Here's the deal, this Jurrasic park jeep looks close enough to a warthog so I'm chopping it up etc. It's damn close to the 5" scale figs. Here's the question, check the pic and tell me if the wheels from the sig 6 ATV would look better on the Warthog than the ones that are on it now. I have a small scale one in the back as a reference. I'm really not motivated to rip the tires off. what do you think?

The ATV wheels look better, and more like a Warthog. But they look kinda big. I like that idea though. I have some JP stuff, but I don't remember that Jeep.

I think the jurassic park wheels need to go for one. The ATV wheels will be to big on that vehicle. You could mold the hub caps to match the halo ones. I love the idea of using that vehicle for it. I now want to buy a few to create one. I will give credit to you for the idea. This will be for myself of course. I need some warthogs bad! If i come across nice wheels i will let you know.

The vehicle is a JP3 All terrain dino trapper with Billy Brennan. If you see a pic of it,the first thing you think of is WARTHOG.

I didn't even know that existed, and I was huge on the JP stuff when I was younger. You're right. That screams "turn me into a warthog".

I seen this vehicle before but never in stores. I just was never sure if it was the right size. You can never really tell if something is the right size on ebay most of the time. I bet this item will be a little more expensive on ebay now. I wish i had the funds right now i would buy a few.

this is the one below I had and thought about converting , but yours looks way better. i would suggest only using the existing wheels if you were going to texture them like the small scale one you got there

http://www.jurassictoys.net/database/main.php?g2_view=core.DownloadItem&g2_itemId=815&g2_serialNumber=3

I have that. I don't think the Spartans would fit in it. The seats are almost too small for the JP figures, let alone the Spartans. I like the one in the first post better anyway. The shape and body match up pretty well.

I agree. I know this won't be exact to scale, and I think the original tires will do fine. I had to remove the whole seat to get Master chief to sit lower.

That looks awesome.. I'd say just keep the tires you have and ad a tiny bit to them, you're gonna make the warthog rims right? You have to make those!

Actually looking at it again, if you add the little ribber bumper things that go above the wheel well above the tires, it'll add a little bit to hide the gap and should probably be fine with the wheels it has.

You could cut off the outer tire treds on the atv and modify them to the other wheels. You would have to sand them down but why not go all the way right? You can use some sculpy to fill in the cracks as well. I would not suggest rolling it on a table. This is just a thought but i would want to make sure i got treds on the tires as well.

IMO it would look better with the sigma6 wheels. The tread definitely matches up a little nicer. The rim...well not so much. Do you think the Sigma6 tires would be to far out of scale? I am not into Halo figs but it is always cool to see someone do it themselves.

Yea, the sigma 6 wheels would look more accurate, but they are a little big, so it could go either way.

Yea, I have to finish the underside area still. It is becoming a much bigger project than I first thought. Isn't that the way it always goes.I am looking forward to completing this.:)

I hear ya.. my current project was this...

I'll just take a diecast motorcycle, take the wheels off and ad some little jet thingies on the side to make it look like a hover bike or something...

um.. yeah, that didn't work out like I planned and basically scratch built the vehicle, lol... though I did keep the bike seat, lol.

Correct.
Building the chassis is a pain and can be expensive though.

This is what's on my "prototype" workbench now: :o

Not nececeraly. I'll modify it to hold the larger figures and maybe a slight re-paint and be done with it. :o

Well, you can basically "cannibalize" any cheap vehicle and add the seats to the RC Warthog. Then simply fill in the open fenders with foam-board and " .*poof*. " WARTHOG. d(>_<)b

Damn... sorry ZIM.
Didn't mean to hyjack the thread.

A few of us thought of it a while ago, but the problems we came up with were they didn't look accurate and the figures wouldn't fit. Topic Creater did really great finding one that would work.

That Warthog is WAYYY too big for that figure. It looks good, but the scale is completely off. It looks like a monster truck.

Honestly if you jacked the wheels suspension down a little I kinda think it'd be pretty close to right. The Warthog is big. I mean, there's a good reason McFarlane isn't making one of these yet, it's a freakin monster.

The body is even too big. The Warthog it more like a small pickup truck then a jeep. That still is too big either way.

The most to-scale measurements would make a hog about
14.28 inches long by 7.5 inches wide and 6.96 inches tall. Measure accordingly customizers.

no its just the tires, its about the right size, just remember if you think about it, a turret would be just the right size back in there

It seems like the body is a little on the small side of things:
Body is about 12 3/4 long, 3 1/2 tall and 4 3/4 inches wide.

With the wheels, it's about 13 3/4 long, 8 1/3 tall and 6 1/2 inches wide.
So, it looks like it's still a bit small, but still closer than enything else I've seen.

Where can you buy this? I would not mind monkeying around with one. If it turns out to be the wrong size i will just use it as a display piece.

Pretty close, I suppose you can't argue with the detailing.
