Nice pick ups on the autographs.
Did Nashville stay in town Monday night and fly to Detroit on Tuesday? I thought about checking on that, but decided to take a pass.

i also got the red wings to sign a mini helmet when they were in town. i got a lot of the big stars including zetterberg, datsyuk, lidstrom, shanahan, draper, osgood, and some others as well. yzerman flat out said no and chelios at first said yes he would sign until 3 other guys came behind me and he saw them and said nevermind. guess its to much time for him to sign 4 autographs.

I already have my tickets.:D Spring for one of the mini-plans; it is well worth the investment. The perks (comp. tickets to Rangers & Stars, Six Flags, etc...) have been worth more than what I paid for my mini-plan each of the past few seasons.
Last year the individual tickets went on sale a little later than usual. If this works like last year, season ticket holders will be able to purchase individual game tickets a day or two before the March 3 general public date.
The thing is though that we did the mini plan last year and went to 3 of the 12 games because it was so hot, bad seats, team playing poorly when it was our turn to go see games. Dont wanna do that again!

I was wondering how the All-Star festivities in Houston would impact Ticketstock and the regulars at DFW autograph events.
For those thinking about attending Ticketstock for Aikman's siging session, the Ticket announced this week that 400 autograph tickets will be distributed.

Last year my son and I did the overnight adventure at Ticketstock for Reggie Jackson. We arrived about 8:30pm; we were about 40th in line. Only about 20-25more people showed up until the next morning. The line didn't really start ot grow until about 7am. By the time they handed out the Jackson tickets at 10:00am there were probably well over 800 people in line.
The area we lined up along last year was covered; and there were a few power outlets--incase you want to bring a laptop or game system for entertainment while you wait.
I'm probably heading over in the morning

We were several people ahead of the big blue tent.
http://www.theticket.com/pics/ticketstock-2005/jackson/images/IMG_9897.jpg
We did the overnight thing more for the adventure than insuring an autograph. We knew we could arrive early morning and still get a ticket.

Cowtown Jr and I ventured out to Ticketstock today. The threat of freezing rain kept the crowd size down. We arrived at 8:00am, got in line for Rayfield Wright autograph tickets--#55 & 56; far different than yesterday's crowd for Aikman. We were able to get back in line for a second set of autograph tickets; we could have scored a third set. It was the same for G@ylord Perry. Cowboys runninng back Marion Barber was there as well, very easy to get tickets for his autograph session.

Gretzky is a great start to a hockey collection.
The Stars practice facility in Frisco is a great place for autographs. The Stars post their practice schedule on their website. You are allowed to wait in the area where the players walk from the locker room to their cars in the garage. They are all good about signing.

Hull is usually pretty good about signing here in the metroplex; there was a timeframe a couple years ago when Hull occaisionally would sign only hockey cards. He still lives in the area and occaisionally shows up at Stars events; he seems to be back to signing most anything you have.
Here's a sampling from my son's Hull collection (picked up at charity golf tournaments, Stars practice/events, and the Redwings team hotel in Nashville):

Hey Guys, Sorry to jump into your thread. I have a quick question for you. I ordered my Rangers vs. Yankees tickets this morning(for May 5th). I got pretty good seats for the game, Sec. 18 behind the Yankees dugout. They have a offer to also go to the Baltimore game on Thursday night(May 4th), for half price tickets. I was thinking of going down a day early and seeing that one. Where in the ballpark would be a good place to sit for pretty cheap?? I just spent $160 on the 3 Yankee tickets, so I wanted to go a little cheaper. I was thinking Left or Right field but ??? I will have the wife and my 6 year old son with me so I dont want to get too high up(lose interest). I have only been to the ballpark once, so I really dont know a good place(shade, sight etc.) Any help from you guys that go pretty often would be helpful!!!! I have to order the Balt. tickets Friday. THANKS!!! for any help.

If your looking for shade and an area that will keep your son's interest, go with the lower level in right field. The Rangers bullpen is out there, and there is a children's game zone in the plaza behind center field.

Security is especially tight for NBA teams. Security is a bit more lax for NHL teams. My son & I went over today for the Avs and stayed for the Suns arrival. No security when the Avs left for the game. We ordered drinks at the Starbucks, sat at an outside table, and waited for players--the bus loads right by the Starbucks.
About 5 minutes prior to the Suns arrival security came out and started clearing the area where the bus was to park. When the team arrived hotel security tried to keep people at a distance. My son was able to get Steve Nash's autograph, but he had to be very sneaky.

the best time to get a basketball team is if they stay after a game overnight or when they return from practice.

