I know, buy from you LCS and help to support them, but I feel like 70.00 was too much?

Not that I use ebay that much, but like most of us, I look as a reference. I should have looked before buying.

He had several different ones, mostly 59.00, but this one, was 69.00.

I liked it, bought it, but now seeing I just put one of his kids throught college ;) I am not so happy with the piece.

So does anyone have an outlet for these statues? going rate? I hate to head to the bay but if it saves me 30.00+, I'm going to have to do it.

It is the new Gerorge Perez one so maybe not soooo bad on the price?

The going rate for these is $60-$70. I don't think you will be able to get them much cheaper than that.

ok, just checking. I flipped when I saw other statues going cheaper, but not exactly the one I bought.

Bottom line. I love it, love looking at everyones displays with the B&W, so now its my turn.

You may be able to get them a bit cheaper on ebay, but not that much cheaper. I'd say $50 would be the cheapest you will find one of these statues for.

You also have to account for shipping. I bought one in a comic shop for $60-70, don't remember exactly.

Thanks ED and Marauder.

This is my first adventure into the more "adult" (meaning statue) side of collecting. I have been exclusively the retail store hunter for the last few years.... slowly moving to the 1:6 and statue side. Takes less time and the pieces do look MUCH more detailed.

Love it, just was worried in the pricing.

I've bought all my B/W Batman statues from Alteregocomics.com, I paid $74 for the Perez shipping included, you didn't get ripped off, these statues are getting more expensive!

I don't think you got ripped, it's an awesome statue and as long as your happy with it I wouldn't worry about the price.

Question:

What makes statues and 1:6 scale considered more adult than figures? Is it because they're more expensive or because figures have that stigmata of being 'toys' and playable.

For me, in the younger years, I NEVER set foot into a comic shop. I only went to kmart/wmart etc. Maybe that was because I was sheltered, but that is another thread.

I am sure that younger collectors could get into the 1:6 and statues, but I know before I had my first job, spending 80-200 on a toy on a weekly (hell, monthly) basis would be unheard of.

Now, with a career that allows me to do so, I can have these items that would have been unobtainable on my parents income.

So I think a mass market item, regardless of who likes it (young or old), is intended to be "played" with so the standards of the sculpts and the amount of work going into them is reduced. There are some very nice smaller figures out there, but there is just something to be said about the larger scale figures.

The larger scale action figures are just more detailed and for me a "pose" and "display".

Now I have been collecting the "smaller" scale figures for years, I have just recently started with the larger ones. I just prefer them.

Figures do have the tendency to sporadically develop the wounds of Christ.

I was thinking Ministry when I read the word "Stigmata"

:D:p

I too like bigger figures and statues (hell i prefer marvel select over ML) but yeah, spending a lot of money on 1 statue is harder to do with a smaller budget. The problem with me is if I get a statue of Wolverine- I'd think 'damn what about Spawn, Batman, Spidey, Deadpool...ect) and I'd just want others :(

But yeah, statues would work better for me but it's a bit hard to spend 100 bucks in one shot if thats 60% of what you get from a part time job.

For now I just stare at statues and say "some day..."
