i've always wondered about this.Let's say Nash passes to Shaq and Shaq get's fouled and goes to the line and makes both free throws. Does nash get an assist?

i just used Nash and Shaq as an example, because i know Shaq would never make both free throws!! :D

I used to think that if he made the first one, he got an assist but I guess I was wrong.

they should change the rule, if he makes both free throws, the passer should get an assist

that's what i think! if a player get's fouled on a layup or dunk attempt, that probably would have been an assist anyway.

Nope. The variable of a miss is out there. There is no way a guy should get credit for an assist if there is a foul...now if the guy makes the shot and it is a continuation foul..well then yes otherwise leave it alone.

does a fouled missed shot attempt go against your fg%

I don't think so. I don't think its an "official" shot.

no he doesnt, but they should if the person makes both. I've been saying that for years.

No, a missed shot due to a foul doesn't count against your FG %.
