Ok, well, I think that I am going to concede. After trolling around these forums for almost a year (with an exclusive interest in Halo), I have decided to give Spawn a try. Seeing how great a company McFarlane really is, I would love to be able to support the original property. (That, and The Walking Dead has me in comic book mood).

I suppose my question it, where do I start? I would like to get a few comics first, and see if I like them. Are there hardbound collections out there of the early stuff? Is there a particular storyline I should start with? Keep in mind, all I know about Spawn is from the movie that came out, but I am a quick study.

I am assuming I will want to buy at least a few figs and statues as well after I get into the comics. Thanks guys!:spawnorb:

Edit: This is in the toys section because I would like to be able to get figures to go along with the comics, if possible. I may venture over to the comic section later on, however.

I say start at the beginning, buy a few of the early figs. That way, you can really appreciate how far they've come.

first sets of issues were great. then go from about 80-100(the Urizen arc). after that you can get the issues that cover Hell arc, where Spawn goes back to Hell with Cogliostro. then everything from 145-185.

but you MUST, MUST!!!! read:
Hellspawn 1-11
Spawn:The Undead all issues
Spawn Annuals:Blood and Shadows and Blood and Salvation

Am I gonna need to track down issues, or are there some hardcover collections out there?

there's a Hellspawn collection, and the Phillip Tan and David Hine issues all have TPB's so that'd help. i'm pretty sure the Undead also has a collection as well.

there's some TPB's of the main series, but I think they're only up to the 60's. the Annual's are also one shots.
