The local stations have begun playing Christmas music, and I'm amazed at how many are just terrible! With this in mind, my wife and I started our own list of the worst Christmas songs. I'll post what we've come up with here and y'all can add your own list. If we have enough different nominations, we may need to run a poll on this. So what are the worst Christmas songs? List your nominations here.

Here's our list:

Santa Claus is Coming to Town – Bruce Springsteen

Frosty the Snowman – Ronettes

Santa Baby – Eartha Kitt

Feliz Navidad – Jose Feliciano

Twelve Days of Christmas – by anyone

Little St. Nick – Beach Boys

Want a Hippopotamus for Christmas by G a y la Peevey

Simply Having a Wonderful Christmas Time – Paul McCartney

Last Christmas – George Michael

So This is Christmas – John Lennon

Any "classic" that was remade by somebody in the last 15 years.

And I'll say that I am very sick of "Gandma got runover by a reindeer."

I'd just like to put out there that the BEST christmas song of all time is, without a doubt, a little tune by the Royal Guardsmen from the 60's called "Snoopy's Christmas".

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Jlf---13Q0g&feature=related

It's prequel, "Snoopy vs the Red Barron" is also an excellent camp tune.

12 days of Christmas is great with the McKenzie Bros, but lets do away with most of the Christmas songs which have nothing to do with the true Christmas meaning

The duet with Rosie O'Donnell and Gloria Estefan. I don't know the title (something about pigging out this Christmas), but after hearing it more than once, it's no longer cute.

Did any of the songs in your worst list start off as cute or likeable, then you just outgrew them? I ask because my kids just love Grandma Got Run Over by a Reindeer.

I hate Feliz Navidad, but the "Police Stopped My Car" parody of it is kinda funny.

I am actually pretty sick of almost all Christmas music, except for some of the Trans Siberian Orchestra stuff-and even that is getting stale.

Why all the hate for the Lennon and McCarthy songs? I enjoy those. I also love the Trans Siberian Orchestra stuff.

"Grandma Got Ran Over by a Reindeer" would probably be the worst, I agree. It was funny originally but it is so wore out that it isn't fun to listen to anymore.

Anyone that hates "So, This is Christmas" by John Lennon. has no taste in music, and should be smacked across the head. Its a total classic, and the only Christmas song that matters in my book. I guess some people are "too cool" for songs by him now.

LOL naw, he just sucks, that's all.

I didn't really count the McKenzie Bros' version because they changed up the lyrics - I was referring to the versions that included the drummers, maids, pipers, rings and all those damn birds.

You have to be Italian, or at least like Italian folk music to really appreciate Dominick the Donkey. Can't hate on Lou Monte, having grown up listening to his music.

As for the songs I hate - nearly anything made in the last 15 years. You just can't beat the classics!

As for my #1 most hated from the list........"So this is Christmas," by John Lennon - cannot stand that stupid, hippie piece of crap that tries to send the message that we should feel guilty if we haven't "done something to change the world" at Christmastime. And the thought of a bunch of little flower children holding up lighters and swaying back and forth like little drones to John and Yoko makes me cringe even more. *shudder*

The Christmas shoe song. Just because you make up a sad story and use the word Christmas in a song doesn't make it a Christmas song. That's cheap.

Well, that song is the defining Christmas song, IMO... I didnt think anyone could not like it. Guess I was wrong. Maybe Miley Cyrus can redo it, and make it better?

You just reminded me of something else. Does Celine Dion really think she's that "cool" that she can remake anything at it would be cool with everyone listening on the radio? I think I heard her remake of a John Lennon song (I can't remember if it's a Christmas song - maybe it was Imagine) that's ONLY associated with him. Some things should be left the way they are, but this gargoyle insists on recording whatever she feels is "important to her fans."

Whew! Didn't know I had that in me. I'm going to go have some egg nog.
