Different Lanterns

I havent been keeping up with the Green lantern series, but I find the other(red, blue, yellow, ect) lanterns interesting. I've heard that the colors represent different emotions, or respond to them, or something. Like the yellow rings are based on fear, the red ones on hate, the green on courage. Anyone know the story behind these new Lanterns? Oh, and why in every pic I've seen, are the red lanterns vomiting what looks like blood? Any info is appreciated, thanks.

There are six new Lantern Corps, all formed as part of a prophecy called the Blackest Night. The deal is that all the colors of the emotional spectrum will go to war where lots of bad things will happen. Dead people coming back to life as Black Lanterns, hardcore end of the world type stuff.

Yellow is Anger, Red is Rage, Blue is Hope, Violet is Love, Orange is Avarice, and Indigo is Compassion. The deal with the Red Lanterns vomiting blood is that once they get the ring it starts acting as their heart, and it pumps all their blood out of their body through their mouths.

And I'd HIGHLY recommend you check out the comics. "Green Lantern" is the best superhero comic out right now. The current "Rage of the Red Lanterns" arc explains what's going on with them, and it's all leading up to a massive storyline this summer.

the one thing i dont know if you have picked up but in some of the other dc titles they are slowly dropping hints on who will be black lanterns. one of them was superboy conner kent. i think they dropped the hint in the dollar comic that came out this past week. i know it had "origins" in the title. but i cant wait for blackest night. the blue lanterns are awesome and i cant wait to sport the shirt when it comes out. i plan on getting all the shirts for all the corps execpt the star saphires. its funny seeing people at my work ask me what my shirts mean. ive worn the green lantern shirt and they asked me about it and same with the sinestro and red lantern corps shirts

Actually Yellow is fear, not anger. If you don't know Avarice is greed. Also one of the black lanterns is also going to be the dead Firestorm.

Earth-2 Superman, Martian Manhunter, and Ronnie Raymond Firestrom are all Black Lanterns.

I really hate that Martian Manhunter was killed, I assume that when they become black lanterns they are evil, or will they be the same as they were before only with rings.

Well, consider that the Anti-Monitor is the entity in their power battery and that the Gaurdian that he scarred during Infinite Crisis has commited herself to "serve[s] another force that has crept into [her] being and revealed the unfathomable power within the vacuum of space." She then rambles on about being able to control the dead.

"Blackest Night" is going to be simply awesome. "Sinestro Corps War" was one of the best events in recent memory, and John's is going to simply blow us away with this one. GL is my favourite book on the market right now, hands down.

Not a big comic guy myself, or a GL fan for that matter, but I've always thought that it's pretty kewl, since I read a bunch at one time maaaany years ago. I had been wondering about all this since I saw pictures of the different colored lanterns. Thanks for the info. Might have to check this out. :]

Thanks for the info. So, the red lantern corps are kinda undead? Hey, do all the rings work the same as the GL rings? I mean the abilty to make energy constructs, energy blast, shields, and so on. Martain Manhunter as a Black Lantern sounds badass!

Just snag all of John's run so far (there are 3 trades). It's worth the $$.

I'm in pretty much the same boat - I just started. Somebody lemme know if I'm wrong, or missing something.

They can be around each other, although it usually ends up with people getting killed.
