Today is the day we were supppse to see pics of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers Super Bowl Exclusive!!! Well out w/ it SOMEBODY, i been hearing about this forever an want to see if i'm going to be dissapointed or happy w/ your selection... Come on Ben hook up fans up!!! :D

So, if Mcfarlane doen't come here for this years superbowl it is the Tampa Jinx the first series was LT and Seau in San Diego Were the Bucs won the Superbowl and then the Superbowl in Tampa No apperance of the Mcfarlane booth that is a curse I think?? I can answer the rumors and tell you that we won’t be attending the NFL Experience this year. We decided to take a break from this year’s event, since we have been to Florida several times in the past and plan on attending the Miami show in 2010. Don’t worry though, because the Exclusive figure will be inserted into the NFL 2009, Wave 1 lineup.

Honestly, who do you think really cares enough about any of those players to make producing 3,000 or more of them a worthwhile endeavor? 2 offensive linemen that are becoming upper echelon players at their position, but no one who isn't a diehard Bucs fan gives a crap about, a middle linebacker who is good but will never ever be anything close to the type of star a Ray Lewis or Brian Urlacher is, another LB who is an average starter in the league, a washed up, oft-injured receiver, a run of the mill RB, and a good, blossoming defensive end who a lot of people don't know about yet.

I'd say you were about right in saying "nope, no one worth making", even though you said it in jest. Sorry, Super Bucs fan #1, but not a one of those guys has a name that carries any weight outside of Tampa Bay. Ruud and Adams are arguably the two biggest names outside of Galloway, who is about done, and they will still likely never be mentioned in the same breath around the league in media circles as guys like Derrick Brooks and Warren Sapp were.

But at least we are getting another figure for our collections. The funny thing is TMP doesnt make many defensive players. I believe Ronde will tie us up with the Cowboys for second on defensive figures at three. Steelers being number one with four.

In going through the posts at the start of the weekend, I see that the announcement was made in Ben's Friday update, which was posted after I was offline for the weekend.

All in all though, that's crazy stuff, man.

What I don't understand is that later on in that thread, Ben says that he knew the news for 2 weeks, but was not allowed to say anything about it. Why then, did he say in another thread that not only would it be announced, but that pictures would be shown as well???

Perhaps maybe he was thinking that although the Bucs SB Exclusive figure was being postponed, that the Target Exclusive Marion Barber Thanksgiving figure would sort of take its place and even things out, so to speak?

Disappointing nonetheless. Perhaps it was meant to be Ronde for quite some time, but then for economic reasons they pulled out of the Super Bowl, and now with the additional time, are planning on changing it up to a different player, aka: Warrick Dunn? When did Dunn re-join the Bucs, was it in the offseason this past year? If so, then he obvioulsy was not a likely candidate for the figure given the 9 month leadtime we have been told is needed for each figure. By postponing the figure's release, perhaps now they can switch from a Ronde to a Dunn, perhaps feeling he is a more deserving player, or at least one that would sell better for them? Just freestylin' here, but all told, it is disappointing and an odd way to convey news to a loyal fan base. Sigh.

Peeps had been asking for guys like Rod Smith, John Lynch, and Jimmy Smith for years too. Given what TMP's player selection for their NFL line has looked like the last couple years, do you honestly think there is a realistic chance they would put Warrick Dunn in a regular series? I think if it was 1998, he would be made, but not now.
