If for some reason you missed out on a Modano All Star exclusive. The have a bunch at the FAN shop at the AA. The carry a hefty 29.99 tag but there is a bunch of them.

Great game today vs the AVs. I'm thinking Mr. Turco's days maybe numbered as #1 between the pipes. He sure is giving up a lot of questionable goals lately IMO.

02-11-2007, 11:26 PM
hey La lone, is the stuff 50% off also. I heard an announcement during the game that all allstar items were 50% off and the jerseys were 30% off if ya can let me know as i was only there for the game and could get back to me i would like to get 1 or 2.

La Lone

No, they were charging full price for the SP. I watched some lady argue with the sales clerk over the same point you have

from the Stars website:

Turco agreed. "I know it hasn't been the best last few weeks for me, but I need to get back out there and get back to being my best," he said. "I'm disappointed in myself and how I've let in a few not-so-good goals when the team has been playing so well. But I was encouraging the guys in the third and supporting my teammates."

well... i logged into yahoo at 5:04, the system was up at 4:00, and there was no night live drafts up unless we wanted to draft before march 9th, the weekend drafts were taken too.... so rather than draft way to early, i put it on auto draft, we can change to offline draft and then i can just enter the players if we want, but then everyone would have to be present....

anyways here is the info

we have to do a straight auto draft... i could not get a time to draft that close to opening day..... the good draft times went very quick...

in my past yahoo experience when you set the league to draft it can take a couple days, they may have changed but last year the commish of my basketball league set the league to draft 3 days before the start of the season and we did nto get the auto draft until 2 days into the season....

UNT looked great till the last few minutes of the 1st half.

They're getting killed by the full court press, and a lack of solid shots in the paint. They keep throwing up playground-type shots, hoping they go in.

Jones needs to get them to regroup at the half. And quick!

true - it's easy enough to change domain names but you basically throw away any progress you've made with search engines and publicizing the site when you do that. Hosting is really cheap now, you can get windows hosting for $5 per month or so as well.

Anybody have small holes in their collections to fill? After whittling down what I'm going to keep, it's mostly hometown teams. I have a ton of baseball chase figs, mostly from the first 1/2-2/3 of the series' along with a few from the other sports that I'd like to get rid of before I move in July . I figure with little coming out and being between seasons, we could try to knock them out.:)

My MIP needs:
reg Biggio
Astros Ryan 2
blue Roy Williams (the one I have is kinda beat up)
North Stars Modano

Opener needs:
Orange Carson Palmer
Blue Steve Smith
Astros Ryan 1 & 2

i wasn't even asked...my duties were to entertain babydanger for the day. but if she did ask i would've had to have gone...i've dragged her to countless comic cons so i owe her one...or 97. :D

LOL I know what you mean. Mrs. Sib goes along for shows, helps send out figures to people, does all the payments on figures I get via Ebay, keeps a list of figures I want in her purse so she can watch for them . . . so I end up going along with her to a Barbie club meeting or scrapbook conventions. It all balances out. I even set up a scrapbook from my time in the military so I could be doing something along with her while she scraps.

I draw the line on watching soap operas with her, though. That's one I just can't do.

Comic & Sci-Fi Convention This Weekend!!!

This weekend my favorite convention guys (Ben and Mark of the Dallas Comic Con) are hosting an amazing convention this weekend (June 30th-July 1st) at the Richardson Civic Center. If you've never heard of SciFiExpo or DallasComicCon you've missed out. These guys are SO much better than Creation or anyone else. You get a lot of bang-for-your-buck here, so if you're interested, I highly recommend checking them out this weekend. There's nothing else better to do this rainy weekend!

It's the Dallas Comic Con 9 (http://www.scifiexpo.com/dcc/Next-Convention/Next-Convention.html)

It's only $5 general admission! (More money for the dealer room :) )

They have a huge selection of toys, comics, autographs, and everything else you'd expect. I always see a good assortment in the dealer room and they like to bargain :)

Here's the guest list:

Media Guests:
Kristy Swanson - The Original Buffy The Vampire Slayer
Robert Beltran - Chakotay In Star Trek Voyager
Billy West - Futurama & Ren & Stimpy Voices
Mary Oyaya - Luminara Unduli In Star Wars
James Hampton - Harold Howard In Teen Wolf

Comic Guests:
Herb Trimpe - Marvel Legend!
Bill Willingham - Writer Of The Fables
Billy Tan - Artist Of X-23, Uncanny X-Men
Matthew Sturges - Co-Writer Of Jack Of Fables
James O'Barr - The Crow
Plus Too Many More Too Mention!

In addition to general admission they also have speedpasses for $20 which gets you in for both days, gets you priority seating at the Q&A's, and gets you in line in front of general admission for most media and comic guests, so if you want to commission a sketch or get autographs fast, a speedpass is a great way to guarantee you'll get one :)

It looks like all comic guests sign your stuff free and media guests charge about $20-$25 to sign stuff. The media guests usually have a good assortment of photos to choose from if you don't have something to bring them.

