This is a multi-choice poll,so you can pick more than one. :D
If McFarlane Toys has mercy on us and gives us a Military Series 8 (or more), what military figures would you like to see made? Sorry, I didn't make an option for "Other". If so, just list what you'd personally like to see. :)
I would take any of these in any ethnic variation...

EDIT: Sorry, posted this before there was a poll, thought you were just trying to come up with ideas for further figures :o

Military Movie Maniacs.
1st entry in the line: Tropic Thunder.
All are fun ideas, and Lord knows I'd buy more of the modern military stuff, but I just don't see it happening.

Yeah, I'm more interested in seeing the modern military line continued. However, I would love to see McFarlane Toys tackle other eras such as Vietnam, Korea, etc. I'm still undecided on whether I want to collect the CoD WWII line. Currently I'm still focused on acquiring the few remaining pieces I need to complete the modern military line up for now. I also collect / kit bash 12" military figures, so I've got to be selective where I spend my money.

I would love new waves of Military. Bring them all on!! As I have a bias for the Air Force, I'd like to see more fighter/chopper pilots...also an aircraft mechanic (as pilots even agree, the mechanics do a majority of the real work!)

Great idea! And all are glaring omissions from the military line I might add. :)

That's pretty awesome. What does that guy do? Like, language interpreter?
"Military Police (female w/ asian or hispanic variant - really not enough representation of these ethnic groups in the line)"
Really? Most of the figures in the military lines had alternate versions.

Yes, language interpreter. Many interpreters are local nationals who work for US / Coalition forces. For fear of compromising personal and family security, many of them wear a balaclava or some sort of face mask to conceal their identity.
Okay, I can see how my wording is a bit confusing. My apologies. I wasn't trying to say that there aren't enough ethnic variations across the line (even though I see now that it is clearly written that way), but there aren't any asian or hispanic females at all. We have an African American female helicopter crew chief, but that's it. I meant to say that women in general are underrepresented in this line.

You know what I'm talking about.
Another thing: I could design fictional future soldiers ALL DAY LONG, why has no one brought such a simple and obvious line to the marketplace yet? I would really like to know. This seems like a complete no brainer. And, no HALO ain't it.

You might be right, Uwe. This may be a lost cause, and considering a lot of young whipper snappers these days would rather collect fictional characters rather than real American heroes, it's simply a sign of the times. GI Joe and little green Army men are now the province of old timers I guess. :(
Believe you me, I'd pick up another ten series of these guys from McF in a heartbeat. But I just don't see it happening.

And you would be right. I sent an email to MT and this is the repsonse I got.....
Thank you for the email. The honest truth is that retailers are only
interested in branded product right now. It seems that without a
movie/video game/or a name brand behind a figure, it just doesn't have
the velocity to move. If you walk down the toy/collectible aisles, you
don't see very many items that don't have a major brand behind them.
The specialty segment of the market has dropped significantly and is not
able to support a line of figures by itself. So, we are very limited in
being able to sell a military line.
I really liked the ideas posted - especially the interpreter - and we
will keep them available in case the time is right to create them again.
Thanks for your support and service. We truly appreciate it!

So I guess it's game over. :(

In the military toy section at Toys R Us, they have several 1:18 scale action figure lines. Aside from G.I. Joe, which will always be welcome in toy stores because G.I. Joe was the first action figure, they also have BBI Elite Force and 21st Century Ultimate Soldier. Those two lines are not associated with any movie or video game, and just deliver realistic military.

I feel you. But I guess McFarlane Toys decided that the military line is a niche market and the demand just isn't there. I would've preferred them go all out with a series 8 rather than BS Guitar Hero figures. Oh well. RIP.

While true, the figures were usually a support for the featured product, the vehicles.

Yeah, that's true. I visited a message board where 1:18 scale military figure collectors were more psyched about the tanks and not really the figures. Vehicles at that scale are too big for me to collect. McFarlane Military figures were perfect for me because I like to keep my figures in the same scale and display them all together no matter what line they come from.

The vehicles are more interesting, but the market isn't there to support them anymore, not at the price point they have to go at to keep a company afloat, anyhow.
I didn't support the McF Military line because i have no interest in modern combat uniforms, and when they finally release the WWII stuff it's 3/4 boring Marine figures.
C'est la vie, if i ever want to spend a grip of cash on army stuff there's always old 1:18 and actual militaria.

I feel you. However, I collect modern stuff because one day it won't be... well "modern". At some point in the future I think these figures will be sought after by collectors for the level of detail and accuracy that went into this line. These were really the best military action figures in this scale created to reflect the current GWOT. My only gripe is that a lot of the figures didn't have body armor until later in the series, but I can overlook that for the most part. As I stated previously I also collect 1/6 scale military figures, which I can customize to make even more accurate. I've got almost all the McFarlane Military figures now and they look great displayed together. I'll see if I can't post a pic later. Really a shame it has to end incomplete. Would've been great to have a 3rd Armored Cavalry trooper in Stetson figure as well...

I'd buy them all, WWII more modern figs. It's all about the level of detail and the price point for me. I love the Hot Toys stuff, but it's just too expensive (they're worth it, just not in my budget). So I stick with the McF guys. I won't do the COD figs though, I think they look awful. How can you go from the production values that went into the Military line to the junk that is the COD line? Depressing.