Hey guys! Anyone going to the Yankee game(s)...I reccomend buying 6 dollar tickets for all three games and going extremely early. Get good positioning on the 3rd baseline and Derek Jeter signs 2 out of 3 games, and Torre signs often too.
my buddies always get them in the afternoon of their series because they always attend a certain restaurant in arlington as do most other teams.

TRU in Irving and NRH Texas had 14 and lots of Cooperstown, especially NRH. They've moved the McFarlanes around to another set of shelves at NRH. I saw a lot of figures - full sets of Cooperstown - but no chases.

Hey guys, just went hunting for some SP's until the storm came through. What's left for you guys:
TRU on 75 in Dallas (walnut hill)- complete set of a MLB series 14, a bunch of team canada and NHL legends 3
TRU on 75 in Plano-- a bunch of red sox 3 packs, 2 ny yankees 3 packs, a Carlton Fisk, most of series 14, almost all of Legends 3, and a lone Kevin Mawae
If you guys find stuff across the metroplex will you post it? It makes it easier for all of us.

I was there at 10:30 this morning and there were no Lee's. 13 figs but no Lee. I was hoping they would have Cooperstown. I had to go to the dentist during the beginning of school and thought I'd hit some luck going early with them getting some new stuff, but oh well.

He usually works his way down the 3rd base line; he usually doesn't stay with a one-aisle line. It is a zoo when Jeter or ARod comes over to sign; the lines dissapear and everyone crushes forward. My son got Jeter at the Ballpark in 2004. Good luck.
Season ticket holders get into the Ballpark 30 minutes before everyone else, so most of the lines are pretty long when the gates open (especially true with the popular teams like NY and BOS).

May 13: Duke Snider
June 16: Bob Schieffer (CBS News, former Ft Worth resident), also Bob Schieffer BOB-blehead Night

I did some further checking on guests at the Cats games and autographs. The usual pattern is that the guest is set up to sign autographs prior to the game--don't know the exact timeframe. Also, on special days such as the retirement of Sparky Anderson's number there is a pretty good chance that Maury Wills will be in attendance--he attends several Cats games each season.
A few other additions to the Cats guest appearances:
May 11: Fergie Jenkins to throw out the first pitch (tentatively scheduled)
July 12: The Famous Chicken

Saturday, July 29 -- Craig Biggio Figurine
Saturday, August 12 -- Astrodome Replica
Sunday, September 3 -- Minute-Maid Park Replica
If there are any Ranger SGAs you're looking for this season, LMK. If I can help, I will.

Sorry, not going--already have Kinsler.

We got a bunch of vouchers too. I'll be there with my wife, brother, son, step-daughter, possibly step-son and his wife . . . so we're basically filling up one section of the arena. LOL

Where are the vouchers/tickets at? Our season tickets are 119, T, 15-18. It'll be a great game to go to, as our league-leading 9-2 'Rados prepare to manhandle a 3-8 Grand Rapids team. With some help, we can even clinch a playoff spot!

Any of you guys have DirecTV?
I'm looking to switch from DishNetwork, and I'm looking for some info about the alternate channels for ESPN, ESPN2, and FSN. With DishNetwork whenever the Astros and Rangers are both playing on FSN, I receive the feed for both teams--one on the regular FSN feed and the other on an FSN alternate channel. The same holds true for regional broadcasts on ESPN/ESPN2. Does DirecTV work the same?

I've got DirecTV, and if I'm not mistaken, you have to subscribe to the top level package to get all the alternate channels (especially for FSN). I could be wrong though.

I think I'm asking the question in the wrong manner. I have the basic DishNetwork package. I understand the extra cost for all the various FSN regional networks. I was just wondering about the FSN Southwest feeds and the ESPN/ESPN2 feeds.
On nights like tonight, when both the Rangers and Astros are being carried on FSN (Southwest)--the Astros in the Houston market and the Rangers in the DFW market, do you get both games? With DishNetwork, one game is on the regular FSN Southwest channel and the other is on an alternate channel.
There were similar broadcast issues on ESPN/ESPN2 during the NHL playtoffs in the past.(also with MLB games where ESPN has different games for regional broadcasts) Games were on ESPN and/or ESPN2 and an alternate regional broadcast was on the alternate channels for each (ESPNA & ESPN2A).

I have DirecTV. I get all Ranger games here in Houston when they're on FSN. I get all Astros games too...there is an alternate station.
However, I get ZERO Mavs games unless they're on TNT or ESPN. FSN blacks out Mavs games for some strange reason here in Houston.
I do get Stars games that are on FSN, so that's nice.