Check out their website (http://www.scifiexpo.com/dcc/Next-Convention/Next-Convention.html) for all the info, but here are more details I scrounged up:

When:
June 30th - July 1st, 2007
Sat. 11am-6pm
Sun. 12pm-4pm

Where:
Richardson Civic Center
411 W Arapaho Rd
Richardson, TX 75080
(This is at Arapaho and 75 - behind the library)

Price:
Admission:
General: $5.00
Speedpass: $20.00 (Priority Access To Most Guests)
Kids 12 & Under: Free!

Parking: Free Parking

Autographs:
Media: Approx. $20-$25 each
Comic: FREE

More Info: http://www.scifiexpo.com/dcc/Next-Convention/Next-Convention.html

Hope to see everyone there!

what kind are you looking for? i seem to remember at least 1 or 2 booths that have some of the old 12" stuff along with a few vehicles and accessories. if you're looking for mcfarlane military then you probably won't find much....but i've got some i'm getting rid of if you need them.

I need some boardie help. I am originally from Houston and I just moved up to the North Dallas area the beginning of June to compete for a Job with the Texas Tornado hockey team in Frisco. The Tornado are in the NAHL and are located right next to the Rough Riders. Simply put if I can do the best I get the job after august. So if anybody out there could help me network to businesses or people around the Dallas area I would greatly appreciate it. If anybody can help or would like some more info on the Tornado you can E-mail me at T_Ebensberger@yahoo.com. Thanks For any help yall can give ,

hey fellas! just thought i'd let you know that SDCC is officailly the craziest thing on the face of the earth! we're having a blast in san diego but i really don't think i want to do this again. it's so much easier to get the exclusives on line and pay a little more. the panels are next to impossible to get into without camping out...i was able to get into the "lost" panel last night with damon, carlton and harold(michael from the show). i'm heading back out in a few minutes for one last attempt at the hasblow exclusives(don't even get me started on that fiasco).

Thanks for the update mike! I appreciate the help!

the bad news is that i got shut out at hasbro again. :( apparently they will be putting some up on their website after the con though...you might keep an eye on that. hasbro had the most screwed up process that left so many people on the outside looking in. neca and mattell had their act together but gentle giant and hasbro ended up pissing off just as many people as they helped.

it's a blast here...the con takes over the town like nothing i've ever seen(including the superbowl.) as far as the haul goes...no pics yet but here's what i ended up with.

NECA
king leonidas x2
he man staction x2
harry potter

Mattell
ManBat

Upper Deck
Kobe Bryant vinyl

Gentle Giant(preorder stuff for my brother)
Cody
Luna Lovegood
Yoda/R2 maquette

i didn't buy anything from the vendors because i didn't feel like shipping stuff back that i could just buy at home. i ended up with a few freebies that i gave away for the same reason.

i did hit the "shoot em up" panel today with clive owen...it's a totally over the top action fick that actually looks pretty funny. you have to suspend all reality but it looks like it's worth watching. they had a screening last night and everyone was loving it.

Those actually look pretty good. But it seems unnecessary to change to a uniform that the coach is already associated with. I can see changing logos and colors perhaps, but that seems a bit redundant.....but they still look good (although I prefer the more green look).

Now you're the "Mean White....with a little bit of green"

We were with New Balance, but the Under Armour deal came with Dodge. We were wanting to lighten the green to something closer to the school's "kelly" green, and this was a perfect time. I do wish they would tell us if we had green road pants. I'm not too keen on the all-white. I'm already saving for the replicajerseys that go on sale in a few weeks!

Wow I had to dig up the thread and besides the BUMP here is a signing in Southlake I got this email today
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

www.Hall of Fame Memorabilia.com presents 2004 Gold Medal winner Jennie Finch! Jennie was part of the 2004 USA Women's Softball team that took home the Gold.

Now meet her in person! Jennie has never made an appearance in D/FW, so take advantage of this rare opportunity.

Jennie is a role model for young women everywhere, and is known for her fast pitch abilities that even landed her on the red carpet of the ESPY awards, as well as Late Night with David Letterman.

She will be in our store in Southlake from 6-8pm on Monday, September 24th signing autographs for only $20.00 each. Her signed memorabilia typically sells for between $69 (photos) and $199 (jerseys), so this is a bargain!

We are located at:
Hall of Fame Memorabilia

Southlake, TX 76092

Wasn't Baseball Fever in Vista Ridge Mall in Lewisville?

Unfortunately no, JW's closed. They place had great prices, carried some rare stuff, and even had SP's. I loved that place.

I dunno about Lewisville, but there's definitely one in Plano (about 5 minutes from my house, and I still won't spend money there.) They attempt to sell SP's, but last time I checked, they wanted $50 for the new Red Sox Pedro chase.

well boys...it's time to go truck shopping. this was my truck yesterday morning after going into a ditch and hitting a concrete driveway that went across the ditch. thankfully there's not a scratch on me...can't say the same for my truck though...it's likely totaled.

