....what if the Colts are around .500 this year and next, and a QB starved team makes a big offer?...or any other reason...what if Tony Dungy leaves..Colt for life?...

Probably not. Most star players have trouble walking away from the game and end up playing a few more seasons than they should. That leaves their original teams with the hard choice of letting them go. Examples: Earl Campbell Saints, Franco Harris Seahawks, Emmitt Smith Cardinals, Johnny Unitas Chargers

depends on his ego, if he doesn't care about being a starting quarterback when he's past his prime then maybe

Peyton is a strong character guy. I don't see him playing anywere else. As a matter of fact he is (and probably will always be) synonymous with the Indianapolis Colts.

What does character have to do with playing for another team? It's all about not wanting to walk away from the game.

If Favre can leave GB than anything can happen.

...I think Manning stays in Indy forever...he is a smart player and as long as he is pysically able I'm sure Indy will still want him...

Manning will eventually play for another team. I'll go ahead and gamble with the Chiefs, Bears or Bucs.

Who knows. There have been some great QBs that have changed teams, but most have stayed put. Elway, Marino, Fouts, Bradshaw, Aikman, Staubach, Kelly, Starr, Griese, Len Dawson, Otto Graham, and Archie Manning to name a few. Some that have switched teams...Favre, Namath, Unitas, Young, Montana, YA Tittle, and Kenny Stabler. Those are the main ones off the top of my head. It seems that at the QB position, a few more of the bigger name players have stayed with their teams. Montana probably would have never left if he wouldn't have suffered the injury that gave Young the chance to start. Favre have stayed with the Packers if he didn't retire in the first place (although he did start his career with the Falcons).

I agree, except I say he'll go play for his dads Saints

Didn't Archie finish in Minesota?

As long as the Colts ownership puts a high quality team on the field through the draft or via FA then he'll stay but as soon as they have back to back seasons where they don't make the playoffs then he'll be gone sure bet.

I just looked it up and you are right, he did end his career with the Vikings. In fact, he played for the Oilers for one year as well. I stand corrected.

I'd say its like Farve with GB, he won a ring with them but if they feel he's lost his touch maybe he will go through the same thing down the line.

Its kinda hard when Peyton has 70% of the money on his pocket.

Faulk. Edge.
that's a little bit different than a franchise QB. manning put indy on the map. he is the face of the franchise and he always will be. i guarantee they have a statue of him outside the stadium when he retires. i put him in the same company as marino and elway, one team QB's.
edge took faulks spot just like addai took edge's. i'm sure addai will get his spot taken pretty soon too.

Agree 100% IF and thats a BIG IF he did play for any other team it would be for the Aints but they do have Brees so I dont know
I only see the Saints in the future of one Manning, and thats Daddy's boy Eli.
I see the Colts letting Peyton stay as long as he wants.

If I was a betting man I would say no. It just doesn't happen in football, especially with Quarterbacks.

The Farve deal was rare as he actually retired then came back. I don't see Peyton doing that...

Anyone who would even consider the thought that Peyton would leave the Colts does not understand anything about the Colts organization or Peyton Manning. The question is totally absurd.

Gretzky would never leave the Oilers. Jordan would never leave the Bulls. Things happen sometimes.

I don't think he'll finish his career with the Colts but you never know, there are alot of examples of QBs leaving after you never thought they would ie Montana leaving the Niners for the Chiefs, Favre leaving the Packers, etc. and alot of examples of a franchise QB staying the course for his career ie Elway and Marino, etc. so it could go either way.

I think it would outstanding if he did. But I highly doubt it. There just isn't any loyalty in sports anymore......Whether it is the GM who thinks he is past his prime with a player holding on to long and gets released and signs elsewhere(ex:McNair). My guess is 49ers or Seahawks in about 3 yrs.

The Giants are assembling a team for Eli. I don't see that happening. Eli is the new Phil Simms for Giants Fans. Only better.

Has Indy drafted another QB yet? I wouldn't even consider the question until then.
