I've heard somewhere that when player jerseys go on sale right after the season ends, the players in question either are leaving the team in some way or simply getting a number change.

It's too late to change uniforms for the 2009 season. The changes would have had to taken place before the deadline. The earliest the Chiefs could get new uniforms would be 2010.
