew Pearson, Randy White and Walt Garrison
I think both are 6pm-7pm--I didn't write down the details.
Iamgoodyy
10-10-2005, 02:36 PM
That Julius signing would be insane I bet especially since its only for 1 hour.
Either meeting idea is okay with me. Which BWW would this probably be at? Irving?

Yes, last Friday (6 October, about 1:00pm) there were plenty of NFL 11, including a couple Julius Jones figs. It looked to be about 5 cases worth on the pegs. There were also multiples of the Roethlisberger and Barber chase figs that someone had tried to hide in an above the shelf end-cap (those didn't last long). Frogman and I shared the bounty (he and the Mrs arrived just as I discovered the hidden stash). I was more than happy to share the bounty with him. He's already offered the extra Roethlisberger and Barber for trade in this thread.
Went to Frisco TRU tonight and found 2 Roaf's and a Barber, and was super pissed. I was just lookin for a few regs!
Bryan316

I went to TRUs in Lewisville, Irving,Hurst,Frisco, and Denison. Also hit bout 20 WalMarts and few Targets, and finally drove to several GS. But to no avail no J Jones were found. I did however have a BLAST watching the Boys beat the crap out of the eagles !!!! Drove over 955 miles last weekend and was shut out !!!--was in town from Missouri for the game. Man that area has Blown up since I moved

i ended up juggling a few things around and heading out to the JJ signing last night only to be shut out. there were just too many people ahead of me(the soonest i could get there was 5) and he was personalizing everything which was really slowing the line down. he got there around 6:30 and left at 8:15 so he did stay late to try to accomodate as many people as possible. jay novacek showed up aout of the blue and took JJ's spot so quite a few people were pleased with that...i had nothing for him to sign and i've already met him a few time so i didn't feel like staying. oh well...can't win them all.

Hey Kids
Sorry I haven't been able to post but I never see the thread @ 11:30 at night. Anyway, hope all are well. I for one am going to be out of circluation for awhile. Wednesday (19th) I go in for hip replacement surgery. Yep, hard to believe someone as young (and good looking) as me could have this happen...sucks, big time. So any outting in the near future will be out for me. The Hockey game sounded fun. Really enjoyed that, what two years ago now? I should be back in approx a month to my old (with new parts) self. I would love to get another get together going then.
Go Stars !!

Well, if there's not much interest, I'll just plan to do it at the one near me between Fort Worth and Burleson. If more people want to show up, I'd be happy to go to whichever one is more convenient for everyone.....probably Grapevine or Bedford.
At this point, there hasn't been much interest expressed, so I'm just planning to go to the one in Burleson. If anyone wants to show up, they can.

Holy ****, what a steal! I'd take a "regular" white one. And the computer still shows that none of the inner DFW stores have the 12" Aikman. What a crock. I do need to run to Fight Club, so do they have them? Or did they and I'm SOL now?
We're officially the lowest scoring team in the NCAA. Go us....

About twenty minutes before the start of the signing it was announced that Reggie would only sign baseballs and 8x10s. Matthew and I had each brought a bat to get signed; Matthew's 8x10 was one of the last available from the dealers present once the announcement was made. People had spent the night in line to get jerseys, bats, etc signed. It was pretty ugly--lots of yelling, booing and threats to Ticket staff members.
When Pete Rose signed a few years back at Ticketstock, there were announcements well in advance that Rose would not sign premium items.

Nomar started to move down the line away from my daughter (he came to the side about 15 feet from where she was standing); he then saw her, stopped signing where he was, walked down to her & signed for her and her brother, and then went back to where he was signing. She was ecstatic!

My son & I camped out last year for Reggie Jackson. We arrived about 8:30pm last year for Reggie Jackson and were 40 & 41 in the line. The line started to build about 7:00amthe next morning. By the time the autograph tickets were passed out the Jackson line was ridiculously long (Reggie Jackson X3 would be close to a half mile long). My son was able to get tickets for Darren Woodson and Jason Whitten while we waited for the Reggie tickets to be passed out. The lines for Whitten and Woodson were a fraction of the Jackson line.
We weren't planning to camp out this year, but we might reconsider.

1) get there early
2) get there earlier
3) don't be disappointed if you get shut out
4) don't be disappointed when you see it's not a memorabilia show(it's basically a bunch of businesses hawking their goods, but there a few memorabilia booths there).
5) bring one of those foldable chairs...and a newspaper...and a gameboy...and a sack lunch.
other than that, have a great time! i'm debating if i actually want to get up and get out there as early as i'll have to to get aikman...i have him a few times already but it sure would be nice to have a signed SP.

yup...the dangercave has relocated. we moved from a rent house in bedford to a house we built in GP just a few weeks ago. i got tired of throwing away money to a house i'd never own. :)

The list has not been posted yet, but Chuck Morgan was on the Hardline today and said there will be 30+ current and former Rangers signing autographs at the Fanfest.
I'll be there. Anyone else?

Cowtown Jr and I ventured out into the rain to the Rangers Fanfest. It was a pretty weak autograph lineup; especially given the top players who were in town for last night's awards banquet. Here are a few pictures--I've finally entered the digital camera age, so sorry about the size, still learning the ins & outs of editing and posting these things.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v724/stookey/IMG_edit0107.jpg
Brad Wilkerson--cudos to Brad for coming to town for the banquet AND coming to Fanfest.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v724/stookey/IMG_0114.jpg
Ian Kinsler--probable starter at second.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v724/stookey/IMG_0110.jpg
Buck Showalter.
We didn't spend the whole day there. We were able to get autographs from: Wilkerson, Rudy Jaramillo, Joaquin Arias, Edison Volquez, Juan Dominguez, Gerald Laird, Ian Kinsler, Scott Feldman & Buck Showalter.
Francisco Cordero cancelled.

I got my wife with the "updog" joke last night. The funniest part of it was Matthew's reaction: 1) that my wife fell for it so easily; and, 2) his embarassment that I would even try such a joke.
Frogman

I tried it on Frogwife and it pretty much went just like it did on The Office. It's not nearly as funny if you have to tell them what to say!!! :) Here's a recap:
Frogman: Boy, that smells like "updog".
Frogwife: I don't know what that is.
Frogman: You're supposed to say.....oh nevermind.

no need to look at the actual details. :) he was instrumental in the steelers success this year. after he gave away the game in jacksonville they all decided to pull together as a team and were forced to rush big ben back from his injury. it was a vital turning point in the season. :)

i also got the red wings to sign a mini helmet when they were in town. i got a lot of the big stars including zetterberg, datsyuk, lidstrom, shanahan, draper, osgood, and some others as well. yzerman flat out said no and chelios at first said yes he would sign until 3 other guys came behind me and he saw them and said nevermind. guess its to much time for him to sign 4 autographs.
and i got paul kariya yesterday morning on a nashville puck.