UNT's Dodge denies allegations of racism

10:41 PM CDT on Tuesday, October 30, 2007
By Brett Vito / Denton Record-Chronicle
bvito@dentonrc.com

DENTON – North Texas football coach Todd Dodge denied allegations by a suspended player of racial bias by his coaching staff Tuesday, when a second suspended player said he will join in a complaint made to the Texas chapter of the NAACP.

Junior cornerback Dominique Green filed his complaint Monday after being suspended Sunday. Sophomore defensive back Desmon Chatman, who was suspended earlier in the season, contacted the NAACP on Tuesday to join in the complaint. Both Green and Chatman are black.

"I can assure you that we don't have any racial problems on our team, at all," Dodge said. "I can lay my head on my pillow at night knowing that we run a program that takes care of our players and treats them the right way."

Green, of Lawton, Okla., said he was suspended for saying, "We are from the hood" during an incident on the sideline during UNT's 48-28 loss to Middle Tennessee on Saturday.

Dodge declined to comment Monday on why he suspended Green and later declined through a UNT official to comment on the complaint. Dodge said Tuesday there was more to what happened on the sideline with Green.

"Foul language was being used on the sideline that was redirected by a coach," Dodge said. "He was insubordinate when he was being redirected. I can promise you that 'hood' was not the only word that was used. I don't have any problem with that word."

Dodge indicated that UNT's staff had problems with Green earlier in the season.

"It wasn't a racial issue," Dodge said. "It was a disciplinary issue."

Dodge did not respond to a message left with an athletic department official seeking comment on Chatman's suspension or his decision to join the complaint.

NAACP representative Ericka Cain confirmed Tuesday that Chatman contacted the organization. Cain will meet Thursday with UNT players who wish to come forward and give a statement.

"I will take their statements and then meet with some people at the university to see if we can come to a common ground and see what the problem is," Cain said. "The players will be able to remain anonymous."

Chatman was suspended earlier in the year. Dodge said his policy is not to go into detail about why players are suspended, but Chatman said he missed a running session.

"I feel like there is a racial bias with the coaches because of some of the situations that have happened," Chatman said. "There is a different set of rules for the black players."

UNT athletic director Rick Villarreal said he was shocked by the allegations.

"We brought in Coach Dodge to instill some discipline, to instill an accountability to each other and to the team and sometimes that flies in the face of kids' own wants and the way they want to do things," Villarreal said. "Does that become a situation where it is a racial issue? I don't know, but I am going to find out."

Villarreal said he has contacted UNT's Division for Institutional Equity and Diversity and is gathering information about the incident.

The allegations came as a shock to UNT junior defensive lineman Joseph Miller, who is black, and several area coaches and athletic directors who have worked with Dodge over the years. Dodge spent the 2000-06 seasons at Southlake Carroll and won four state titles in his last five years at the school.

"I heard about it this morning and was shocked," Miller said. "I have not been a victim of anything like that. Hopefully this will pass over."

Southlake Carroll athletic director Ronnie Tipps said Dodge never had problems with minority athletes during his tenure at the school.

"I am very surprised," Tipps said. "Coach Dodge and that staff are kid-centered. They care not just about winning, but making winners out of kids in life. That would be totally out of character for anyone on that staff, and I know most of them."

I thought you'd post that earlier;) . It's not racism. It's 3 (so far) thugs that were previously suspended for disciplinary reasons and can't be bothered to clean up their act. The previous coach would let it go, but not this one. Listen to Jub's info above, and you'll see how it's nothing but crap from these hoodrats.

Man, everyone on our board is upset at these 3 *****s for casting us in a bad light.

As a side note, what's there in the way of bars/restaurants down by AAC?

yep, we got in with our cameras - after we spent the first quarter and a half looking for a parking space. They shut down the blue area we bought a pass for, and we ended up circling the damn stadium for an hour and a half. grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

My wife went in with a camera bag and she didn't even have to open it. What a joke.

i've heard blue parking is a mess! we ended up parking at a business on grauwyler for $8. it was a little bit of a hike, but we were out of there pretty quickly compared to the people that were sitting in blue parking after the game.

Anyone near Dallas or close wanna go to the first Cowboys playoff game Jan 12-or Jan 13 ?? I really want to go but not by myself. Cant take my g/f cause she will have her daughter and I wouldn't feel right leaving her in a hotel. I have thought about if I could nab some tickets on the bay or some other place if someone wanted to split them we could meet before the game or at Texas Stadium and watch the game.....I can make my own hotel arrangements or I have family in DFW I could crash with. If anyone is interested let me know. The average ticket on the bay is $150-190 from what I have been noticing. Great chance to meet a fellow boardie and to root on America's Team Dallas Cowboys road to the Super Bowl......

***I would bid on the tickets and when if I get some I will pay with paypal and you can just send me the paypal equalling half the price of the ticket***
