I’ve been working on this display for 2.5 years, and it’s finally at a place where I’m willing to show it—but as you all know, a display is never really “done.”

I’ve tacked some pictures on the end of the display in my bedroom—that part is largely unorganized and cluttered because I’m using that space for storage right now.

This is not my entire collection—I have many more figures out of rotation right now—but I’d consider this the best of the best.

Enjoy, and thanks for your comments.

The following pictures are from my bedroom. I pretty much use it for storage right now and I’m working on rearranging it—I didn’t really take my time with these pictures, but included them to provide an idea of what else I’ve got:

This is by far the greatest non-sports collection I have ever seen! Amazing display, everything's perfect, I can tell you really care about your stuff! I even saw some toys I had as a kid. Very cool!:)

It's a Halloween prop, I wish it was functional, but it's a solid piece of foam and latex.

I fail to see your logic of how a TV spoils my statue/action figure collection .

Yeah, it's not an expensive flat-screen, but this isn't a TV forum...

I don't collect DVD's, play games besides the occasional Mario Kart 64 with my buddies, or even watch much TV.

It's big, free, and gets the job done .

Haha, thanks, but I have several Family Guy, Simpsons, Futurama, Ren and Stimpy, Invader Zim, Earthworm Jim, Popeye, Adult Swim, and Aaah! Real Monsters! figures. Peter vs. Chicken fits right in :D.

FANTASTIC! I especially enjoy how you pull off making the cheap shelfs look nice. The best thing about your displays...THERE CLEAN!!! :D In the 34th picture in the bottom right hand corner of the display there is an green alien with red eye, what movie was that from? who made the crypt keeper? And from your reflection you have a striking resemblence to Manga Spawn

Looks fuggen great bro!!! Love how everything is organized.... beautiful

I am envious of that Mondes Hellboy statue :o

Where do you get your risers from?

I get those acrylic "risers" from Pat Catan's, Hobby Lobby, and sports card stores.

And thanks for noticing my arrangements. I spend so much time posing and arranging. I try to make things look good both horizontally and vertically. I also group by kind, size and color to make it all look good.

I believe that's called "Invaders," but I'm not sure. I don't know if it's from a movie for sure either.

The Crypt Keeper is from Screamin.

That's interesting--people usually tell me I look like Justin Timberlake--no joke--but I have a beard for winter, so maybe not so much right now.

Well, it's a good start, but your collection of everything is really nowhere near finished yet dude.

:D

I do have a very eclectic collection, but I am actually fairly close to "finished" (probably never truly will be...).

Now I just keep up with the occasional purchase and also try to fill those few elusive holes I have--but my rate of purchase has slowed to a snail's pace.

Damn it, now I don't know whose collection I like more, yours or punk's.

That's quite a compliment. Punk rules the Star Wars and Simpsons domains, and I try to preside over the Army of Darkness and TMNT ones. He's into figures, and I have more statues.

I guess it would depend on where your interests lie. I certainly respect his collection, but it's probably obvious that we have different tastes.

I fail to see your logic of how a TV spoils my statue/action figure collection .

Yeah, it's not an expensive flat-screen, but this isn't a TV forum...

I see a room with tons of amazing collectibles, and in the middle of all of it, a not-so-good looking TV. It was a joke... slightly.

Ed Gein
01-05-2009, 02:14 AM

No, I bought it painted from another collector--and I actually got it for a great price.

The idiot didn't pack it well and it arrived with pieces detached--nothing "broken," just apart at the seems. I glued it back together, but I still plan to touch up a few small spots.

I follow, but I'm saying that I don't need a fancy TV in my collection room--the TV is the last thing I care about in that display. My passion is for action figures, statues, and art. TV is not a priority in my consumerist life.

People always say that I should charge admission--and it'd be awesome to get some return on my collection without selling it--but it just seems unfeasible. Who knows though, maybe in the future all the children will beg their parents to go see The Mid-Ohio Toy Museum.

Screw that :p--if I haven't hocked most of it it by then, my kids will probably do so.

Seriously though, I would sell most of it, donate some of it--if a museum actually had a use for it--and I would prefer to just hang onto my absolute favorites and pass them onto my family in hopes that they'd keep them and take care of them in my memory.

First of all, SPECTACULAR collection. There are few words to describe how in awe I was when I was scrolling through those pictures. Simply astonishing.

Second of all, a few inquiries about a few of the pieces:

1. Where is the big Mario statue from?

2. Where did you get those awesome Blues Brothers figures ... where they're standing back to back?

3. Where did the big 4 Ninja Turtles statues come from? I've never even seen those before.

Hahahaha. I'm sure your company thanks me too.

Most of that is from IKEA. Obviously the Detolfs are all IKEA, and the four bookshelves against the back wall are also IKEA. The TMNT shelves (and cartoon and Hellboy/Monev) are CD/DVD racks from Big Lots, and the large lighter colored shelves they're perched on were secured at the closing of a G-Thanks (sort of like Hallmark).

That's a monster from the comic Gloomcookie--I've never read it, but I loved the statue when I saw it. They're not too uncommon to find floating around ebay and the like.

Partially luck, and the rest was finagling little pieces of plastic/rubber under his feet to counter-balance some of the weight.

Love this collection :D

Those are 7th Kingdom figures by the Four Horsemen. They're a couple years old and are pretty hard to find now. It took me forever and more money than I'd like to admit to complete the set.

The only thought circulating through my head while viewing this massive collection was "DAMN!" Were those Mighty Max toys I saw? Sh-it, dude! That and your old school Turtles just made me cry and envious. One hell of an eclectic collection.

Yes, I know precisely what's there and where everyone belongs. Hours upon hours of displaying and posing have burned it into my mind.
